Year 3, Day 220

Hey. So today's song is Dropkick Queen Of The Weekend by The Dudes.

The Dudes!! These guys are from my hometown and I love them, they are great. Listen to this and you are seeing a miniscule sliver of what the underground music scene here is like....well what it was like when they were still an underground band that played in the city's dive bars. The songs they make are just so happy and fun. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. So I have a dilemma of sorts. I've used my family ties to get my resume in at job positions in two different ways. One job is in my field, another pays really well. I haven't been offered either at this point, but I kind of want them both (at least for while) to pay off all my shit as fast as possible. I've never had two jobs before, but I know a lot who do and I have no idea how they manage. Should I try for it anyway and probably burn myself out in the process or just take one and wait out my money issues....I can't decide. This of course is assuming they even want me. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it plays out. Ugh. Job hunting is too much like dating. Both sides need to feel it and it takes a lot of effort on your part to make the other one happy... There's a reason I'm single. I'm going to keep thinking on this, in the meantime enjoy the song.

Hello. Today I give you Freckled Mary by State Radio.

So I am dumb. I have been dumb my entire life. You would think that growing up in the same city where winter is always a shitstorm would mean that I could grasp the concept of bundling up, but no. No I have fucked myself over for eternity because I'm a little shit who hardly ever wore and coat and NEVER wore gloves. It's to the point where last night when I was cleaning off my car to drive home (in -37 with the windchill) I couldn't even do that because my hands were beyond frozen. Frostbite is real people. This has been a public service announcement from my idiotic self. As you can tell I'm a little mad at myself right now. I'm just staying inside today and not even dealing with all the people who forget every year how to drive in the winter. The accidents will be countless.... okay rant over: to the song! When I woke up today this song was the first thing that popped into my head. Quite a feat considering it's a song I've only listened to a couple times. I figured my brain was trying to tell me something so here you go!

Hi. So today's song is Maxwell's Silver Hammer by The Beatles.

I get a lot of flack because I don't worship these guys like every other person I know. Sorry not sorry that I prefer the Beach Boys. One of the arguments is always about how many great, iconic songs the Beatles have produced, but so has the other group. I do enjoy some songs, don't get me wrong, but eventually I get tired of those classics. Everyone is so quick to name off songs like Hey Jude and Let It Be, but I have never had someone tell me about this song. I didn't know it existed which is why I was so shocked when I found it. This just might be the strangest song I've heard by them. We all know they were a little with with the whole I am the eggman shtick, but a song about killing people with a hammer?? I wonder what the story behind that was... Anyway I knew I wanted to show this one to you because if I didn't know it was around, maybe you didn't either.

Hey. So today's song is Wonderful Everyday by Chance The Rapper ft. The Social Experiment.

An element of my friendships seems to always be healthy debate. The subject matter varies constantly, and is usually ridiculous, but it makes it interesting and helps to see from a different point of view. The most recent of these little discussions was about soundbites in music. The cause was the song from a few days ago that I mentioned Jay Z used in a song of his. Basically my take is that I usually dislike when artists use sound bites because they just slap them in the middle of a rap as the chorus, and the new generation never has any idea that that isn't their creative material, and then they attribute the musical genius to the wrong artist. Anna took on this challenge and said that "a lot of the time it makes reference to a different time period and adds a layer of feeling it might not otherwise have. Lots of rappers do it. Rap is to music what collage is to visual art. It can be shitty, sure, but more importantly the artist is in control of the whole product that he or she creates through carefully arranging things that the viewer understands already, and adding new components in an unexpected way." I would say that it only really applies when someone takes the soundbite and actually dissects it to then rebuild it up differently, not just plopping it into a song. This song is the example Anna gave me that I do agree is the right way to use it. If you're wondering, the soundbite in it is the theme song to Arthur. I didn't even recognize it at first even though I know the theme and that alone tells me that it was used expertly. So check it out and give your input on the topic. Hey. So today's song is Trainwreck by Death From Above 1979.

