Year 8, Day 274

Hey guys. Today's song is She's All I Wanna Be by Tate McRae.

Tate McRae is a Canadian singer active since 2011. She started out in dance, since her mother was a dance instructor, being part of the Drewitz Dance Productions, YYC Dance Project, and the School of Alberta Ballet. In 2013 she started doing voice acting, playing a character on Lalaloopsy for two years. Meanwhile she continued to dance in competitions, and through recognition of her wins became a brand ambassador for Capezio, and was featured in a music video from Walk Off The Earth. She won Best female dancer in both 2013 and 2015, then had some dancing spotlights through 2016 before competing on So You Think You Can Dance, coming in third place. She started her music career in 2017m started a YouTube channel and posting original songs. She released her songs independently, with one viral hit earning her the attention of almost a dozen different labels, with her getting signed in 2019. She released her debut EP in 2020 then, after putting out singles one at a time and earning more and more recognition, she released another EP in 2021. She was featured and collaborated on a couple songs, and earned some Juno nominations before releasing her debut album in 2022 which is where this song is from. Since then she's been nominated for more awards, and has signed deals with companies and performed all over the place, so by now you probably have seen her in some capacity and have a vague idea of who she is. This song is an earworm that latched on to my brain so be warned that it is catchy, but an enjoyable catchy.

Hey guys. Today's song is Boyfriend Of The Year by Bellah Mae.

Alright no official bio for today because this is new new. Usually I say how long the channel has been up, which this one has been active since 2013, but today's song is actually the debut single for Bellah Mae released in 2022. She's a British musician, and as of now has two songs up on YouTube and a couple more versions on Spotify. I think she has some great potential from this one, which I've had saved for a couple months already to show you and I can't wait to hear more. So keep an eye out for her in the future.

Hey guys. Today's song is Talk by Against The Current.

Against The Current has been active since 2011 and is currently made up of Chrissy Costanza, Dan Gow, and Will Ferri with past members being Jeremy Rompala and Joe Simmons. It started with the five of them and earning so fans and fame with song collaboration covers with some popular channels on YouTube including Kurt Hugo Schneider's channel.  Their first EP came out in 2014, at around the same time is when Simmons and Rompala left the group. They released another EP in 2015 and toured through that year, then released their debut album in 2016. In 2017 they collaborated with a gaming company and made the music for the League of Legends World Championship that year. They spent some time releasing singles before doing another EP in 2021. In 2022 they once again partnered up with League of Legends for some music, and also split with their label. So we'll have to wait and see what happens after that. For now, enjoy the song.

Hey guys. Today's song is Come Home by Tonight Alive.

These guys are an Australian rock band active since 2008. Currently the members of the band are Jenna McDougall, Jake Hardy, Cameron Adler, and Matt Best with past members being Whakaio Taahi and Mitchell Stanger. Jenna had actually been working on her own acoustic music when she was approached to do vocals on a song for the group, and she joined up permanently shortly after. They released a debut album in 2010 which they funded themselves, and one of their songs got picked up to be featured in a TV show. They released a short EP the same year before heading out on tour. Around the same time, their music ended up with a producer who liked it and contacted them about making a full length album. They made that album in 2011 and then did some more touring before releasing another EP in 2012. They released their second album in 2013 then supported All Time Low on their tour. They spent 2015 working on their next album that was released in 2016. In 2017 they signed with a new label, and after a member change, released their next album in 2018. The same year they took a touring hiatus following the death of a security guard at one of their concerts, which is upsetting so the break is understandable. There hasn't been much from the group since then, but as of 2022 Jenna has a solo project going called Hevenshe so you guys can check that out if you're interested.

Hey guys. Today's song is Homecoming by Hey Monday.

