Hey guys. So I officially have a job!! WOOT! I've been searching forever. Anyways, today's song is Chemicals React by Aly and AJ.
So this is a sister act, which is actually really cool that they're musical together. My sister and I are both musical, but in very different ways. I really had no idea who the little sister was until they did a movie together because the one with the curly hair, Aly, has done lots of TV shows and movies and such before. I've heard a lot of the songs by them, and the type of music they write really fits in to the moods I get frequently. Definitely good to listen to while chillin' at home like I am. Well, that's all for today.
Peace.
P.S. I've seen that some of you who read this are from Denmark and I just want to say how wicked cool I think that is. I'm Canadian if you didn't know and I've only met one guy from Denmark. He seemed nice though so I have high hopes that you are as equally awesome. Just thought I'd share!

Day 38
Hi. So today's song is one from when I was younger. It's Finally Out Of P.E. by Brie Larson.
This song describes exactly how I felt about gym my entire life. I hated gym. So this was kind of my theme song when it came to that time. So this girl was in the movie Sleepover, which I didn't know before because she looks completely different in it than in her videos. Funny how she can be majorly preppy, yet she's the rocker chick on the outside. And she can actually sing!!! I'm so happy about that, you have no idea.
Peace.

Day 37
I'm sorry this is late, I was at my sister's till two in the morning yesterday. Anyways, today's song is Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy which is from the play/ballet The Nutcracker.
So when I went to the mall today with Anna and Sammy, we saw the human statues. If you have no idea what that means, every year Chinook has these people dressed up in costumes and they stand there on pedestals. They move every once in awhile, but mostly they are perfectly still. If it was me I would fall over... Anyways they had some dressed as the sugar plum fairy and anytime we saw one we all started to sing this song. It was weird, and epic at the same time. So, this holiday season when you think of the sugar plum fairy, you can sing this and be epic with us too!
Peace.
P.S. I now want to learn how to play the glass armonica. It's amazing.

Day 36
Yo. So today's song played on the radio when I was in my friends car. It is Like A G6 by Far East Movement ft. The Cataracs, DEV.
Now, I don't even like rap music and I had no idea that this song was about a plane until the radio said it today. I know it sounds really bad but since it was a rap song I assumed they were talking about a gun or some new nickname for a drug. I'm not stupid, I swear! Everyone has those moments though, am I right? Anyway, I have not been able to get this song out of my head all day, it's insane. I was even walking to the beat of the music in the mall. That's all for now.
Peace.
P.S. People in the mall need to calm the fuck down! Yes, it's getting near Christmas, but that doesn't mean you need to freak out if I accidentally cut you off because I didn't see you. If I say sorry, then you should stop being a douche. Just sayin'.

Day 35
Hi! So, I don't know why, but today I was munching on the cookies my grandma baked (aren't cookies just so much better right out of the oven) and a song from Anastasia popped into my head. Therefore, today's song is Journey To The Past by Aaliyah.
This has always been my favorite song from the show. I tend to have the not as well known songs as my favorites. So I find it strange that this was in my head, seeing as I haven't watched this movie since junior high when we studied the actual Romanov family. Part of our class work was spend listening to the song about Rasputin. You know, "Ra Ra Rasputin lover of the Russian queen..." We had a slacker social class, as you can probably tell. Oh well, that's it for the day. Now I think I'll go watch this movie.
Peace.

Day 34
Howdy! So, today's song is one awesome little diddy. It's called The Lady Is A Tramp by Frank Sinatra.
So, I love Sinatra. He was a genius, but I actually like the cover that a friend of mine did more. It's on my YouTube account which is here just in case you didn't know. It's a little faster and has a different rhythm, plus it's a girl singing it, but it's my favorite.
BUT it should in no wear compare to Sinatra. It is simply to show how great he is, for he wrote the song and shared his brilliance with us. Therefore, thank you Frank Sinatra, for being you. We love it.
Peace.

Day 33
Hello again! So today's song is a true classic. It's American Pie by Don McLean.
So I don't even know why, but this is the song I ended up singing today when I was bored. It's a good thing though, I had almost forgotten about this song. I guess that's what all the new music does to you. I wish we could go back to music like this: the lyrics are great, the music is great, it's actually his voice! and it's just perfect to sing to. If you've never heard any of Don McLean's stuff (which would be very depressing) go check it out. He is pure genius.
Peace.