Canadian radio stations can sometimes confuse your average American, because along with the poppy shit we get from them we feature a lot of Canadian artists. Why not though, right? We are proud of our people (and not all of them suck as much as the ones America makes into icons). Prime example: Death From Above 1979. So these guys are from Toronto and had actually broken up in 2006, but got back together in 2011 to the sheer joy of their fans. You may be curious about the name, I know I was. They used to be just Death From Above, but had to change it because of some big legal battle with a dance music label (can you guess their name?) A quote from one of the guys in the band (Grainger) said they chose the number because "1979 is the year of my birth, 1979 is the year of Off the Wall, 1979 is the year of The Pleasure Principle, 1979 is the last year of the last cool decade, 1979 is scratched into my arm, 1979 is scratched into my arm, 1979 is scratched into my fucking arm." This song is from after their big reunion, and actually came out this year. Some people say it doesn't sound like the old stuff, but why would it after almost a decade. Hi! Today's song is Riverside by Hollerado.

So Anna had this CD and that's why I know the song. As the cover shown in the video can attest, it was a record in a bag, and it was deadly. There were sparkles in it too, so I spent many a times trying to get them off a me so I could go to class without people asking questions. As the passenger, you are the one on music duty to switch out CD's so the driver doesn't kill everyone. I absolutely dreaded it when this was the one I had to open because of those damn sparkles. If the band wasn't good it would have been less of a problem, but since Anna and I both liked listening to Hollerado I was always shimmering slightly. You don't have to deal with that, but just imagine what it would be like. Despite hating dealing with the sparkles, it set the tone for the CD and it was perfect. I seriously suggest listening to more stuff from Hollerado because they are truly awesome. Do it. I demand that you must.

 Hi. So today's song is Young Forever by Alphaville.

I have a list of songs saved to show you guys, and every time I scrolled through it I would forget what this song was. I always thought it was a glitch or something because why would I want this on here? (It was the Jay Z version at first). So I'd play it. I was always super confused during the first minute since there is no noise and I'd be about to remove it from the list when the singing starts. Forever Young is ingrained into my skull from the amount of times I've heard it. It can definitely be classified as an iconic eighties song. My parents listened to older song when I was a kid, and  my grandma would play her oldies CD's while we baked cookies, so I became pretty familiar with older hits. Plus my obsession with eighties movies didn't help. I decided to switch from the song Jay Z did using this sound bite, and go for the original classic, because I didn't care for Jay Z's version at all. All hail the eighties and their weird sense in fashion, but great choice in music.

Hello! Today's song is Gangsta by Kat Dahlia.

I might as well get the rapping stuff out of the way while I'm on it. I don't know what to really say about this song. It's pretty smooth at times, and I can get into it, but she still confuses me. I don't understand people who have great singing voices doing rapping instead. I know it's probably a genre they like, but you can here that she has the ability to do more. I might just be a music snob since being in choir, but it bugs me. The song lyric are really sad if you listen closely to them. It's even worse because of how accurate it is, as far as single parents sacrificing everything for their kids. I had two parents and we were still kind of fucked. I couldn't imagine if they had to do it themselves...I have a lot of respect for people who do it alone. If you guys listen to this song make sure you focus on the lyrics, because it does tell a story.

Hey Guys. Today I give you Just Lose It by Eminem.

Okay, so you guys know how I was watching that show Woldblood? Yes the show for tiny British children, I have no shame. Well there was this post of the guys from the show all hanging out in a car singing this song. I had no idea what it was at first because it was such a weird lyric interval that they caught on film, but apparently it was this Eminem song. So I thought why not share it with you guys since their isn't an abundance of his stuff on here. I do like his stuff, but I find that I get tired of eat easily which is a little sad because he's got some great tunes. It might be because when Sammy and I were younger she went through a rapper phase, so we basically listened to his CD on repeat for weeks...but that was a long time ago so here is some Eminem for you!

Hey. So today's song is Your Call by Secondhand Serenade.

