Year 3, Day 365

Hi. Today's song is Four Seasons by Vivaldi.

Okay last day! I'm honestly surprised that I got to this point, it's been kind of a tough year for me motivation wise. Thank you guys for being patient with me and my sporadic posting and rants about nothing. I promised you guys classical music until the end and I saved the longest for last. So the Four Seasons is just that: four seasons. There are different parts for spring, summer, winter, and fall. It's one of those pieces that no one thinks about, but we've all heard it before because as far as classical music goes, it's very popular. I don't expect all of you to want to listen to 40 minutes a classical right now, but just keep it in mind if you're ever bored or freaking out and need something to calm you down. With it being the last song it's be here for you for when you're ready: easy to find...at least for awhile.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 364

Hi. So today's song is Hounds of Spring written by Alfred Reed.

I had a chat with my uncle today about Disney movies. It started because of the Frozen doll on the floor in their house that Sammy gave to Mya. So Mya is still at that age where she's more interested in Paw Patrol than into princesses, but give it a few years and I will Disnefy her. I mentioned that despite Sammy being absolutely in love with Frozen, I didn't think it was as epic as everyone else does. My uncle agreed and mentioned an underrated classic that is preferable to almost any Disney creation: Fantasia. Obviously I talk about it a lot and that's why I'm showing this classical stuff, but further proof that it's underrated is that Betina has never even heard of it. Today's song isn't from Fantasia, but it very easily could be. Instead it's one of Sammy's favorite classical pieces. I figured picking it would be enough of an apology for dissing her favorite film. She plays clarinet, so she gets to do some of the crazy runs that you hear

Peace.

Year 3, Day 363

Hey. Today's song is Oh Freedom by The Golden Gospel Singers.

I cannot possibly explain to you guys how much I adore this song. I am in love with it. I want it played at my funeral. The reason that this song is made and what it alludes to doesn't apply to me at all, but it's beautiful and powerful. When I listen to it, I can't help but stop everything else I'm doing and sit still. The only way I listen is intently and if I could be sent off from this world in any way: I would want it to be a statement. Let's hop it's not for a long time though, but I'm tucking this away for later. I can't tell you guys how many times I wished I could join one of these black gospel choirs. Their voices and the passion they create has always made me envious because our little high school choir could never do the gospel pieces justice. We sounded like we were mocking them, even when we tried hard. I always wanted to convey emotion the way they did, and since I can't personally do it, I need to introduce you guys to someone who can. Please listen and feel with them. It can change your world.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 362

Hi. Today's song is Firebird Suite by Stravinsky.

I have mentioned Fantasia to you before when I showed one of the movie clips with my favorite classical song, but we need to talk about it's importance again. I think I appreciate classical music the way I do today because of a few factors: one of them being Fantasia. From a young age my sister and I would watch Fantasia which is only cartoon shorts created to classical pieces. It's so captivating and the music is phenomenal. Another thing that added to my love of classical was learning and listening to the life story of Back and Beethoven along with other greats when I was in elementary school music class (I had a great teacher.) I can say though that I wouldn't have cared except that I knew some of their stuff before school started. If you do nothing else to teach your kids about classical music as a style, at least make them watch Fantasia. It will never get old, I make people watch it now who have never seen it. Please please check it out if you've never heard of it. It's fabulous.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 361

Hi. So today's song is  It Was Always You / What I'm Looking For performed by Eclipse 6.

I posted an instrumental piece on my sister's birthday as an ode to her being a music nerd, but I've decided that the rest of this year's songs will be extra musical like that. Some will be choral, some instrumental, and all will be awesome. I know most people my age don't like classical music (which is such crap) so I'm going to ease into it with covers on non classics. Such as Fall Out Boy a few days ago and Maroon 5 and U2 today. Near the end though I think I will send you off with a fully classical piece to remember me by until the next blog year. Hopefully that will inspire some searching on classical and a new found appreciation for the style. These guys I'm pretty sure I showed you before, but I'm doing it again because they are easily becoming one of my top ten five vocal groups. A lot of it has to do with them all being guys. It was always hard to get guys to be in choir and so the male parts were severely lacking, making me yearn for strong male leads. Plus male voices are so good and sometime you really don't want to listen to a soprano screeching on top of everyone else. Some tenor and bass songs are needed and enjoyed greatly. So have a liten and I hope you enjoy it.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 360

Hello. So today's songs is ICCA Medley by Pitch Slapped.

