Hey. So today's song is The Wonder Years by Jon Bellion.
One of the comments on this video is about how Jon is a good different compared to other artists. I completely agree. This song is so pretty, cool, and catchy...it's just generally amazing. You can sing along easily at parts and he puts a lot of changes in it so it stays interesting. Today was a nice day and listening to this song while driving down an empty sunny road...that's basically what I want my whole summer to be like. You should seriously check out more of his stuff. Here is his Facebook, Twitter, and website so you can look him up and share his stuff with others.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 36
Hello. So today's song is Powerful by Christy Angeletti.
I swear I've heard this song in a movie somewhere, but I can't for the life of me figure out which one it could be. I might just be insane since it seems to not be very well known, but it sounds so familiar. I'm probably just insane and have had it playing in my own head for awhile that I've now tricked myself into thinking I've known it forever. It wouldn't be the first time that's happened...This song came out in 2011 and since then Christy has released a bunch of CD's. Although still not as popular as she probably should be, she is an awesome musician. As I promised here is her Facebook, Twitter, and band page so you can check out more of her stuff.

Year 3, Day 35
What's up. Today I give you I Wish by Cher Lloyd ft. T.I.
So you guys might remember Cher Lloyd from the last year I did when she blew up from the UK and became crazy famous where I am. Since then she's released a couple different songs and I honestly haven't liked most of them. I mean, yes it helps to be in the right mood, but I decided I needed to invest my time to find one more that I like. This one I do like, despite it being about ridiculous beauty standards. I'm not going to go into the whole "love yourself for you" rant because honestly I would just be a hypocrite and I'm sure you hear it enough already. So just check out the song and tell me what you think.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 34
Hey Guys. So today's song is Crush by David Archuleta.
This is a little bit of a blast from my past. David Archuleta had gotten pretty popular because he was really good, and then he disappeared right off the map. That's because he left for a two year mission with his church. I've had friends go on missions and it's easy to forget that they're still around because you never ever hear from them. The rumor is that now that he's back from his mission he is making more new music, but I guess only time will tell. Whatever he does this song will always be great, give it a listen.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 33
Morning! So today's song is I Like It Like That by Hot Chelle Rae.
Sammy surprised me. I for sure thought she would hate this song, but she actually kind of loved it. You see, normally anything I like she doesn't. We are very much Ying and Yang a lot of the time. It might be a sister thing, because I see it, but other people will disagree with me and say we're so similar. Despite me knowing that she shuts down most of the things I show her, I continue to do it because sometimes you get gems like this that make us both happy. I love how the video is just the band goofing around on tour and hanging out. Instead of trying to play up a facade in a music video they just filmed their lives and put it together. I can say from experience this is something normal people do too, they just don't show the whole world their compilations. I applaud these guys for being themselves and making a sick song. Check it out.

Year 3, Day 32
Hi. So today's song is Beautiful Life by Union J.
I finally got a day of peace so I'm in a good mood today, hence such a happy song. I need to address something in society though. There are so many people hating on this band because they are "copying One Direction." I'm sorry, but since when was One Direction the first boy band the world has ever seen? Answer: it's not! Boy bands have been around forever, they are just becoming mainstream again. My generation had the Backstreet Boys and N*Sync, before that 98 Degrees and Boys 2 Men, before that, New Kids On The Block, New Edition, Menudo, The Osmonds, The Jackson Five. See a pattern? The list goes on. It stems back to way before One Direction's parents were even born, so tweens: you need to suck it up. I know you love your band and are protective of them as unique artists, but realize that you can like another boy band at the same time. Union J has good songs and the harmonies are solid, so listen without comparing them to someone else.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 31
Hey guys, so today's song is Wake Me Up by Avicii ft Aloe Blacc.