This is another song off of that list I found. I've had it on my ipod for a long time and it's one of my go to sad songs, which is not surprising at all. It's one that I always listened to when I was trying not to listen to my parents fight. It was during one of the darkest times in my life, when I was not too far away from self harm. When I felt absolutely overwhelmed, instead of reaching for a blade, I went for my ipod and that helped keep me sane. The number of times I sat in the dark, bawling my eyes out with earbuds in is ridiculous, but it got better. It always gets better, and though I'm in kind of a shitty place right now, I always have hope. Because I know I've been through worse, and I am strong enough to get through this. So this is a message to anyone who might need it: remember that everything passes eventually, you just need to hang on long enough for that to happen. And if you need some extra love and encouragement, go on The Dawn Room. I promise it will help.

Morning. So today's song is Invincible by Hedley.

I've made the mistake of reading YouTube comments on videos comparing American and Canadian cultures. It makes me so aggravated because everyone is fighting back and forth about who's better. "Canada would be screwed without the protection of us." "Canada is better liked so we don't need such a big army anyway." ....Like fuck off. Both sides need to stop. American history is very different from Canadian history, in that we learn the events from all sides in school. Our social classes refer to globalization and are based on the history of all countries. Americans learn more solely about America's role in world events.  So they don't learn that Canadians are far from helpless. And Canadians get angry at the bred in ignorance of Americans. It's a vicious circle...I just wish that the bias could be thrown out and people could be a little more civilized. In a time when all different countries are at each other's throats I wish civilians like me could just get along and agree to disagree. Life would be so much easier. Dorry for the rant, it just bugs me. Anyway here is some more Hedley, since I never get tired of them obviously since they might be the most featured band.

Hello! So today's song is Get It Faster by Jimmy Eat World.

If you want to skip the weirdly long intro, the actual song starts about a minute in. Jimmy Eat World is one of those groups that my friends don't believe I listen to, which is weird to think about because they're awesome. Sure the song may only be four chords, but most songs are anyway. It's an older one, this takes me back during my angry phase. When I didn't want to talk to anyone I'd just find a random corner in the school to sit and listen to my ipod. If my friends didn't find me: awesome. If they did then I would either get increasingly done with people, or they'd manage to shake me from my slum. Either one was fine by me. Anyway this songs is great, and honestly this whole album was wicked so check out the other ones if you're willing.

So I finally got Word back on my computer along with some other programs and found a document with a list of songs. I can only assume that some version of my earlier self had been compiling a list of what hadn't been put in here so that I could rectify that. I have another document on my computer which is a list in order of every single song I've featured on here (it took a long time to do) so I went through and checked every song on the short list. Most of them weren't there, so a lot are being featured this week. Included is the song from yesterday and today, and probably tomorrow. So while these songs will in no way be new to you, they are good so I hope it brings back happy memories of your past. Enjoy.

Year 3, Day 207

Hi. Today's song is Ocean Avenue by Yellowcard.

It is unfathomable to me that this song isn't on here yet in any year. I became absolutely obsessed with this song in high school and I basically listened to it on a loop. There was a time when I could only stand three songs, and this was one of them. Man, this brings me back to logistics classes that I was forced to take. I had really long hair that hung in my face, so I used to put my earbuds around my ear and then in, so they wouldn't fall out, and then hide it in my hair. It's a trick that I used at work once too, but is probably not something that should be done. If you're wondering about me being 'forced' to take that class, it's because I had too many spares. In my school depending on the grade you could have a spare period where there were no classes, and usually it all worked out fine. Tenth grade had no spares, eleventh got a half spare (quarter of a year long) and the twelves got a full spare. Since I was in choir and leadership though, my schedule got super messed up since my gym and CALM classes were part of the curriculum in choir and CALM in leadership too. So I had already taken CALM in leadership and gym in choir in tenth grade with all the older kids. So when I got around to grade eleven I had two unofficial spares in those classes and got the whole afternoon every second day off. That was fine with my counselor since I was a good kid and I still was technically in class. The problem came when they found out I had also taken social before and therefore has a full spare in my schedule. That was not okay. So at the last minute I got shoved into the only two classes left that didn't need prerequisites, and I found myself in logistic and marketing. I find that last one kind of funny now since I'm a marketing major now. They were ridiculously easy tenth grade classes that required no brainpower from me, hence the trick with the headphones. So that's the story of me and this song that you probably didn't need, but what the hell.

