Year 3, Day 341

Hey guys. So today's song is Don't Fear The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult.

I agreed to paint a room for my sister's landlady and I'm sincerely regretting it now. When you put together the fact that I never eat or drink anything, I'm on my period and I was getting bad vertigo in a room very much like a sauna, I was not having a good day. Plus I managed to get a paper cut on the crease of my pinky and messed up my knee somehow. I was supposed to be over there painting this morning, but I had to leave because I almost passed out. I was texting my mom while this was going on and she could tell I was having a full mental breakdown. So she's going to come and help me catch up on all the painting in a couple hours. We probably wont finish today, but I think we'll get a hell of a lot more done with two of us than with one. At least Liz (the landlady) picked not so ridiculous colors. She's painting the room white and grey. That's beyond normal since the color in her house so far are green, yellow, red, purple and sky blue with clouds on it. And all of those make up only three rooms. I'm bringing my paining stick over this time so that should help my vertigo, and I guess we'll just have to see how long I last before needing to pass out again...wish me luck.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 340

What's Up. So today's song is No Blue Sky by The Thorns.

My grandma is doing so much baking right now. Sometimes she gets off work early so I pick her up and we go to lunch (or in today's case: brunch) so she can have her coffee after working. Then we go back home and she does cleaning, laundry or baking. She's done all three so far. There's about 6 bags of cookies in the freezer, a full cookie jar, two Tupperware containers of banana muffins and five loafs of banana bread. How... She's only been of work for like four hours, how has this all been created in that time!? Baking is one of the things that has been a constant in my entire life. Even when I was a little kid, I would come home from school to find the cooling trays set up on the table and the mixer in full swing. If I ever am a parent or god forbid a grandparent I hope I can do the same thing for my family because it's really nice to come home to that. So this is a little reminder to you guys to use your free time to do something you love or something you never get to do anymore. It will make the day even better.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 339

Hello. So today's song is Brilliant Sky by Saybia.

Have any of you ever watched the movie called Fantastic Mr. Fox? I've never watched the entire thing, but I've known what it is for a long time. I've only ever seen it when I go over to Anna's house because usually either her or Rebecca would be watching it when I show up. This has happened at least 12 times in my life. Will and I went over to hang out with Becca again today and of course when we got there it was on the TV. Apparently though Will had never even heard of it, so we finished the movie before playing on the Wii. I think the most shocking thing about the movie is how star filled it is. I mean George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson...the list goes on. My grandma always thought it was a stupid movie which explains why I never watched it at home, but Anna and Becca both thinks it's amazing. I do admit that their use of the Beach Boys makes me happy, but I don't really know how I feel about the movie as a whole. I guess I should probably watch it straight through then decide. Tell me what you guys think or if you've even heard of it.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 338

Hey. Today I give you True by Spandau Ballet.

So awhile ago I applied for a job that I was sure I'd get. The way the posting was written out made it sound like the job was specifically made for me. I had a connection in the office and I even went in and met the girl I'd be working for/with. I sent in my resume through that girl and directly to HR like I was supposed to and then...nothing. I didn't even get a call. It had ticked me off pretty sufficiently. Today though I found at the the girl they hired (instead of me) quit after only a few months, and the one I had gone in to meet had asked if I would reapply. I thought about just telling them to shove it up their ass, but that is something 14 years old me would do. I'm not 14 anymore, I'm 22 and I know that sticking the middle finger up to people wont get me anything except turmoil. So I'm redoing my resume. I'm adding a few things I omitted before, updating some information and hopefully this time I'll at least earn an interview if not the position. I'm choosing to take the high road, but I refuse to give it the optimism as I did before. I'll choose to either be right or pleasantly surprised this time around. Send me your good thoughts.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 337

Hi guys. So today's song is Ain't That A Kick In The Head by Dean Martin.