Well my appetite is back. I have been starving all day. I know, I know the day has barely started but this is actually the end of my day considering I haven't slept yet, so it still counts. I had to wait to make food so I wouldn't wake up anyone else in the house, so as soon as they left for work at 5 am I went to the kitchen. Sometimes being an insomniac makes you do weird things like making macaroni and cheese at five in the morning. All I need to seem like a burned out college student is to be making it on a hotplate rather than a stove. Enough about me though because I'm boring. This "song" for today is actually a mashup of a bunch. Listening to stuff like this always makes me really nostalgic for choir, although we were never this good. Then again these people are in school specifically for music and we were just a high school choir for extra credits. So the actual songs in this are "Take Your Time," "Radio Song," "Ain't it Fun," "Take Back the Night," "Say Something," and "Come on Over." There's been a lot of times in my life when people have asked me why I didn't go to college to pursue music considering I'm so passionate about it. It's because the people who do pursue music professionally are next level. My singing is a hobby, their singing is a full blown talent. I hope you guys watch the whole thing because it gets better the longer you listen, but if it's not your thing I understand. Choral music isn't for everyone...I just wish it was.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 359

Hi. Today's song is a little different. Here's Dance, Dance performed by the Vitamin String Quartet.

Today is my sister's birthday! Hooray. Apparently my lack of enthusiasm for birthdays has rubbed off on her because she hasn't wanted to do anything. I was over at her house still when it hit 12:00 am, so I wished her a happy birthday before her and Will had a nap. We had breakfast at eight with family so they wanted to sleep a bit first since that's in the middle of her nighttime. I however didn't and went home to watch iZombie for a bit. Then we went and celebrated with my grandparents, mom and my uncle and his family. He was mad at us for not telling him it was earlier than normal, but everyone told me he was out of town. So disheveled and peeved, he gave us an earful before we sang to my sister. This is a photo of her when she was younger and I was still a tiny alien child so maybe three or four? She still looks the same though which is odd.
look at that adorable little shit.

Then Mya was a good distraction for everyone which I think Sammy really appreciated. Her and Will went to the mall then I came over when she asked only to find she was asleep. So right now Will and I have been hanging out. I told him about iZombie so we're watching that...it's slightly awkward because he's paying attention to me fangirling in the corner over the hotness of Bradley James. Whatever, I enjoy having a TV show buddy to converse with about the plot, and Anna is too busy with school to be as avid a viewer as I am. So we're going to finish iZombie, then continue with all the Marvel stuff in chronological order and hopefully Sammy will wake up at some point for Supernatural.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 358

Hey. So today's song is Africa by Toto.

As you guys know I love Marvel, so I decided to watch Daredevil. So I've never really heard of Daredevil before, so I was pretty intrigued when I found out he was blind. The first episode hooked me. The actor is a perfect choice and was slightly unnerving when he was supposed to be...which I don't normally fall prey to. As you can imagine like all the other Marvel thing of late, it is fantastic and has been renewed for a second season. They didn't plan on doing one because they're starting three more hero origin stories before bringing them together as the Defenders. The Netflix TV shows from Marvel are basically going to work the same way as the movies have: introducing the character then putting them together occasionally. I'm excited to see it since I don't know much about the lesser known Marvel characters. I'm curious what you guys think about Daredevil (if you don't have Netflix you can find it online) and Marvel in general. I'm hoping I'm not the only uber nerd out there.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 357

Hi. Today's song is Try by Colbie Caillat.

I've been having a really low point this week and believe me I wouldn't write this out and send it into the world to you guys if I had another outlet. I don't know if any of you have depression problems, but I've been trying to deal with it for nine years. I've never been too bad, not like other people since I don't need medication, but that doesn't make it any less valid. This week I can count how many days since I left the house: five; how many glasses of anything I've drank: one a day; how many meals I've eaten: one every two days; yet I can't count how many hours I've been awake. I wanted to reach out for help. I really did, but my friend is busy with school, my sister is busy with work and my family isn't an option. Most of them aren't even in the picture, but my grandparents know. They see it happening to me and it scares them, but I can't talk to them about it... I can't lay that burden out for them to take. My grandma seems to understand and never pushes me, she knows I'll ride it out until I feel okay again. My grandpa tries really hard to be there for me, even if he doesn't know how to help. I can tell that this week he's been seriously worried about me, because he just sat beside me and held my hand. This may not seen like much, but it's a huge gesture in a family that doesn't really do physical contact. The only person who makes a point to hug is my aunt, and she married in to our group. I know he meant it as a sign of strength, to show that we're together in this but it only made me feel worse. It's hard to know that I'm the reason he's stressing himself. I know this isn't what you came to read and it's probably going to mess up your mood, but I need to purge this feeling from my system before Saturday. It's my sister's birthday and I need to be there for her. I'm ending this here because I don't know what to say, I can't put a positive spin on this one. I guess I just hope you guys are doing better right now than I feel.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 356

Hello. So today's song is All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor.