Hey. So today's song is Roundtable Rival by Lindsey Stirling.

Okay I realized a little late that I was one short for my covers week, so instead we're going to end with someone who started out doing covers with her violin of popular music. Obviously most people know Lindsey now, and I've shown her stuff multiple times, but she wasn't always so well known. When she was a kid her parents couldn't afford music lessons for her, so they found a teacher that would do half lessons. Considering she has 15 minute lessons to learn to play the violin, she is insanely talented. Her fame really started when she was on America's Got Talent, but it's after the show that she really bloomed into the artist we see today. She releases albums with her own compositions, has collaborated with some famous names and is a part of every aspect of her world tours. She is basically the person everyone should strive to be. This song is her latest release, a sort of EDM meets country and rock. I've never seen a steampunk western concept before this and she naturally pulls it off. So you should check it out.

Hey. So today's song is Whistle covered by Nolan Funk and the Warblers.

Alright, this one requires an explanation. Remember when I kept talking about how much I loved Pitch Perfect and how accurate everything in the movie was? Well their use of of the word toner is the truest. A "toner" is basically a musical boner, and it is the only way to describe how I feel about this one. I seriously love Nolan Funk. He is gorgeous, so fucking talented and from Vancouver which... I can forgive. He's the lead singer in this song from Glee, so obviously it's my favorite, but it's not just that. Something happens every time the beat starts and you hear the other guys doing the ching chinka ding with it. I actually get shivers and goosebumps, I don't know why, but clearly my body agrees with my brain that it's ear porn. Then the video!! When you add Nolan's "I know I'm so hot" facial expressions and "come hither" dance moves... I melt. I cease to exist. And yes the flip was 100% Nolan because he used to be a nationally ranked gymnast. You can't really get the full affect from this clip on YouTube because I couldn't find one that doesn't cut part of the screen off, but if you want to you can try to open in it Glee. It was in season four in episode eight I think, the one called thanksgiving. I've watched this clip at least thirty times today, so I though it classified to be on here.

Year 3, Day 204

Hi. So today's song is Talk Dirty by Pulse.

This is a shorter video, it's not the whole song, but damn is the part that they did do amazing. I highly recommend headphones for this one so you get the full effect of each part. Pulse is also a five piece a cappella group, but they differ from Pentatonix in the way that Pulse is made up entirely of beatboxers. Like Pentatonix though, they also seem to like a challenge, because doing this song which has so many moving parts, and doing it with so few people is ridiculously hard. And yet, they pull it off without breaking a sweat. I particularly enjoy that you can tell exactly which person is doing what part just by looking at them. Having so many beatboxers put together is another thing that used to be unheard of in the vocal community, because they were needed to back up the other parts, but now people are splitting off more into their sections. This is basically the vocal version of a drum line and I can't help but smile at the concept.

 Hey guys. So today I give you Rather Be by Pentatonix.

Talking about covers of songs this week, I knew at some point I would need to bring in Pentatonix. If I want to show how to push the envelope of what people expect, these guys are a prime example. Non-choral people I talk to always get that nose scrunch of distaste when I mention a cappella music and it's really because they don't give it a chance. They assume a cappella hasn't changed in a hundred years, but just look at what this group of only five people can do with a song...and one not typically thought of for an all voice composition. There are so many songs that Pentatonix has done that I could have shown you, some strange and some iconic, but this is a newer piece they worked on so I thought this would be good to start with. Plus I really enjoy when Kirstie is the soloist rather than Scott, only because her range is basically identical to mine. It's a sound that I'm used to and the notes feel right. Pentatonix is one of the groups redefining the genre for a new generation and expanding the repertoire of choral pieces so I sincerely suggest you listen to more things if you jam even a little bit to this.