Here's a little bonus video of this song for any piano buffs out there. Sorry for all the personal stuff, it's been a crazy few days. My dad now thinks I'm suicidal based on things I said taken out of context. Anyone who really knows me knows it's a ridiculous notion for me and that I already dealt with severe depression seven years ago, and managed to make it through that. On the flip side, my mom found an old diary entry from my 8th birthday. All I had written was about how awesome my family is and how much I loved my parents and sister, my sister most of all. My mom found this dated, but thinks my sister wrote it...she's 22 months older than me so our birthdays aren't even similar. What even. I'm so done with living like this: with people who don't know me. That's why I've chosen this song. I've been lost and just floating in a dream like haze through my life, but I want that to be over now. I am pledging to you and to myself that from now on I'm waking up and living my life for me. No more stressing over other people's lives and interactions when I can't do anything about it, no more bending over backwards to appease people I dislike. At least I'm going to try... So if you feel like you have also been doing this way too much in your life, take the pledge with me. We can all get through it. Together.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 30
Yo. Today's song is Going To Hell by The Pretty Reckless.
So you know how yesterday I said that it went surprisingly okay with my dad? I retract that statement. Today was the worst day of my life. From telling me I'm untrustworthy and can't be left alone in the house, to checking to make sure I didn't steal anything my nerves were fried. As I was packing up my stuff my dad decided to tell me about all the things he was going to do that were his way of getting back at me. I got out of there as fast as I could. After what happened it's safe to say that I'm going to be cutting him out of my life completely and as quickly as possible. Certain people are cancers in your life and sometimes the best thing for you to do is separate yourself from that in order to live your own life. This song is the only true rocker song I have and it's kind of what I need today. What's super weird is this girl played Cindy Lou Who in the Grinch. That's quite the difference a few years has done. She's actually the same age as me which is weird. She seems to be doing so much better than she should be at 21. Anyway check out the band on Facebook and at the website.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 29
What's up. So today's song is Another Night by Amasic.
This song is kind of appropriate for what I just did. I literally just went upstairs and told my dad that I'm moving out and in with a different family member until I can branch out on my own. What you guys don't know is my dad is a scary person. He seemed to take it alright, but I could read the judgement on his face. He told me the reasons I gave him were lies and I probably had something about him that was why I am leaving and I was too scared to say it. I denied that so now as I write this he is anger cleaning upstairs (he's OCD.) I say this song is appropriate because moving is like closing the final chapter of my life at SAIT. Doing school, pulling all nighters, goofing around with my friends, going out drinking with them...it seems to last so long, but as of tomorrow it will be over. All I have left is tonight which if you listen to the lyrics...yeah. These guys are a great band and I hope you check out more of their stuff so here is their Facebook, Twitter and a link to buy the CD. Enjoy!

Year 3, Day 28
Hey, so today's song is Chloe by Emblem 3.
This is a band that Carmen droned on and on about for awhile so I finally looked into them. They're pretty damn good and kind of remind me of a very pop heavy Down With Webster. I don't know why, but they do. And obviously as most of you know I love Down With Webster so that is a compliment in my mind. I will feature them on here later on, but let's focus on these guys. So it's two brothers and a best friend who tried out for X Factor in 2012 with an original song. That's a pretty risky thing to do, but it worked in their favor because they sounded like rock stars....and now they kind of are. Here's the bands Facebook and website. Check them out.

Year 3, Day 27
Morning! Today's song is Gotta Get Thru This by Daniel Bedingfield.
This song is kind of appropriate for today. See, I'm moving and it is hell. I just keep thinking to myself that I need to power through it, so I keep listening to this song while I'm doing stuff. It's like a little pep talk. It's so weird that this is considered old now. It came out in 2001! I feel so old now...Where were you guys in 2001? I was in elementary school, and that same year we got to do murals on the gym bricks. Each family had one and we could do whatever we wanted. Since we're the Fisher's, we did an ocean theme and each family member was a different kind of fish. Not to brag or anything, but ours was the coolest one! I'll have to try and find you a picture. They painted over those now...I guess after thirteen years no one really knows who you are anymore so you have to. It's incredible how things change in that amount of time. I am a completely different person than back then. I think it's for the better even though I am a lot more cynical. Do you guys think you're better off than you were? Let me know.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 26
Hey. Today's song is Hey Na Na by Katie Herzig.
We're going to go a little weird today with this one, but like a good weird. This song so easily gets stuck in my head because it's so catchy. It makes me feel happy listening to it. And she is so strange! I love it! This is the best random music video I've seen because it's something that could easily happen with my friends and I. It's just them goofing around in a room with a bunch of stuff and a dog. Then they bring the balloons in... I secretly have always wanted to be in a room solely filled with balloons. I mean, I was wish 5000 of them but they had helium and therefore were all over the ceiling. I want to walk through them and bop them everywhere. If you're wondering why I was in a room with that many balloons it was a proposal, and it was magical...and really warm. Anyway you can check Katie out on Facebook, Twitter and her official site. You're welcome.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 25
Hello. So today I give you All These Things That I've Done by The Killers.