I talked about missing female pop rockers yesterday which made me think again about this band so I decided to feature them. So Hey Monday was an American band active from 2008 until 2011, and then again in 2019 with members being Cassadee Pope, Mike Gentile, Alex Lipshaw, Chris Gentile, Patrick McKenzie, Elliot James, and Michael "Jersey" Moriarty. Pope and Mike Gentile formed Hey Monday after their old band broke up, and held auditions where they found James who then brought in Lipshaw, and then with Moriarty the band was complete. They were discovered and signed by Pete Wentz, then recorded and released their debut album in 2008. They did a bunch of touring with other well known bands before James left the group after their tour. In 2010 they recorded and released an EP, then did more performances before Moriarty left, being replaced with Mike Gentile's brother Chris. Now I don't know when Lipshaw left, but at this point it was only Pope and the Gentile brothers with performance musicians. They re-released their second EP in 2011, of which a song was featured on Glee, before going on another tour. They then split from the label, and self-released a Christmas EP before going on hiatus. Cassadee Pope went on to win The Voice as a country singer, and the brothers formed another band called Rescue Kid. Pope, Mike Gentile and Lipshaw did get back together in 2019 to perform as Hey Monday for a show, but I think that was a one-off. Even though as a band their career wasn't that long, I still love their stuff and go back to it now and then, so today you get to do that too.

Hey guys. Today's song is Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo.

Olivia Rodrigo is an American singer and actress active since 2015. So she did some commercials, and the TV shows Bizaardvark starting in 2016 and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series in 2019, which I still maintain is the dumbest name of a TV show I've encountered. As for her music career, she signed with a label in 2020, and actually negotiated so she keeps the rights to her masters. The fact that artists know to do that now is a step in the right direction for the music industry because too many have gotten shafted in the past. Olivia's debut single was released in 2021, followed by two more leading up to her debut album. This was the third single she released, which is also featured in her album released later in 2021. As of 2022 she left the show she was cast in so she can focus on music full time. Fun Fact: on this song writing credits were given to Hayley Williams and Josh Farro from Paramore because the chorus is similar to Misery Business. I don't like that Olivia's response to plagiarism claims before the credits were added was along the lines of young women's work gets penalized because that argument suggests only new female artists have to fight these claims which is just not true. But she is right on that pop music is basically all the same four chord progression just done differently, and there is really only so many ways to style it. You guys may remember me showing you the 4 Chord Song from Axis of Awesome and that showcases this point flawlessly. Anyway, I enjoy this song, and it brings to mind the Paramore age of music with female pop rockers that I miss, so if you do too give this one a go.

Hey guys. Today's song is I'm Too Pretty For This by Claire Rosinkranz.

Claire Rosinkranz is an American musician active since 2019, although she was helping her dad out with music before that. When she was a kid she would help her dad with song ideas for the commercials and TV shows he wrote for. Then at 16 she was signed with a label, when songs she posted online earned her some interest. She released her first EP in 2020, followed by another in 2021. She's released some singles since then, including this one from 2022 so she's still going strong, even though her career is relatively new. So I hope you enjoy discovering her stuff today if she's also new to you.

Hey guys. Today's song is Silhouette by Kana-Boon.

These guys are a Japanese rock band active since 2008 and currently made up of Maguro Taniguchi, Hayato Koga, Takahiro Koizumi, and Masami Endō with past members including Hirose Kaede and Yuuma Meshida. They actually formed in high school in 2006 before forming as this band officially in 2008. They've released five EPs and five albums so far, with the first album released in 2013 and the most recent from 2022. The first album came after they had finally signed with a major label, and that was actually after they had already had a lineup change, with Hirose leaving to be replaced by Meshida in 2011. This song is actually a single they released in 2014, and any anime fans might already be familiar with it, as it was used as a theme song for Naruto. I will admit I know of the anime, but it's not one of the ones I watch, I just happened upon this song on YouTube like I normally do. As of 2019 Meshida left the group and Endō joined in 2022, so I guess we'll wait and see what they release now. In the meantime, enjoy the song.

Hey guys. Today's song is High School Never Ends by Bowling For Soup.