Day 32
Hi!! I know I'm a few hours late, yesterday was weird. Anyways, this is dedicated to my two best friends...annoying as they are....ha ha. Today is Friends by Flight Of The Conchords.
This song is insanely funny. I song along every time they sing la la la LA. Weird as these guys are, which makes them part of my weird zone, I actually don't know much of their stuff. See, I sent a friend song to Anna and Taylor, and Anna's response was to send me this. I like it a lot, and yes I would avenge a friends death if they were murdered. Although we've never popped and locked together....We will have to do it. So if you're interested in them check out some more stuff, I hear it's great!
Peace.

Day 31
Hey everyone! So today's song is You And Me by The Plain White T's. They have so many sick songs so check out more.
So I don't even know how many times I've listened to this song, but the lyrics are just so brilliant that they've been stuck in my head for a long time. I didn't know who sang it, or the rest of the words, but the very beginning has been going over and over in my brain. Considering I should have my choir music doing that, this is a bad thing. So hopefully sharing it here will free my brain so it can succumb to the awesomeness and complete insanity that is Christmas music.
Peace.

Day 30
WE CRACKED 30!!! Sorry, I'm just excited that I actually managed to do this everyday. Alright today's song is Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars.
So this dude came out of nowhere with this song, and made all the girls melt. I guess he's the only one brilliant enough to sing that girls are great the way they are...Anyway, he has taken the world by storm and his music video is trending on going viral. It has a good concept too, that video of his. They made it the same way the song is: simple, elegant, beautiful. But if a dude has broken one of my tapes like that i would have flipped shit, not just smiled at him. I guess it doesn't matter anymore though since no one listens to tapes now anyways. Whatever.
He's going to have a hard time topping this song, as far as the female population is concerned. Oh well, we'll see how he does.
Peace.

Day 29
Hey everybody. I started watching a new TV series today and there was a song in it that I liked. So today's song is Sour Cherry by The Kills.
This song scares the crap out of me every time it comes on my ipod. It's so much louder than all the other ones so I visibly jump. Well, most people don't like this song. It's another one of those acquired taste things, but I love it and when I get my own car will blast it all the time.
Peace.

Day 28
Hey, so I watched Easy A again today. You know, I wish so much that I could have my own musical number for no apparent reason, so I'm showing you the one from the movie. Today's song is Emma Stone singing Knock On Wood.
Now way back when, I had talked about how people should either act or sing. Emma Stone has always been just the actor, and she is a really good one, but I had no idea what kind of pipes she had on her! Like, Damn. That girl can sing.
Anyway, Easy A is a hilarious film and I recommend that everyone goes to watch it. It just keeps you laughing the whole way through.
Peace.

Day 27
Hello! So here's an oldie for you. It's called by I Will Survive Gloria Gaynor. She's singing live here, she's so great.
This song I actually used in a project in grade nine. My english teacher told us to rewrite a song that would help us learn in one of our classes. So my friend and I wrote this song about extinction to help with science. Unfortunately I can't remember any of the words to our version, which isn't unheard of since it was more than three years ago, but it still makes me sad.
This song is perfect for a girl's power jam and sits in the same category as Aretha Franklin. The women with soul who make us white girls pretend we have the pipes and attitude of these awesome women. For this, I salute you mothers of soul.
Peace.

Day 26
So...it's early. I've been trying to upload those videos from the jazz night to YouTube (I had forgotten about them forever) and that's kind of taking some time. So I've been watching videos and one of them played the song A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton. So that is today's song.
So this song isn't very new, and it isn't very old, but it's still an awesome tune. And I'm pretty sure everyone in the country knows it. I guarantee that if you play the little opening piano piece people will either start singing or be like "that is so familiar!" It's such a simple song too, by it just being her and her piano to make the parts that stand out the most. Plus the fact that it is her playing and not someone else makes it all the better. I can't really rag on musicians who can't play though because I cannot play anything, but I do sing and write...kind of. Anyway, I just think people who play themselves are a level or two ahead of the others.
Peace.
P.S. I think I've decided that, not only am I going to choose a song of the day, but that I'm going to make a video of me covering the song to attach to the blog. So if you think it's a good plan, let me know. Feedback is appreciated.