Hey. Today's song is Wayfaring Stranger by Douglas Bako.

Okay this is one that has been making the rounds on Facebook for months. My sister sent it to me almost a year ago now, but it still awesome. Douglas uses the Looper that is so popular on phones now, and he does it beautifully. The simplicity of Looper is really helping people to expand on their mini performances by being able to accompany yourselves, but you still need to know what you're doing. The program doesn't give talent, just amplifies it, and if there is one thing this dude has: it's talent. I'm hoping Ed Sheeran sees this version of his song at some point because he is so aware of all the moving parts in his music and I think he'd really enjoy this one. You should too since you can see how it builds with each added loop. Plus is voice is just so silky smooth that you can't help but swoon a little. Hope you like it!

Morning! So today's song is Girls Just Want To Have Fun by Chase Holfedler.

Today's is another example of someone taking a song and flipping it on it's side to make an entirely new jam. This song is one I know super well. I went through a pretty big Cyndi Lauper face when I was in junior high, but I still did a double take when I heard this version. Taking a song that is the definition of poppy and putting it all into a minor key...just wow. For those of you who aren't musically literate, the original was in major chords which sound strong and cheerfully bright. Chase made this song using minor chords which are usually heard in sad songs because it's a darker sound. The funny thing is there is only really one note that makes the change between a major to minor. The difference comes from the 3rd being either a major or minor note, and that changes the sound of the whole chord. It's weird I know. This change is something Chase does a lot, it's his thing, so you can check out more if you really like it. Also note that he is accompanying himself on piano and guitar and is also harmonizing with himself twice over, not to mention the tambourine. A lot of effort went into making this and he deserves recognition for it. Check it out.

Hello! So today's song is How Do You Like Your Eggs In The Morning? covered by Tom and Gi.

In my sleep deprived state, I forgot to mention something that happened yesterday. When I was getting everything ready to head to my basement room at my uncle's house, I was sketching myself out. It happens easily wherever I am when I'm all alone. I had my ipod playing to try and calm myself down, and right as I looked out the still open blinds the song changed. My ipod started playing Somebody's Watching Me by Rockwell. It was equal parts the best and worst song that could have played at the time. Anyway, we hit 200!! Whoooo! I've done so twice before, but this year I've been pretty bad at keeping up with the daily songs. Since it's the 200th day, and the start of a new week, I'm going to do something I've been saving stuff up for. I am having a week of covers...kind of. It's basically a showcase of really talented people who are doing what they love. So the original song I had has been made private which sucks because it was great, but that just means it gets to be replaced with something equally as great. Tom and Gi are married. He's in the band McFly, she's a writer and I have shown them to you before, but what's one more song right? Enjoy!

 Hi. Today's song is Selfless by New Found Glory.

Have you ever been so tired that you don't see colors right? That's where I'm at right now. Everything is tinted a sickly green for me because I have gotten even less sleep than usual and am so fucking tired right now. The problem is I can't sleep. I have honestly never been so uncomfortable in a spot in my life. Trying to sleep in my uncle's house is never going to happen until I have my own blanket and pillow. For some reason when they designed this room, my uncle's wife bought pillows that are simultaneously both the hardest and softest pillows ever. Two are so hard that I feel like my neck is twisting to the point of breaking and two are so soft that they aren't doing the job of a pillow and are instead suffocating me to death when I attempt to lay on them. The room looks so pretty and comfy in theory. It's like some sick form of psychological torture...I know I probably sound like a priss right now, but I haven't slept a wink in four days and this is bugging me to the point of a crying binge which never ever happens. Now I just have to wait six hours before my family is due to check on me and I can have them fix my issue by bringing me my own stuff. The problem is getting to that point. I don't know if I'll last that long before passing out and once I hit that time I know I'll be asleep for the rest of the day, so here's a song for you right now.

Hey. Today's song is Aint Nothin' Wrong With That by Robert Randolph & the Family Band.