Earlier I had mentioned to Sammy and Will that Becca wasn't having the best of times, and apparently they took it to heart like I did! I just found out that while I'm at Charlie's place and Sammy's at work Will has gone to hang out with her. He took the Wii U with him which should get interesting. Will is a sore winner, but an even worse sore loser. And Becca is the most competitive person I know besides Will. So I can only imagine what's going to happen with them...oh well. Eating the popcorn yesterday was a bad idea. Why does sweet and salty popcorn even exist? Popcorn is meant to be salty, I want to taste the butter and salt not some candied nastiness in my mouth. I barely ate any before I felt sick. It might just be me because I've never been a fan of mixing things, or for sweets as well...sweet as other people like them, but come on. I never understood Sydney putting ketchup packet things in her popcorn and I don't understand this. My mom used to put reece's pieces in her popcorn which was also weird. Do you guys have any specific way of eating popcorn or is it just the standard buttered stuff from the theatre? Let me know, I'm kind of curious now.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 336

Hey guys. So today's song is Ashes by Embrace.

Oh house sitting, how used to you I'm getting. Today I'm over at my uncle Charlie's house while him and his wife are in Phoenix for summer training. That basically means they hang out at the ballpark while the baseball guys do their training. I think that would be more interesting than going to a real game, although I've never been able to sit through all nine innings without wishing for rain. When I was little there used to be a baseball team here called the Canons, so my grandpa took me to games all the time. Charlie's house is way more my style than Jody's. I mean I love that Jody has the big windows that stream sunlight into the room, but the other (more dominant) part of my personality thrives in darkness. Charlie's house is a duplex that's three stories and everything is dark. The floors, the counters, the walls...all on the blacker side of the spectrum. Their furniture is lighter which offsets the gloom feel you might expect, and even the people in my family who hates dark features like the place. It helps that it has huge walls and doors, and isn't crowded. I'm only here for a few days rather than spending the whole week, but I'm going to relish in my time here since I've only ever been here once before. So time to chill out, watch some tv and possibly eat their popcorn because as you guys know I don't really sleep.

Peace.

Year 3, Say 335

Hi. Today's song is No Sleep Tonight by The Faders.

This is one of those bands that I'm used to hearing and absolutely love, but have never figured who they were....until now. If you have seen She's The Man then you have heard this song. I think it's spot in that soundtrack actually got them a lot of fans, but they were doing well on their own before that. I have another song of theirs that I want to show you guys eventually, but it probably wont make it on the list until next year since we're so close to the end. This may sound horrible, but I'm kind of glad that I'll have the little break from blogging. You guys know as well as I do that I haven't been picking up the slack with writing, and basically all I write is boring since I have no life. In a year, I will hopefully have more to tell you about, but until then I'm trying to finish off the year on a good note. Hence songs like this that make me feel incredible. Enjoy!

Peace.

Year 3, Day 334

Hey. So today's song is Nth Degree by Morningwood.

Aha! Yes, I knew that Morningwood was on here somewhere, I just didn't know if I had featured it yet or not. And yes, I am aware of how pun worthy the name is, but I'm going to refrain because it's too easy...there's no challenge in it. These guys are a band from New York who were active from 2001 until 2012. The song I'm showing you is easily their most well known song, since it's been used in commercials and tv shows. The lead singer Chantal Claret is famous for commanding audience members at concerts to take off their clothes, typically when the song "Take Off Your Clothes" is performed. I think that's ridiculous and don't condone stripping in front of your favorite band and hundreds of people, but they managed to have a volunteer every time. Usually people would just climb on stage and do it with no prompt. Please guys, do not de-clothe in public. Since the band broke up Chantal has tried for a solo career, although I've never heard anything about it, and one of the other guys named Peter Yanowitz has started working on a Broadway musical. See now that is a career move I can get behind. I hope he does well with Broadway.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 333

Hello. So today's song is Jailbreak by Thin Lizzy.

I got a call from Anna awhile ago asking me for a favor. So I slipped out of the house and am over at her place hanging with her sister Rebecca. They're parents aren't in town and Anna's still in Lethbridge for school, so I'm keeping Becca company while she has her own existential crisis...a lot like the one I had awhile ago but spawned from a different life event. Basically every girl I've known from when they graduate high school until a few years later goes through the same panic attack of realizing we no longer have a life or anyone in it with us. Because you don't see those people everyday, you realize that it's hard to consider them friends. They are (as I have always referred to them) friends of convenience: people that time and distance has pushed together and you just kind of accepted that. Once school ends though you aren't being pushed together anymore, but away... and then friendships become strained if not evaporate altogether. I went though this. Sammy has been going through this. And now it seems Becca is starting. I can't say if the same thing happens for guys because I'm not friends with enough to make the assumption, but it is definitely true for girls and it sucks. So to anyone out there who feels this way right now, trust me when I say that it's something you just have to get through and eventually you will find a groove again. Hold on until you do.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 332

What's Up. So today's song is Adelaide by Old 97's.