I know that literally everyone knows this song already, but I've had it saved since before it went super nova viral and everyone got sick of it so I need to put it up even if no one plays it right now. I hate the controversy that it started because I was so happy there was finally a song that wasn't subtly hinting at being thin. Even if some songs don't comment on it in the music, there is subliminal messaging in videos and I thought this one was beautiful. I didn't expect all the backlash about skinny shaming to be a thing and I was truly upset people were focusing on that. After how much fat shaming there has been in the world, and usually from some of the people freaking out about the skinny shaming I didn't want to listen. Yes we shouldn't make fun of each other at all, I know that. But I truly feel this song was not made with the intention of making skinny people upset with themselves, it was meant to be empowering for the ones who normally feel shame. I've been listening to both sides for months and now I've made my own opinion about it, and I think this song is fine. It's started both healthy and unhealthy debates, the controversy has served its purpose now we should just focus on if we like the song or not, which despite it being overplayed so much, I do.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 355

Hey. So today I give you Just One Of The Guys by Jenny Lewis.

On Blogger which is this thingy that's you're reading I can see the views and stuff which is pretty cool. I mean, it's also pretty shitty because it's usually at zero or at one when I check that it formatted nicely meaning my viewership is nonexistent for the most part, but sometimes there is a spike. Sometimes there is a huge jump that show twenty plus views for that day and I get really excited and insecure at the same time. I can check which countries the views come from, and this month there have been three, so I want to say a very special hello to you guys in France, Switzerland and Russia for checking this out. Also of course you guys from the States that are always popping up on my audience list, you consistently creep at my blog so thank for that. If you are reading this in Canada...I'm sorry I never say hi, I just assume those are me so....hi. If you're wondering there isn't really a topic that I have to chat about today and to be honest I haven't picked a song yet, so I wanted to take the opportunity and say thanks for looking. I'm not sure if you guys read anything I write...maybe you just use it to find music which is totally fine, but if you do: this one is in honor of you.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 354

Hi. Because of the topic, today's song is Change The World by V6.

Okay I told you guys I was watching InuYasha right? Well I finished it and I am so mad right now. The problem is that I really liked it and it had so many funny moments, but then...urgh. So I don't know what exactly happened when they were making it, but they had the show InuYasha and then another one after called InuYasha The Final Act. Essentially two different TV shows. So the first one ends with absolutely nothing resolved and I freaked out because that is heart crushing to have such a big cliffhanger and never come back. Then I find out about the 26 episodes of the final act and I'm like "alright, so they'll wrap it up quickly and then we'll get to see their lives and such to make us all happy." Well one of the voice actors for a main character is different which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I almost couldn't watch it, but the rest were the same so I powered through. The in the last episode, basically the last two minutes literally everything gets resolved quickly with no real explanation. I am happy that the happy ending is there but....why. I'm trying not to spoil anything for those who want to watch or haven't made it to the end, but the final little jump....I just, ugh I don't understand why that would have become an option again and if it's like a one time choice or what. I'm confused and a little upset and needed to write about it because despite finishing it hours ago I still have not been able to switch my thinking to any other topic. Hopefully now I can move on with my life. Hopefully.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 353

Hello. Today's song is Paper Planes by M.I.A.