I've featured these guys many times before, so let's make this fast. Bowling for Soup is an American band, active since 1994 and is currently made up of Jaret Reddick, Chris Burney, Gary Wiseman, and Rob Felicetti with past members being Lance Morrill and Erik Chandler. The original group formed after all the guys had been in a bunch of different bands before coming together first as Rubberneck before changing the name to Bowling For Soup in reference to a comedy skit. It started with Reddick, Burney, Chandler, and Morrill, then in 1998 Morrill left and was replaced with Wiseman. They have released eleven albums, with the first being from 1994 and the most recent from 2022, interspersed with lots of touring and performances. They had taken a break from touring in the UK for awhile in 2013, citing financial reasons, but that only lasted two years before they were back out there. The two guys also tend to perform their stuff acoustically billed as Jaret & Erik. Chandler left the group officially in 2019, though he hadn't been performing with them for awhile and was replaced by Felicetti, completing the modern lineup. Obviously this is an older song, so Felicetti isn't in this one, but it's the one I had saved, so that's what I'm going with. And honestly the message in this song is still so painfully accurate that it'll never go out of style. Hope you enjoy.

Hey guys. Today's song is Perfect by My Darkest Days.

My Darkest Days was a Canadian rock band active from 2005 until 2013 with members including Matt Walst, Reid Henry, Brendan McMillan, Doug Oliver, Chris McMillan, Paulo Neta, and Sal Costa. So in 2005 Walst , rather than joining his brother's band Three Days Grace, decided to form his own group with the McMillans and Oliver. After Chris McMillan left he was replaced by Neta, who in 2009 was replace by Costa. The group was signed by Chad Kroeger of Nickelback fame, after Walst's brother gave him the demo while Nickelback was touring with Three Days Grace. At some point Henry joined the group as a keyboardist, roughly around 2010. Their debut album was released in 2010, featuring some big names in music at the time, and then they did some touring. Though they didn't win they also were nominated at the Juno's for New Group Of the Year in 2011. Their second album was released in 2012. Costa left the group in 2013, and though the band is still technically listed as active, it just kind of fizzled out after that. Walst became the singer in Three Days Grace in 2013 when theirs left, Costa formed a band called Smashing Satellites, Olive formed a country group called Creek Country, and Henry and MacMillon formed Deadset Society. So when you get through the group discography, there are quite a few offshoots that you can check out.

Hey guys. Today's song is Forever Endeavor by Moxy The Band.

Moxy the Band (not to be confused with the 70's Moxy band) has been active since at least 2022, which is when their YouTube channel went active, and as of right now they have released their debut album which is where this song is from. Although the channel only went active in 2022, they do say they've been writing the album for four years so they at least have been together as a band, if not publicly, for longer. Because they're so new as a group I don't have a lot of information about them, though they mention some of the stuff they had going on in a video, so check that out if you're curious. Otherwise enjoy the song.

Hey guys. Today's song is Life Like You by Blame Candy.

Blame Candy is an American band active since 2016 and made up of Chris Greatti, Aaron Deming, Ryan Wheeler, and Sam Palombo. The only bio I found on them was from the Poppy's wiki because apparently they used to be Poppy's back up band and write some of her music. And there's seems to be some controversy or bad blood going in, but I can't find the whole story and honestly I don't really care. Now this song is from their first EP which the group has removed now, but others have put it up since so that's how I found it. They have other music listed from 2018 to 2020, but nothing since then so I assume the members have some solo stuff going on. Anyway I enjoy this song so hopefully you like it too.

Hey guys. Today's song is Toss A Coin To Your Witcher Remix by Kløn.