This band is as old as I am which I always find very cool. They formed in 1993 in Dallas, Texas. During their career the band has released 14 albums. Some of those are unique ones being live or shared with other artists, but there are ten standard studio albums all their own. These guys started off as your typical bar band and toured the country after releasing their own debut album. In 1994 they split an EP with Funland (another Dallas band) through Funland's label. It's in Chicago a year later that they finally caught the attention of a record label on their own. Most songs are written and sung by Rhett Miller, with bassist Murry Hammond picking up the vocals on one or two tracks per album. Hammond also did some country covers, especially in the band's early years. This bassist is someone I particularly like since he sang gospel in church too, making him a fellow choir geek. Both of these guys have released solo albums over the years while still in the band, who have become known for being great live. They apparently never rehearse though so I guess they're just that good. The most interesting thing about them though is that sometimes they perform under a different name. They released an album called Satellite Rides, but sometimes they use it as a name performing as Satellite Riders when contractual obligations prevent them from using the Old 97's name. So Satellite Riders is faux "tribute band." I find this hilarious. Anyway there's a little history for you, enjoy the song!

Peace.

Year 3, Day 331

Hi everyone. Today I give you I Don't Want To Wait by Paula Cole.

This song is now seared into my brain and will never leave it again. My parents used to drop my sister and I off at our grandparents' house before school in the mornings because they had to go to work. Usually I would fall asleep on the couch for four hours until we had to go to school, but sometimes Sammy would watch TV in the room too. You know what kind of things would play at five in the morning on weekdays? Dawson fucking Creek. I hate Dawson's Creek and it's Sammy's fault. I probably only started hating it because she liked it, but if you watch the show is really ridiculous. I heard this song (which is the theme tune by the way) so many god damn times consciously or subconsciously and my brain permanently connected it to the show. I can't hear it without seeing the stupid title sequence with Dawson's face in the sky and I want to wipe that memory away!! It wont go though. I'm stuck with it forever. I don't know why I'm doing this to myself by putting it on here, I guess maybe I'm hoping someone shares my pain. Please say I'm not the only one out there.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 330

Hi guys. So today's song is On The 54 by The Dandelions.

I have never felt so old in my life! Today I was watching TV, which is weird since I'm always watching stuff on my computer normally, so I was getting all the commercials. And this one commercial came on. It was playing sound clips of Mambo Number 5 and the Backstreet Boys. Every bit they played of a song I could sing along to because I had been a fan of all of it. Then the commercial ended by saying what it was for: Retro 30's. Retro....RETRO?!? Are these things actually considered old now!?! You cannot refer to S Club 7 and Will Smith as retro, I will not have it!! They are not old, I am not old I am only in my twenties...is this how my parents felt when The Eagles started to be thought of as retro? Because if it is it sucks and I apologize for ever offending you by saying your music was outdated. Treasure your music children! Because some say you will be minding your own business and hear that One Direction is a retro band and your heart will shatter!

Peace.

Year 3, Day 329

Hello. Today's song is Sometimes The Sun by The Lashes.

So these guys are a band from Seattle formed in 2000. The group went through so many drummers (read 10) before they finally settled on one dude...guess they couldn't find the right rhythm. All of their stuff has been produced by the same guy since the band started recording, and that man is John Goodmanson. He has a strange last name, but I've heard weirder so I guess I shouldn't talk. In 2004 they released their debut demo and then spent a year touring. Then in early 2006 they released their next album, followed by more touring. Some notable bands they performed with include Rooney and Morningwood (which has or will be featured here.) This is where the story gets sad. In 2007 their guitarist Eric Howk fell 12 feet and severed his spine, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. The last thing they released was the first half of their LP titled Thank You Side A. As far as I know the side B never made it into public distribution. As you can guess the band broke up in 2008, but I don't think it was on any bad terms. All of the material they put out was released by different record companies which I'm starting to learn is not very uncommon. Fun Fact: An ex-girlfriend of one of the guys is actually the reason they're called The Lashes. I thought it was interesting to point out...I'll leave you with that little tidbit.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 328

Hi guys. So today's song is I Know, I Know, I Know by Tegan & Sara.