These guys have a lot of well known songs. I would count this as one since I've know it forever despite never actively trying to listen to The Killers. And yet, I didn't even know the title until today. It's like classical music in the way where you know you've heard it before, but if anyone asks you what it is, you couldn't describe it. This happens to me frequently so I usually end up singing at people in hopes I don't botch it too badly and they recognize what I'm doing. My sister and I are good at this game, but most other people just stare at me like I've had a mental break. Has this ever happened to you guys or is that just me? Anyway, check out the song.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 24
Hi everybody. So today's song is Jump In The Line by Harry Belafonte.
Here's an older song, but a goodie. You never really get tired of this one and it just makes you happy. When I hear this song, I can't really help but move to it. Now I suck at dancing, so I basically look like I'm having a seizure to music. It's laughable, but I don't care. Life is better when you don't take yourself too seriously. So forget who's watching and shake shake shake to this song.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 23
Morning. So today's song is I Love A Piano by Tony Desare.
This is possibly going to be my favorite song for the whole year because I live it so much. First off, Tony DeSare is super talented and seems like a fun guy. Second, New York is cool. I've talked about the art movement before, so you should see a sign of it here. An organization called Sing For Hope put different pianos all over New York with signs saying play me. So...Tony did. The song itself is brilliant, and I particularly enjoy that he put a piece of Rhapsody In Blue in the song. Beautiful! Most people don't know Rhapsody In Blue by its name, but they do know the tune because it's been used in many things, including a skit from Fantasia 2000. If you like classical music find that, watch it. You'll love it.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 22
Hey. So today's song is Rooftops by Lostprophets.
I thought long and hard about whether or not to showcase this song. Yes the lead singer is a disgusting human being, but the band is made up of five people. Should they all be punished because of that one guy? My answer is no. If you separate the political aspect from the music, it is a good song. It's catchy and fun, I like it. The news about the lead singer has kind of ruined this band for me which makes me very upset since I did like them a lot, so if you listen and want to keep them in your good graces, don't look up what's been happening. Just listen to the music and keep it separate.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 21
Alright, today's song is Same Love by Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis featuring Mary Lambert.
I'm going to get opinionated on you today. This song and video is entirely accurate and everything beautiful about equal rights. African Americans got it. Women got it. Now it's time for the gender orientation to stop. Sure there will always still be people who are racist, sexist and homophobic (my dad being all three) but as funny as a concept this may be: other peoples lives are none of our business. Love is love so just let it be. This is the main message in the song too. I know there are people out there, maybe even some of you reading this, who disagree with my acceptance of everyone. That's fine, I'm not expecting you to change your opinion just because I stated mine. I do however hope that my lack of persuasion for you to conform to me will convince you to do the same with others. We can all share our opinion and disagree, but the hostility comes from demanding others think the way you do. So I wont. Alright that's enough of my thoughts for today, listen to the song and tell me what you think.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 20
Hi!! So today I give you Knights Of Cydonia by Muse.
There's a few Muse songs that I wanted to showcase, but I ended up going with this one. Now I am not ashamed to admit I was first introduced to Muse by the Twilight movie. Yes, I watched it. The books were really good, I couldn't know the movie would be crap until I watched it. Really the only part of the movie I could stand was the scene with the family playing baseball to Muse's Supermassive Black Hole recording. Since then I have listened to a few Muse songs. That one will always be my favorite, but this one is pretty good too so give it a listen.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 19
Hey guys, so today's song is Surrender by Laura Pausini.
This song came out awhile ago, but I still love it. I kind of grew up listening to it and similar artists. I just like how it's about giving up on trying to find reasons things don't work, it's a song for letting go and realizing how great your life is. Sure it's mostly about love, but the concept can be put to anything. This is something that I need to do in my own life instead of looking at the obstacles...I need to look at the achievements instead. Starting today I'm going to try and do that. Bring it on world! I'm here and no obstacle is going to take me down. You guys should do the same.