Okay this I have had saved since the first season of the Witcher, and I was all happy to put it up and gush about the show, but now this feels more like a goodbye because I'm sorry, but I wont be watching it now that Henry Cavill is gone. He embodied the character, he fought for them to tell it true to the media that already existed and he left because he was tired of the pushback of just trying to get that done, so he chose to stay with Superman instead and let this one go. Not that choosing DC was a great choice in the long run, but that's another story. And picking Liam Hemsworth to replace him? What? Who's bright idea was that? Regardless of how I feel about him as a person, how do you expect to easily go from Cavill to that? So yeah, this is a goodbye for me to a series that I enjoyed, because I don't want to watch it get ruined like a lot of other shows I've seen and now can't watch. I'm talking to you Chuck, Supernatural, Game Of Thrones etc. I have enough in my bittersweet catalogue already. As for Kløn, I don't know much about them other than they are a duo from Belgium, but they have lots of stuff up on SoundCloud if you want to check that out.

Alright I can't confidently write about this musician again today because I don't want to write the wrong thing. So I may be incorrect since I'm monolingual, but I assumed this song is in French, but the only group I find when I look this name up is a Spanish band so I don''t think they're the same since this seems like a solo artist to me, and when I try to open the official social media linked through the YouTube I can't access it. So I really don't know anything other than that this YouTube channel has been active since 2013. Regardless of the lack of info I can give you, I love the song, so I hope you enjoy it too.

Hey guys. Today's song is SCAR by Ashton Irwin.

So Ashton Irwin is an Australian musician active since 2011. Now as some might have already figured out, this is another band member of Seconds of Summer that also now has a solo career. As I mentioned on a different post, the group started with Luke Hemmings posting covers to YouTube, then inviting friends Calum Hood and Michael Clifford to join, with Clifford then reaching out to Ashton Irwin and there the group was formed. As a band they released four albums, the first in 2014 and the most recent from 2020. Irwin's solo career also starting in 2020, since with lockdown for the pandemic there were no plans as a band. So he created and released his debut solo album in 2020, of which this song is from. I think I actually have another one from the album saved to show you later on too, so keep an eye out for that.

Hey guys. Today's song is Stuck In My Head by Significant Others.

Much apologies for the lack of information today guys, but it seems like there are multiple bands named the same thing and with the YouTube channel for these guys only live since last year I can't be sure if I'm writing about the right ones or not. But I still wanted to feature them because this song has been on repeat in my brain since I found it. It's so mellow and groovy, and really helps me to put myself in the right mood to get things done. That might sound weird since usually you would use something upbeat to pump you up into activity, but I work on things that are more focus based, and stuff like this helps to kind of quiet the anxiety and stress of everyday life so I focus only on my task. So I hope you do check these guys out, and the other stuff they've posted over the last year.

Hey guys. Today's song is I'd Rather Dance With You by Kings Of Convenience.

So Kings of Convenience are a Norwegian duo active since 1999 and made up of Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe. The two went to school together, and in their teens were part of the band Skog, releasing one EP with them before the group broke up. After that they formed their duo. They played a bunch of European festivals before getting signed , releasing their debut album in 2001, followed by a remix album the same year. They spent a few years apart after that, with Øye doing some solo stuff before the duo came back with an album in 2004, which is where this song is from. They spent 2008 touring before releasing their next album in 2009. They popped back up briefly in 2012 to perform at some festivals. I assume the gaps are when Øye was doing solo stuff, or like in 2017 doing stuff with his other band, which is pretty normal. The duo announced their next album in 2019, explaining that they tried to record in 2016/2017 but it just wasn't working right, but now they were ready to get back to it. So in 2021 they released a single, the first in over a decade, followed by the release of their album. They also released a documentary at the same time about them and their music, which you can check out if you're curious. I enjoy the mellow groove of this song, and it really feels right for my mood today so I hope you like it.

Hey guys. Today's song is Sad Happy by Circa Waves.