I'm guessing this is a song from before they got really famous. I mean nowadays everyone can sing along to at least one of their songs, the most popular one being Everything Is Awesome which makes me want to punch things. So this song is pretty weird, but honestly that can be used to describe most of the content they've made. Weird doesn't mean bad, just different and sometimes you need different. So give this song a listen and then if you want to compare check out some of the newer stuff.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 327

Hello. So today's song is Gravity, Falling Down Again by Alejandro Escovedo.

So Sammy would not stop texting me yesterday because she was bored. I went over there at midnight (so technically today) and made her start watching Veronica Mars. I've been telling her to watch it forever and she always said it wasn't interesting, but of course as soon as she sat down and watched an episode she realized she liked it. We also were talking about Misha and GISHWHES because it's time to register again. I've thought about doing it for years, but I'm kind of scared to do it because I really have nothing to offer and I'm such a shy person. I showed it to Sammy to get her opinion and now she wants to do it, which is fine. But she also told Greg about it and he wants to join in. Greg is great and all, but honestly I wouldn't want him on my team. GISHWHES is built on making the world a better place and having fun. Greg doesn't exactly scream morally correct although he is an average teenage boy. I don't know...there's still a few weeks to decide. If you have an opinion please share because I don't know what to do.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 326

Hey. Today I give you I Hear The Bells by Mike Doughty.

It's snowing right now. I really have no right to complain about the snow since we've had probably the mildest winter ever while they got slammed in the east, but I still hate it. It's such a dilemma being someone who can't stand the heat and warm places but also has a disdain for the cold and wet weather. Where is my ideal place to live, a bunker? Honestly someone tell me where I can go that has only mild weather all the time. The mild winter now means that we're going to get swamped next time and driving in the snow in a light car is not plausible. I'm tired of getting stuck. Isn't it technically spring now? Shouldn't this weather be gone? Groundhog Willy lied to me! I am going to just hibernate today instead of being outside where it's wet and I recommend you do the same, so here's a song and I'll see you tomorrow.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 325

Morning! So today's song is Tap That by Megan McCauley.

I forgot to mention that yesterday was pi day...oh well life goes on. This is actually a pretty full weekend as far as holidays go. For example today is the Ides of March. If you've never heard of that it marks the day that Julius Caesar was assassinated. It's not something that most people celebrate or even acknowledge, but apparently today tumblr knows what's up. All I've seen are pictures alluding to the stabbing of Julius. This is of course confusing people who a) don't know history and b) don't know the days significance. Idea comes from the way Romans counted the days, it was one of the month's fixed points. It also reflects the lunar origin in the Roman calendar. March used to (in the early calendars) be the first month and the Idea of March would mark the first full moon of the year. Honestly Caesar seems like kind of a dick and was warned about his death, but instead was a tool to the seer who warned him. His death marked the beginning of a lot of bloodshed, it's a pretty interesting story so if you're curious you should look it up. Or you know, read the play. So there is a little bit of history for you. Hope you enjoy the day!

Peace.

Year 3, Day 324

Hey everyone. So today's song is Escape by Rupert Holmes.

So I am finally at home. I ended up staying again last night because Sammy still wouldn't go get her car so I took matters in to my own hands and made a plan. As you know my family always gets together for breakfast on Saturday mornings, so I asked my grandma if she would drive Sammy's car there. Then I drove Sammy and from breakfast I could actually go home. It was a solid plan and actually worked which I'm grateful about. My uncle Charlie and aunt Kristine came today which was surprising. They're always super busy so we only really see them for holidays. They came though because it's my grandparent's 48th anniversary, and because they missed my birthday a month ago. It was still painful sitting through the "what are you doing with your life" conversation although less so with Charlie. Unlike my other uncle (his brother) Charlie is not as abrasive about me not having a plan because he trusts that I'll figure it out. I think Jody does a bit too, but he relishes the opportunity to harass relatives whenever he can. I've slept most of the day after that to catch up on what I missed at Sammy's place, but now I guess I should try to plan my future...joy.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 323

Hi. So today's song is Fidelity by Regina Spektor.