I'm in such a good mood today and this song it matching my happiness. It;s undoubtedly one that everyone has heard in something (because it is used in everything) but that no one knew the name of. I myself can't remember where exactly it was that I heard it, but I have it saved on my list and that's good enough for me. It's such a party track which seems weird since I'm just sitting around by myself in a house, but I am in an empty house, so why not blast it and have a mini solo dance party!? ...This is exactly why I could never live with a roommate. I could not justify me belting show tunes and jammin to music at all hours of the day. Only someone as equally obsessed with music could get it. I need some more fun music for my dance party so if you guys have anything in mind let me know! Otherwise have fun and embrace the happy.

Hiya. Today I give you Crush On You by Brakes.

Right now I find myself in a different location than normal because I'm house sitting for my uncle. He's taking his wife and baby for a family holiday with her family, so that mean I get free reign of their house for a week. I'm the best one to ask in my family because of a couple of reasons. First, I don't have a place of my own so obviously I would be down for a people free area for awhile. Second, I have virtually no life of my own which means I can drop everything I'm doing (which is literally nothing) to help them out. Basically the only reason I have to be there is if it snows. Someone has to shovel the sidewalk. I'm not complaining though. I love spending time by myself and for once I can sing as loudly as I want without worrying about bothering the neighbors or other people in the condo. That to me is peaceful and helps me be anxiety free. It's what I miss most about being in a house instead of apartment buildings. This should be a fun week! In honor of my new surroundings, here is a new band I found that I've never featured before. They're good and I hope you'll like them.

Hey. So today's song is Pure Pleasure Seeker by Moloko.

Sorry I've been a little awol lately. I've gotten kind of addicted to a new video game Sammy got. See, I don't classify myself as a gamer, but according to my sister I am. I pick up controls fast, and today alone I've clocked five hours playing this...so far. She got the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess game for wii. She seems to have more fun watching someone play video games than actually doing it herself because she gets super frustrated, so I've been honing my skills at smashing pots and bringing back the light. I don't really have anything interesting to say to you other than to not pay attention to the time clocked on video games who count that shit. It makes you very depressed and you realize how little you're doing with your life. So do what I do and ignore it. Since I'm still in video game mode this song is pretty repetitive and doesn't have a voice for awhile in the beginning. I thought it seemed appropriate. See you later!

Hello. So today's song is Fever's Burning Up by ALyX.

I'm feeling pretty good today for a change. I think it's probably more because I'm listening to some awesome ukelele mini songs and it's kind of impossible to make a sad song with a ukelele. So the question really is why exactly I'm listening to mini songs right now. Well it all started with Tom Fletcher (I'm a McFly fan as you probably know) months ago... probably more like a year, but whatever. So Tom did it when he was bored in his hotel room, and it was incredible. Then things got even better when Carrie decided she liked the idea and did it too. What makes it so special is that the Fletcher family is crazy fucking talented and basically turn everything musical into gold. Case in point: Tom, Carrie and Gi (not born into the family but still a Fletcher) in every video they've ever made. I bring this up because today other Youtubers and friends of Carrie's did it (I found it today) and it's interesting. Pete and Gary went with a Disney theme and while it is strange, I do enjoy it, BUT I disagree. I care about Aurora!! Actually though, she was my favorite princess which people give me flack for since all she does is sleep the whole time. When that happens I simply direct their attention to Snow White. Anyway I feel like you guys should see these too, so here is Tom's, Carrie's, and Pete and Gary's 5 minute song. Enjoy!

Hi. So today's song is Birds Of A Feather by The Rosenbergs.