These guys are an English indie rock band active since 2013 and currently made up of Kieran Shudall, Sam Rourke, Colin James, and Joe Falconer with one previous member in Sian Plummer. The original four met at a music festival where Shudall was working as a stage manager, and began playing mini tours across the UK. The name was the brainchild of Shudall, which was the first thing that popped into his head when he needed a name to upload a song to SoundCloud. They released their debut singles at the end of 2013, followed by an EP in 2014. They did some touring and played at a lot of festivals through the year, then released their debut album in 2015. They started on their next album in 2016, releasing some singles from it before the album came out in 2017. Their next album was released in 2019, followed closely by their fourth in 2020, which was released in two parts and to which this song is named for and featured on. They had another EP in 2022 and have an album listed for 2023, but I'm still enjoying this one right now. Hopefully you do too.

Hey guys. Today's song is One Day by Lovejoy.

These guys are a British band active since 2021 and made up of William Gold, Joe Goldsmith, Ash Kabosu, and Mark Boardman. The group started when streamer William Gold (known online as Wilbur Soot) started the group with Goldsmith. They started with the name Hang The DJ, but changed to Lovejoy which is an ode to their friend Benedict Lovejoy. They released two EPs in 2021, with the first earning a spot on Billboard's Emerging Aritsts chart. In 2022 their start started to get more radio play and they released a single that is meant to lead up to their next EP. So we'll have to wait and see when that comes about. In the meantime, give this song a go.

Hey guys. Today's song is I Saw Her Standing There by The Beatles.

So The Beatles was a British band made up of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. The group only lasted ten years, from 1960 until 1970, but they all did solo stuff as well. Two of them are gone now, but the other two are still active. In the early formation of the band there were other members that didn't last, and those people are Pete Best, Stuart Sutcliffe, Chas Newby, Norman Chapman, and Tommy Moore; plus one touring drummer named Jimmie Nicol. The Beatles led the British Invasion (of music). The British invasion basically means that in America suddenly British culture was becoming popular. The same thing happened a couple years ago when suddenly the American music market was flooded with Raggaeton music from artists popular in Latin America. The British Invasion though was huge and unheard of at the time. Ober the decade, the Beatles released 13 albums and one compilation album, and most of those songs are still popular today. They are the best-selling band in history and basically set every possible record there is. Only recently have people been surpassing them in some of those, which is kind of insane. So today is a day for some more of the Beatles. Enjoy!

Hey guys. Today's song is Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson's career starts with his siblings and their group. So let's start with The Jackson 5. They were a sibling group and started out with Tito, Jermaine, Jackie, Michael, and Marlon. They started winning a lot of talent shows, so their dad Joe started booking them gigs. They were signed in 1967 and started performing at strip clubs and opening for Bobby Taylor & the Vancouvers. They eventually got signed to a bigger label that had turned them down twice before, and it marked a jump in their career. They opened for The Supremes then released their debut single along with two more which all topped the charts. They came out with four albums in a year riding the success, becoming the label's main focus, and Right On! magazine's cover darlings. In 1971 the label promoted Michael going solo to keep increasing their sales, followed by Jermaine doing the same. While they both were successful solo, the group overall declined and split with the label in 1975. There was a lawsuit which led to them needing to change their name to The Jacksons. They joined a different label and released an album in 1976 which didn't chart well, and then next album did even worse. Finally they got full creative control and their next two albums from 1978 and 1980 were successful. They kept releasing albums and doing performances, but as Michael got bigger it overshadowed them until he left in 1984. His fifth solo album in 1979 marked the change in his career soundwise and making him a stand alone artist. His next album in 1982 was Thriller with got him seven Grammys and became an institution in the music world with a lot of hits, this song being one of them. He went on the Victory Tour in 1984 with his family. In the late 80's his skin color changed because of some medical conditions and the efforts he made to combat those, and along with the public scrutiny came many more outrageous stories about him, some that Michael reportedly spread himself and some made up by the media. His next album came out in 1987 which was followed by a world tour. He released another album in 1991, then did the Superbowl halftime show in 1993. After that he continued making music and touring, got married, got divorced, was in and out of courts, and got addicted to drugs. He died in 2009 of a heart attack, but it was technically caused by an overdose. I know a lot of you have heard the stuff about him, and know I glossed over a ton of serious shit in the middle, but I just can't write about it. I don't want to know more than what I pick up just existing in the world, but if you guys want to get into all the court stuff I'm guessing there are documentaries that are easy to find.