Happy Friday the 13th! I feel for those of you who have Triskaidekaphobia and are absolutely freaking out today, but I am the opposite. I believe this date is lucky and besides: more accidents happen on the 13th of other days than on Fridays. Think about that. Maybe less things happen because we have so few of this combination. Maybe it's because everyone is already so paranoid about something happening that it prevents a lot of stuff. I don't know. Whatever it is I deem today good. So I'm still at Sammy's and I'm really hoping she wants to go get her car today so I can leave. Right now the only thing their planning is to have Greg and Lauren (Will's siblings) over so they get their presents. I assume I'll be present for that, but here's to hoping tomorrow I'll be blogging from home.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 322

Hey Guys. So today's song is Made To Be Broken by Paul Minor.

Sammy and Will got home tonight. I had to leave two hours earlier than I should have since it was rush hour, but I got to the airport with enough time to find their gate. They had a good trip from the sounds of it. Will is burnt because he decided he wasn't tan enough yesterday and went to the beach without sunscreen. Sammy is of course still super white, but she is tan compared to normal. They went zip lining and swimming in caves, and also ended up on a mini booze cruise because they didn't know any better. The amount of presents in their bag is ridiculous, but they always buy things for people. I got a wooden box, a necklace and a bottle of Mexican Diet Pepsi which tastes different from the same product here because if different ingredients. Greg (Will's brother) says it tastes spicy, but I disagree with that. I figured I'd be home by now but Sammy's car is parked in my spot and I can't exactly drive mine back until hers is gone. She didn't want to go get it so I'm currently in their spare room for another night...oh well. They were shocked by all the work I did. Shocked and excited. Will's remark was that "it's starting to look like an actual house." Hopefully that will motivate them to keep working on it. Oddly this singer's name is pretty popular and I couldn't find a picture so this is the album cover. If you know of an actual picture of him please let me know.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 321

Hi. So today's song is Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye by Steam.

I am willing this day to be better than the last. I picked a great song that makes me feel awesome, I have all the materials I need and I have one day to do everything that I set my mind to because Sammy comes back tomorrow. The closet is all painted and tiled, the hallway is half done and I still need to start under the stove in the kitchen, but that isn't too much to do. Time to have some breakfast and get to work. My mom said she'd come over later to help me do some more cleaning after everything so that the house is still nice by the time their plane lands so if I can get it all done right tonight then I can relax tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 320

Hey guys. Today's song is What's Left Of Me by Nick Lachey.

I have had the worst day. I don't know what it is about today, but my mood has been horrible and that seems to make everything awful. I woke up late and was actually having an amazing sleep when my grandpa called to see if I wanted to go to lunch then go get tile. I said no. He didn't listen. Five minutes later my sister's neighbor comes in the door to tell me he's outside (and parked in her spot) so I grabbed my stuff quickly and ran outside. Not that it mattered anyway because all we did was sit in the car in the sun for 40 minutes waiting for my grandma to be off work. I was annoyed and the annoyance continued through lunch and a trip to the store for tile. Then my computer died for about twenty minutes and I thought that it was fully dead since it is six years old. So I had a nice little panic attack until it turned back on and now I think I'm just going to hide in the house until the day is finished. It seems like the safest plan.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 319

Hello. So today's song is No Emotion by Idlewild.

Today I managed to enlist the help of a bunch of family members with the renovations. It came with a catch though. Since my uncle is now the father of a toddler and his wife was at work, he could only help if someone would keep an eye on Mya while he was there. So while he scraped up old tile glue I had to follow around the two year old as she kept trying to pick up hammers and screwdrivers. She got distracted by paw patrol for a little bit and then by my computer while sitting in my lap. We managed to take a picture although she looked away at the last second. They were around for a couple hours then we went to lunch with my grandparents and my mom and I cleaned the house. After she left I started to put the stick tile down in the hallway...but I ran out. So tomorrow's task is to go get some more and keep working. For now I'm enjoying some more Veronica Mars.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 318

Hi everyone. Today's song is Power by Shapes Of Race Cars.

I have made a decision. Being in this house longer than six hours has made me infuriated about the state of the place. We had been doing renos last year, but they got tired of it and their lack of motivation made me stop doing it. After all it wasn't my house so why should I care? Well now I care. A lot. I'm not telling those guys, but I am going to start on the renos again, particularly the half finished floor. I'll probably be scarce with my writing if not my blog posts in general for the next couple days while I'm doing the manual labor. This song and this type of music in general seems good for me today since I'm motivated to do things. So I'm sticking with it and maybe you will too.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 317

Hey. So today's song is Life Is Good by Junk.