Peace.

Hello. So today's song is B4 I Get 2 One by Miss Amani.
Lots of people know this song from Dating Rules From my Future Self. Now I knew this song before that, but it honestly was best used in the mini series. It is the perfect song for a breakup when you need to feel awesome. So I'm not an expert on breaking up, since I've never even dated anyone and my friends haven't exactly needed moral support for any dudes...we're a stable group of people lol. Regardless there is still a set list of what to do when you cut that person out. So in the event any of you need the list, here it is. 1. Wallow: I know most people would disagree with me on this, but it's good to realize that that was a huge part of your life and have a chance to mourn that it's over. So watch sappy movies with your friends in your PJ's while eating ice cream and crying if need be. Get it all out of your system because you only get that one night. 2. Cleanse: remove all the pictures of him, get rid of his stuff, change the name in your phone, so you know not to pick up...basically remove every trace that he ever existed. 3. Transform: Do something for yourself, go to the spa, get your hair done, full make over, shopping spree...whatever. Just make yourself feel awesome and let that be the new you. 4. Let Go: Realize that you are probably going to run into him again and depending on how long you were together, run in the same group of friends. In order to make it easier for everybody, have it out with him alone, tell him how you feel and that it's for sure over, but that you both need to be mature about this and not drag everyone down. You may not be friends again, but at least be okay enough to tolerate each other in the same place. There you go, an easy to follow list. This song would come into play during the cleanse and transforming, so if you find yourself in that position rock out to this, it should help.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 17
Sup! So today's song is Blue Sky by He & She.
This song has kind of become internet famous through the sharing of the video above. A little disclaimer. He & She id the band, not to be confused with She & Him with Zooey Deschanel. To avoid checking out the wrong band, I found the correct bands Facebook and YouTube Channel. It's a perfect song for the compilation of animals that I've linked, and is just generally a feel good tune. I frequently find myself singing it when I'm wandering around the house doing stuff, because it is catchy, but the catchiness is subtle. It's not so in your face as radio hits where you want to smash an ice pick into your memory to make it stop playing on a loop in your head. This song instead just kind of lays in wait until you've nothing else and pops up to make you smile. This neat little song is perfect for Mother's Day so enjoy it, and maybe even share it with your mom. She might like it too.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 16
I want to show you something different today. This is Peer Gynt performed by Sjællands Symfoniorkester.
They're otherwise known as the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra.I've been listening to this recording for months while in school. It helped me to keep calm and focused while doing homework. I love when people do stuff like this: the random acts of music. I believe that I've mentioned it before, but I just love seeing the evidence. People are barely exposed to classical music in this day and age and you wouldn't see tweens in a music hall to see that type of concert. So when orchestra's force themselves subtly into the public magic happens. I'll feature a few more classic tunes on here so you get all types of music. I hope you'll like it.

Year 3, Day 15
Hello. So today's song is I'm In A Hurry by Alabama.
So I'm hanging out with my sister today, and we have a soft spot for old country from our childhood so that's why this is today's song. It's also fitting because when at Sammy's there is so much stuff to do. They're leaving to go to Tim's Camp today for the work weekend (long time blog followers know I went last year) so I am cat and dragon sitting while they're gone. Which means I can help with the home improvement stuff I know how to do all weekend! There is a lot of reno's happening, which also fits this song haha. It's at least keeping me motivated. I'm sure most of you know this song, but if not give it a listen because Alabama is great.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 14
Hey. So I have something a little different today. Here's a Summer Mashup by Lotus Cocktail.
Finally there is a day that feels like summer in Calgary. I can't believe it snowed last week and we still might get more! Ugh. At least today I can wear shorts, sunglasses and have my sunroof open. In honor of what might be my only day of summer, here is a mashup from last year of some songs. It's the perfect thing to listen to today and the DJ that put it together did a fantastic job. It all flows beautifully and I don't even mind the little bit of Justin Bieber in it. So all of the songs used are: Krewella - Alive, Avicii - I could be the one, Ludacris - Rest of my life, Will.i.am ft Justin Bieber - thatpower, Avril Lavigne - Here's to never growing up, Pitbull - Don't stop the party, Icona Pop - Love it, One Republic - I lose myself. Just in case there's one that pops out at you that you don't know. Give it a listen and tell me what you think.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 13
Morning! So today's song is Last Chance by Fighting For Ithaca.