I got a call from Sammy earlier this morning and she was freaking out about the cat. She said he was hiding and not eating so we needed to get him to the vet. So since I am such a good sister I went over there right away. The cat was hiding (for five minutes) before jumping on the bed with me getting all comfortable. Then I managed to feed him a few kibbles before we went to the appointment Sammy had at the vet. The thing I should mention is that the girls at the clinic love Splash. He is the weirdest cat they see because he's so expressive and his meows are ridiculously low and abrasive. The vet checked him all out from teeth to bladder to the thermometer up the butt. He was perfectly fine and not even a little sick (besides being giant and overweight although not as bad as he used to be). When we got him home he was eating fine and playing, hanging out in the living room. I think the cat was just pissed that he wasn't getting enough attention so he faked it. So I spent my morning at the animal clinic because my sister doesn't pet her cat enough.... Super fun day. Well I'm going to get back to doing my own thing, enjoy the music.

 Monday,  back to the normal routine, which for me means searching job sites while watching Dark Angel. I'm kind of in love with this show now, I think it's amazing considering when it was made. A little like Firefly, but not as good. I do wish it would have been a little longer so the story could have been completely figured out (I mean no one ever found Father or really why Max is the way she is) but I am happy to see the actors go on to bigger and better things. I mean Jensen has been on Supernatural for ten years, Michael Weatherly on NCIS for twelve, and Jessica Alba has been in movie after movie since the end. I am not a fan of her, but I do love the boys and have seen every episode of both their shows so it's adorable to see them so little. I will undoubtedly need a new TV show to watch after this so if you guys have any ideas let me know! Otherwise enjoy some Great Big World since all of the stuff they do is amazing.

Year 3, Day 192

Hi! Today's song is Say Hey (I Love You) by Michael Franti & Spearhead.

Ugh man I'm so tired. I took Will around for his scavenger hunt yesterday and he had so much fun. I did get some flack about how easy the clues were, but whatever. He was super confused  at breakfast when he got the first clue, but then he got really into it. We stopped over to see Liz and get a card from her, then went to Tyler's house where I sat there awkwardly while Will, Tyler, and Adrian watched Family Guy. After that we went to find Steve and Will got to play video games with him and Serene until we went to lunch with Hunter. On the way to lunch Will almost killed us because cars, snow and yellow lights aren't a good combination, but I'm still alive so it was fine. Then he went to a movie with Greg (Lauren was a no show) and then we had a huge party with everyone. Sammy made a bunch of food that nobody ate and Will picked up Lauren so she could join. We all played video games, the boys talked cars and I made a complete fool of myself by getting a charlie-horse while attempting to stand, ending with me falling on my ass while Greg cackled. Good fun for everyone. There was cake and some heckling as Will tried to find his present, which was a trip to Mexico. All in all I think everything went well. I really hit it off with Serene because we seem to have the same humor, so her and Steve were showing Sammy and me some cool stuff while Will played with Tyler's new car. This video is one of the things Steve showed us and I have to say it's better than the original. I don't know why, but the tongue part always makes me laugh. Anyway I wanted to give you guys the lowdown on what happened, so that's basically it. Now if only I knew enough people to do something like this for my birthday...Oh well. Hello! So today's song is Sell Out by Reel Big Fish.

This is just a really quick post because I probably wont be back here for the rest of the day. Like I mentioned before, today is the day that Will get his big surprise for his birthday. I'm just getting ready for breakfast right now so we'll see how it all goes. Wish us luck!! Also enjoy the song because it makes me super happy and puts me in the right mood for the day. Year 3, Day 190

Happy Halloween!! Today's song is I Put A Spell On You by Screamin' Jay Hawkins.

The song choice is because of my all-time favorite Halloween movie ever: Hocus Pocus. I have a weird love for Thackery Binx and watching it never gets old. This song is performed by the witches in the movie, so it seemed like a good choice for today. I've been hanging with Will and Sammy for our fright night of sorts and it's been pretty good. We had all the candy Will could eat (because Sammy and I had stuffed ourselves so full of actual food that candy looked disgusting to us) and he definitely ate half of it. We watched some American Horror Story before Sammy declared she didn't like it, so we let Will play his creepy video game and then we watched Supernatural to end off the night. At least ending with Supernatural meant I was all sketched out walking to my car in the pitch black, which happens to me anyway, but scary things make it worse. Anyway, I hope you guys had an awesome night, whatever you chose to do.