I love this song!! This is like a piece of my childhood that I never knew I needed, and I have found this little gem thanks to my insane way of finding new music for you. In the 90's this song was used in a lot of the media that I watched, so it's become subliminally engrained into my brain. It's a happy go lucky song meant to make you optimistic about the day, and I'm going to use that. I don't have much to say today because I'm working on some stuff, so sorry it's kind of lame. I hope you and I have an incredible day and use it to the fullest. Have fun rockin out!

Peace.

Year 3, Day 316

Hiya. So today's song is Lazy Girls by Jill Cunniff.

I heard from Sammy finally and they made it to Mexico safely, although they are having some issues there. She was online long enough to tell me that their hotel is overbooked and can't take them then she signed off. So now I'm slightly concerned about their well-being because Will has only been on one vacation before and Sammy has never been to Mexico. I'm not very confident that they can figure things out on their own...all I can do though is wait. Being in another country means I have no say in what will happen so I need to try not to fret and just focus on the only thing I can do, which is tell my family of this update or wait until I hear more....probably the latter. Alright I'm going to go busy myself so I don't have to think about this, so I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 315

Hey guys. So today's song is It's A Curse by Wolf Parade.

This week is going to feature songs from Veronica Mars because while I'm pet-sitting I'll be rewatching it...again. Judge me if you want, I don't care. It's an amazing show and I will watch it as many time as I damn well please. If you don't like the show then prepare for your opinion to become irrelevant to me (and know that you are now in the same club as my sister.) It'll seem weird but I'm starting with music from season 3 and working back. Why? I have no idea. Let's just see how it works. First up is a Canadian band from Montreal (although the members are technically from BC.) Got together in 2003, broke up in 2011, but still managed to make a mark on the world. This is from the album Apologies To Queen Mary and the first thirty seconds are tantalizing. Check it out.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 314

Hello. So today's song is Life Of The Party by Shawn Mendes.

I love cats. I seem to have a knack of finding cats wherever I go...perhaps I release a scent that announces I'm feline friendly. I was best friends with the cat who lived at the gardening store outside of town (a cat who hid from everyone else) and even got the okay to play with kittens on two farms from the mom cats (who are pretty territorial.) Anyone who has ever seen me around them will be able to tell you I'm a freaky cat lady, we just understand each other. I bring this up because I got a visit from my uncle's neighbor's cat (I assume that's where it came from) when I was over there. Although not an overly friendly creature, I was able to use my extensive knowledge of approaching animals to get it to let me pet it. I knew there was an outside cat around because there were paw prints in the snow, but I did not expect it to be on the deck inspecting Mya's playhouse. So I went out to say hi to it! Unfortunately my overeagerness to befriend a new feline meant that I accidentally let a spider into the house who was trying to escape the cold...so I had to quickly deal with that before Betina got home. Don't worry though I didn't kill it, I just got it back outside so I wouldn't be responsible for creepy crawlies in the house. An essential task if I ever want to house sit again which let's be honest is a yes. I like being able to scream sing my music at the top of my lungs without disturbing anyone else. Something about a large empty house with daylight streaming in makes me feel more optimistic about my life even though it's still crap. I want to share that feeling so go find a spot in your house where you can have some peace, open the blinds so you get natural light and rock out to some happy music. Dance, sing, and I'll see you tomorrow.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 313

Hi. Today's song is Hard Out Here by Lily Allen.