Hey guys. Today's song is Copacabana by Barry Manilow.

Is there anyone who doesn't know this song? Barry Manilow is an American musician active since 1964 and still going strong. He went to a couple different colleges in the City College in New York, the New York College of music and Julliard. At the same time he also worked for CBS and was asked to arrange song for a musical adaption of The Drunkard. Manilow instead wrote an entire score which was used in the musical, which had an eight year Off Broadway run. He started doing work writing and performing jingles, some of which are still ingrained into my brain. He was a musical director on a TV show, wrote the them for The Late Show, and performed with Jeanne Lucas at a club for two seasons. In 1969 he officially signed with Columbia/CBS Music. Over his career from the 70's until now he has released 31 albums, not including his live albums or compilations. And yes, while this is probably one of his most well known songs, I would bet money that you know and like at least one other thing he's created, because you don't have a career like his without making an impression. Hell even if you still find yourself singing one of his jingles it still counts. Go look him up if you're curious because I barely scratched the surface of his career and there is still lots more for you to learn.

Hey guys. Today's song is Shake Your Booty by KC & the Sunshine Band.

So KC and the Sunshine Band is an American disco/funk group that was active from 1973 until 1985, then again since 1991. There have been too many members to name, so I'm not including the list of past members, but currently the group is made up of Harry Wayne Casey, Maria De Crescenzo, Anika Mungin, Fermin Goytisolo, David Simmons, J Whitt, Steve Lashley, John Reid, Cisco Dimas, Miles Fielder, Felipe Lamoglia, and Michael Joy. The group was started by Casey, and was originally KC & The Sunshine Juckanoo Band since it was formed with studio musicians and members of the Miami Juckanoo Band. Fun Fact: Juckanoo refers to street parades with music, dance, and costumes, and is usually seen in the Caribbean. Casey them met and teamed up with Richard Finch, and brought in Jerome Smith and Robert Johnson as well. After an album release in 1974, they released their self-titled album in 1975, which earned them four Grammy nominations and one win. They released another album in 1975, then yet another album in 1976, which is where this song is from. There was another album in 1978, and one in 1979, but after that the disco craze started to die. They changed labels, and started trying different sounds, then Finch and Casey's partnership crashed and Finch was gone. The band released two albums in 1981 and another in 1982, and in 1984. The albums didn't really do that well. A song that worked on the album in the UK was shot down as a single by the label, since it had failed in the States so Casey formed his own label to release it as a single. It worked for that song, but the album overall failed and Casey retired, leaving the group dormant in 1985. Casey came out of retirement in 1991 and formed the group again, with some new and old members, and has released five albums since then, although two were of material from before the hiatus. But that still means there's lots for you to listen to if you're interested.

So I've mentioned before that I'm doing a book journal this year, but I can't remember if I told you that one of my goals is to read a classic novel each month. So far I've read 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea (which I hated) and The Odyssey (which requires good concentration but was pretty alright). This month I've been reading Dracula... or more accurately listening to a reading of it on YouTube. I thought I knew the story of Dracula because I'm really into fantasy stuff so I consume a lot of vampire content, but it was not what I expected it to be. Dracula is less a character than a sort of boogeyman throughout, you probably see him the least out of everyone, which is a unique way of writing it, but I like it. Van Helsing was kind of a let down as I'm more used to Hugh Jackman's warrior Van Helsing than doctor/professor/semi-madman Van Helsing, but interesting to see what the character started as. I need to know why though everything I've ever seen shows Mina as a meek victim? Sure she wasn't out there fighting, but she was the MVP of the whole story. Without her nothing would have progressed...ever. Spoilers warning, but Mina wrote the letters that led Van Helsing to her, Mina decided to pull out the journal from her husband again, Mina put together all the information so it followed a full history of events, Mina is the reason Renfrew talked and Mina was the last why and how they tracked Dracula. I would argue that she and Dr. Seward are the main characters over anyone else. An argument could be made for the others, but this is just my opinion. If you're curious you should give it a listen, the narrator does a great job of giving everyone a unique voice and making you feel like the characters actually are the ones talking. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it, maybe you will be too.