So yesterday ended up being pretty eventful. You see, Sammy was supposed to take Greg and Becca to go shooting and Will was going to come with. Except Will ended up having to work late, so Sammy needed somebody else with a P.A.L. to come with her so she could bring both guns and so both first timers had someone to supervise them. Guess who the only other person with a P.A.L is. At the risk of sounding like a stupid kids TV show: if you guessed me, you'd be right! Problem being that I've never shot before, but since I have a my license I can supervise myself, because even though they don't teach you to shoot, they teach you everything else. I ended up having to take Greg to get his ID and completely fucked up a traffic circle in doing so which messed me up pretty well for the rest of the night. So when we got back to Sammy and Becca already shooting at the range, my hands were shaking a bit from the drive...then I got the gun. I somehow in the first two shots managed to not hit the target, but completely take down the cardboard that holds it up... which of course everyone thought was hilarious. I wasn't aiming, so the fact that two tries and that happened is pretty cool, but I was thoroughly embarrassed. I was still shaking really bad so I didn't do much more shooting, instead letting Greg and Becca use up the rounds and make some pretty amazing shots. They had fun and Becca asked me about getting her P.A.L so I'd say it was a success.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 352

Hey everybody. So today's song is Summertime Blues by Eddie Cochran.

I'm currently over at Sammy's house because she said she wanted to hang out. In actuality, Greg and I are hanging out and she is sleeping...again. The amount of time I get invited over just to sit there while she has a nap is completely absurd. I'm getting the chance to learn a lot about Greg though. How he thinks, what's new in his life...everything that I would never know if we weren't chatting one on one. He apparently broke up with his girlfriend yesterday (although she doesn't know it yet) and he's close to breaking a weight lifting record for the school. It's weird to think he'll be graduating high school in a few months... it's weird thinking that it's been five years since I graduated! I've done very little with my life in the last five years, and now I understand how unrealistic the ten year reunions are in movies. Or maybe I'll just become uber fabulous in the next five to make up for the failure of the first. Only time will tell I guess.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 351

Hi. Today's song is Beyond The Sea by Bobby Darin.

So I used to be in choir in high school, and one of the trips we took was to L.A. We went for a week about basically never performed because America is big on show choir, not actual choir, but we did get to go see some cool stuff. One of the things was Grease. I have some of my old teachers on Facebook and found out that they're going again this year, but they get to go see Newsies. I'm so jealous. I love Grease, but I've seen it so many times that it doesn't have that spark of uncertainty when I watch it anymore, even when it's on stage. However I have never in my life seen Newsies and have wanted to for years! It also looks like they get to perform more which makes me a little bitter. No one really went when I was there because the trip is expensive, so our almost 100 member choir was reduced to about 20. It kind of sucked. The ones going this year have 55, which is better but still not ideal. I'm just going to have to reign in my jealousy and hope that the ones who go at least represent my school well. After all, choir was the only good thing about high school. Well that's my rant for today, I should probably leave it at that before I become even more annoying.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 350

Hey. So today's song is Get A Job by The Silhouettes.

I've had such a craving to watch InuYasha these last couple days so I've decided I'm finally going to. I was never really into anime, but when I was a kid my sister was. She has the whole thing on DVD somewhere. I however am a sad excuse of a viewer and watch the English dubbed version, so I can watch rather than read. I've never seen the show the whole way through because like I said I didn't care back then. I care now though. It'll be no Ouran High School Host Club, but I think it'll be my second favorite. We'll see if I like it, I'll keep you posted.

Peace.

Year 3, Day 349

Hello. So today's song is Searchin' by The Coasters.

I've spent the day trying to find a certain picture from my childhood to no avail. It's a picture of me in elementary school when I brought my cat in for show and tell to school. The reason I wanted to find it is Star (the cat) is turning eighteen years old on Friday. This cat is only four years younger than I am! I figured it would be a good excuse to do a throwback Thursday tomorrow since I never do them, but I haven't found it yet. I did however come to the realization that I was a cute kid. I was super cute until I was about eleven, that's when my weight started to become and issue and was the beginning of a very self conscious me. Some pictures I'm doing the most adorable poses, but then in others I'm making the face... I was famous for the face. According to my grandam I didn't like getting my picture taken, but I think I was just a grumpy kid. You could make a fucking movie montage of all the pictures of me making the grumpy face in my lifetime.

Year 3, Day 348

Hiya. So today's song is Big Bad John by Jimmy Dean.

This song may seem like a weird one, but I hear it so often when I'm with my grandparents. In their car, they listen to old country on a radio station apparently hosted by Willie Nelson. This song plays a lot, and I can't help but think of my dad when I hear it.My dad's name is John as you can guess, and he had a friend we all called Little John. I don't know why... I eventually came to the conclusion that that made my dad Big John, which probably had something to do with this song. My dad though is not as cool as Big Bad John. Anyway it's a cool song for its time and even now so I wanted to share it with you.

Peace.