Finally! I have spent the better part of two days trying to get this malware off of my computer. Malware in my opinion is a worse creation than geese because you can at least avoid geese at all costs because you know they're around before they attack you. Whereas malware piggybacks its way onto your computer system and proceeds to act like that creepy buddy of your dads who never leaves your house. You can try to ignore him, but eventually he'll pop up and and invade your privacy to see what you're working on. And yes this is a real story based off of three (THREE) of my dad's friends. Funny enough I've had to deal with malware three times as well and each time is a coded version of one of these guys. First there was Malware Kenny who seemed more terrifying than he actually was because it was my first smart virus encounter (named after my dad's stoner friend Kenny who was actually a nice guy, but whose highly drugged and not understanding life way of talking to me was super creepy.) Then the second encounter was with Malware Jay. This one showed up plopped itself on my system and proceeded to close all my shit because it thought it was being funny. Easy enough to get rid of since I had been through this shit before and it was too dumb (read drunk) to hide itself very well. Named after my dad's friend Jay who came over to drink and watch hockey games who thought that my sass and sarcasm of everything was hilarious and would take off after the game. Then there is the one I finally got rid of today. This one I have dubbed Malware Dave. Now Malware Dave seems harmless. He shows up and throws his shit all over the place, but you pick it up, throw it in a corner and all seems generally fine. You get used to his presence because unlike Jay he didn't immediately disappear, but he wasn't harassing you so you put up with him. And then he touches your shit! Malware Dave fucks with YouTube and every other thing trying to play video of music...not okay. So you try to get rid of Dave with EVERY FUCKING TRICK YOU KNOW, but he clings to life. He is a devious little fucker who pretends to not be a dick. It's only with the help of nerd brains that you destroy Dave once and for all, after thinking you destroyed him three times (it's like a boss battle from a video game). This shithead was named after my dad's best friend for 17 years of my life. He seemed like a cool dude, came over all the time, even helped Sammy and I dig a hole in the backyard when we were grounded (don't ask), but he made a huge mistake. He joked a bunch about taking his cats (that came from the same litter as our cats) out to a lake to put them in a bag with rocks and drown them. No. Not one chance in hell would that stand with me. So that's the story of how his cats became my cats and I refused to unlock the door anytime he showed up. Being friends with my dad was one thing, but threatening to kill a cat is my presence will bring my wrath upon you. Real Dave and Malware Dave are out of my life now but if they come back there will be hell to pay. Oh god haha, I'm sorry guys for the rant that I just unleashed through my keyboard. Ugh...may you not have anything as rage inducing happen to you today? lol

Peace.

Year 3, Day 312

Hiya. So today's song is More Than Words by Extreme.

Okay Rock Of Ages is on TV right now and I'm watching it because I've never seen it before and it's...ridiculous. It's so awkward and I can't take anyone seriously in their roles! Especially Tom Cruise. Holy hell his entrance was the most ridiculous thing I've seen since watching Austin Powers. I kind of love this movie in a "how high were these people when they made this" way, but if they wanted me to take it seriously then it's... I... they missed the mark. I feel like Russell Brand probably didn't need to wear a wig in this. He looks enough like a rocker already... which is probably why they cast him. I really disagree with the casting of Tom Cruise. I know I'm an outlier, but I really do not find him attractive and this is more shirtless Tom Cruise than I ever wanted to see in my life. He needs to stop touching people's boobs AUGH! EWW THE EAR LICKING!!  Ugh that was so disgusting. Tongues and ears do not mix. Is it wrong that the fully wet just came off stage look is something I find attractive? Is that what lasting exposure to rock does to you? Alright I changed my mind about all wrong casting, I now have a little crush on Diego...shit. They end with Journey (which is the only way to end) but I've shown you that song before so instead here is More Than Words which was also used in the movie and is an excellent song. If you like rock songs you should watch this movie even if it may end with you cringing through most of it. Just embrace the awkward.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 311

Afternoon! Today I give you Happy Faces by Babe Youth.

So I have a story for you, but it requires some context. I've never dated. I'm basically as close to a nun as you can get without being religious. Even at 22 I've never even been asked on a date, so the idea of anything linked to romance in my life is literally laughable to my family. We were at breakfast and I was telling a story about how Julie Andrews got the part of Mary Poppins (because this is the kind of thing I talk about with them) and I was about halfway through. Well in the story Julie explains that she's pregnant so she can't take the role. So as I was mimicking the line and saying "I'm pregnant" when our waitress came up. She's our regular waitress so she knows us all pretty well and is privy to any developments in our lives. So she mistook the story as me telling my family that I was expecting and she freaked out. She was so excited and my whole family burst into laughter. I'm talking crazy huge laughter where you can't breathe because you're laughing so hard. Seriously. There were tears. I had to explain that no I was not pregnant and that she just has the worst timing ever. My family got a good laugh out of it and honestly I thought it was kind of hilarious too so I wanted to share it with you. That's all for today, enjoy the song.

Peace.