Year 8, Day 249

Hey guys. Today's song is Nothing Else Matters by Tulia.

Tulia is a Polish folk group active since 2017 and currently made up of Dominika Siepka, Patrycja Nowicka, and Tulia Biczak with a previous member in Joanna Sinkiewicz. They started with posted covers of some songs, which went viral, followed by their first album in 2018. In 2019 they were chosen to represent Poland in that year's Eurovision contest, coming in at number 11. That same year was when Sinkiewicz left the group for personal health reasons. They released two more albums in 2021 so they are still around. If you like what you hear, keep an eye out for more.

Hey guys. Today's song is SOLD by Lana Lubany.

So no official bio again so bear with me. Lana Lubany is a Palestinian-American artist, but is based out of the UK where she moved to when she was 17. She's an independent artist, and like many others seems to have mostly built her fan base through Tik Tok. She released a song called The Snake which went viral, and featured her singing in both English and Arabic, which she followed up with this song which was released this year. She talks about her career and viral status through the internet in an interview where she says that her viral status on Tik Tok gave her more independence and more power, and I would assume leverage when meeting with record execs. Gone are the days when people had to depend on the labels, now those record guys have to actually work for it. I think most artists would agree it's a welcome change. Anyway, Lana is a new artist to me, but definitely has potential so check her out.

Hey guys. Today's song is Dirty Thoughts by Chloe Adams.

Chloe Adams is a British musician active since at least 2013 which is when her YouTube went active. She started with posting covers, then in 2017 started to self publish her own music with producer Matt Lonsdale. Some of her songs went viral on platforms like Facebook and YouTube before she switched to TikTok, posting her music there and gaining an audience in 2021. This song became huge through that platform, although I did find it on YouTube because personally I don't use TikTok. I tend to play hour-long YouTube videos while working on other things instead. But I'm glad that there is a platform that seems to work well for artists to showcase their work to the masses. Anyway, enjoy!

Hey guys. Today's song is I LUV U by Mia Rodriguez.

Mia Rodriguez is an Australian musician active since 2019 when she started posting on TikTok. She signed later in the year with a label and released her debut single at the end of the year. She released another single in 2020, earning millions of views on YouTube, and performed live as support for Lime Cordiale, another Australian group. She released another single, this one produced by a member of Lime Cordiale, and then was a presenter at the virtual ARIA Music Awards in 2020. She released another single in 2021 and won a Rolling Stone Australia award for Best New Artist. She released three more singles in 2022 with this song being her most recent release. I haven't heard much since then, but I expect we will in the future so keep watch for that.

Hey guys. Today's song is If I Died Last Night by Jessie Murph. 

Another one with no official bio so bear with me. So Jessie Murph is an American musician, and has been active since at least 2015 since that is when her YouTube went up. Despite that though, she actually rose to fame through TikTok which she started in 2019. She has done lip syching videos, shared songs of her own, and done covers all of which raised her popularity. Increasingly over the last year she has been making and posting music videos for her original songs on YouTube so I see that only continuing and her getting even more recognition. So give the song a listen and if you like her stuff, go check out more and spread it around.

Hey guys. Today's song is Pretty Little White Lie by Sally Wallick.

So Sally Wallick is another artist with no official bio so I can't tell you much about her yet. She's been around since at least 2011, which is when her YouTube channel went up, and she does have her stuff up on Spotify with most of her listeners being from Canada which is also where she's from, based out of the Okanagan in BC. It looks like she has mostly been a performer at weddings and parties, but I guess we'll see as time goes on about if she branches out from that. In the meantime, enjoy!