Great song, bad idea. I guarantee you that if you take a toy gun and paint it so it looks like a real gun, police will shoot you on sight. You are asking to die. Also, why hold this radio station hostage so you can be on the air. If you notice, the DJ was already playing one of your songs. There was no need for criminal activity! I poke fun because it is ridiculous, and they meant for it to be. One thing that really bothers me is how they stop the song to add in stuff for the video. I really miss the time when a music video had just the song playing, not some elaborate story with scripted roles. I probably am not the only one who feels that way. Let me know in the comments where you stand.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 12
Hey. So today's song is Barefoot $ Free by Jerry Fish.
I don't even know how I came to find this, but it's awesome. Started in Dublin, Jerry Fish is apparently an alter ego for Gerard Whelan who is a musician and record producer. I've never thought about having an alter ego, but I wonder what mine would be... I assume an alter ego is meant to be the opposite of you, or the part of you that is hidden from the world. In which case my alter ego would probably be a very pissed off bad ass woman. Now all I need is a name. Back to Jerry Fish. You should get to know them so here is the website, Twitter and Facebook. Listen to this song and enjoy the weird awesomeness that it is, and if you have an idea about what my alter ego name could be, drop it in the comments!
Peace.

Year 3, Day 11
Hi. So today's song is Tonight We Feel Alive by Four Year Strong.
Anna would love these guys because of the beards. So this is a pop punk band, but their screaming is kind of metal. The song is not metal. I will make that clear before you guys expect it to be then get upset because it isn't. I love this song mostly because of the lyrics. " Since we discovered we had a say, found that the world's not as cold and gray as our circumstances." Wow! Honestly, does that not sound incredible? Check out the song, and tell me what you think.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 10
Hello. So today I give you Let's Fall In Love by Mother Mother.
Another thing that I forgot to tell you guys about is that my uncle got married. It was probably the most beautiful wedding I've ever been to, because it was really small, secluded and all about them. She brought her parents and siblings and her brought all of us to a little lodge in Canmore to stay for the weekend. We had never met her family before, so throwing us all together could have gone horribly, but it didn't. We all laughed and played games, shared stories and enjoyed the wedding on the winter equinox. This is a picture of the whole family. If you have a family about as big as this (because that's about how much room there is) then you should consider booking the Bear and Bison Inn in Canmore. It's amazing.
So back to the music now. I love Mother Mother. Sydney was the one who showed them to me, but they feel more my style than hers, especially this song. Not that that really matters, but whatever. It just sounds so cool. My friends are constantly showing my music that they think I wouldn't like. Usually they're wrong haha. That just shows how much my music tastes have changed during this blog, and how much of a good thing that is. So check this song out, maybe you'll find you like it.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 9
What Up! Today's song is Bonfire by Slow Kids At Play.
So some of you may not know, but I love Teen Wolf. Love. It. With a passion. It's all Anna's fault really, because she made me watch it until I was addicted. She's a pusher. My favorite actor in it is Dylan O'brien who is the drummer in this band. That's why I found this band in the first place, but honestly I like the band for more than just that. It's really great music. So you should really give them a listen because I've been playing this song a lot over the last few months and I'm still not tired of it.
Peace.

Year 3 Day 8
Hey guys. So today's song is Miss Movin' On by Fifth Harmony.
X-Factor gives us another group that would never have been if not for the judges. I am pretty glad that they recognize individuals that work together to create great groups. I don't know if I really count these guys as one of those groups yet, but I do like this song. At least, most of it. I could do without the squeaks in some of the words, but that's just me. So check these guys out.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 7
Morning! Today's song is We Could Have Had It All by The Hush.
So this is another band from Twitter, who is actually the only one not from Canada. These guys are from the UK, Nottingham in particular, and I never would have known who they were if they hadn't found me. That's one good thing about social media, how we can expand our reach and discovery things we wouldn't have. I can't even explain how much I love this song. When I'm having a bad day this is on the playlist to cheer me up, it's just so uplifting. So as promised, here is the band's Facebook and Twitter, but their website wont open for me. It might just be my computer, but this should be enough for you guys. Enjoy!
Peace.