Day 25
I hate my life today. Why you may ask? Because all last night and all day today it has been snowing in Calgary! Of course this is Canada so snow is to be expected but I just hate snow so much. The bright side is I'm not allowed to start singing Christmas music without being pelted by Halloween candy. So today I give you Winter Wonderland using a rock twist in Selena Gomez's cover.
I don't care if you like her or not, this brings together the two best things: Christmas carols, and rock music. Awesome. So I have a few challenges for you today. 1) find out who originally sang this song, it might be difficult. 2) tell me what your favorite Christmas carol is, I don't care if it's a Hanukkah song, or a different religion, just tell me what you love to sing at this time of year. and 3) for those of you who are pro enough, make a recording of you singing your favorite Christmas song. Put it on YouTube, send it to me, doesn't matter...let's see who's brave enough to do it.
Peace.

Day 24
So I was challenged by my friend Anna to find a 70's rock band that I liked. Well to be honest, it wasn't that hard, all I had to do was look on my ipod to find the great ZZ Top. So today's song is Francine by ZZ Top.
So I know the video has a live performance of the song in 1980, which isn't the 70's. This song is from their second album so it came out well before the 80's, I just couldn't find an earlier recording. So there you go, Anna. ZZ Top can rock hard, actually play instruments and put on a really entertaining show...plus the beards are just too epic for words.

Hello, so I haven't been listening to music all day. So today's song is the only song I've heard which is Love by Matt White.

Day 22
So I'm a fan of the show Hellcats and they featured a song that I really liked. Today's song is Stutterin by Fefe Dobson.
Now it may just be because I'm a Canadian myself, but when I find Canadian singers that made it big I just feel like dancing. This may seem random, but she is a Canadian singer, so it's not just a thought that popped out.
Now in her videos she kind of scares me. She seems to dance, if that's what it's called, on the roofs of cars all the time. And all I wanna say is poor guy that she was in his room :P
Peace.

Day 21
Whew! Okay so today I was with my friends driving around in the car for hours and (no offense to anyone) there is only so much Zeppelin that I can take, so I started to listen to my ipod. One particular song I ended up listening to over and over, so it is today's song. It is called Ego by The Saturdays.
So I found these guys on Jango, and love their stuff. I don't even know what to classify their music as, it's like rock, op and techno all mixed in to a giant ball of awesome. So if you haven't heard there stuff, look it up because chances are if you like the stuff I've shown you so far, you'll like them.

Day 20
Hi guys, I know it's a day late, but Thursday was just so crazy and I couldn't get to the Internet, so you get two today. So today (Thursday) is I'm A Believer by Smashmouth.
Yes, this song is from Shrek, that is how most of you will know it. I've listened to so many different versions of this song on my ipod I might be starting to go insane, so I thought I'd share the wealth, ha ha.
By the way, does anyone even know what happened to Smashmouth? They just like disappeared off the planet after Shrek used their song.
Peace.

Day 19
Alrighty, so I'm in a very Disney-ish mood today. This song is probably the best non-classic Disney song out there. It is Dig It by the D-Tent boys from Holes.
So all the people on the cast decided that they should do a song, and this includes Shia Labeouf, who should never take up a career in rapping. He is just way too white for that. And I must say that after listening to all the boys sing their parts, I fell in love with the dude who plays zig zag...well his voice anyway.
There was no actual music video for this song, at least now the full version so here's who sings when: first is zig zag with his epic manly voice, then all the boys sing together the chorus thingy, then Shia with his white boy rap (ha ha), all the boys again, then you have x ray doing his thing, all the boys once again for the chorus, and zero comes with his voice, then back to the boys. Next is armpit which is obvious, then x ray comes in again, followed by zig zag's manly voice and, and the boys again.
Anyway, I've never read the book, but I've watched the movie so much that I could probably tell you everything that happens, in detail. So if you haven't seen it, go rent the movie and watch it because it's pretty great. It was made before Disney began all the stupid crap, but a little warning: this is before Shia got crazy hot in transformers so don't expect to be overcome with sexiness.
Peace.

Day 18
What up! to my non-existent audience. It's a strange things for me, I have not listened to any music all day. And yet, there is still music from my subconscious grooving it out. So the song that's in my head is today's song and that is I'm So Sick by Flyleaf.
So I was introduced to this band in two ways. The first was when I was obsessed with playing rock band, this song I sang a lot more than most people would. The other way was from my friend Trevor. I had just kind of been checking their stuff out, then I made the connection to rock band. So, really I found it before Trevor played them, I just didn't know it.
What I don't get is they're christian rock. What IS that? Really, the whole identifier of rock and roll back in the day was that it was bad, hellish. Sex, drugs and rock n' roll, you know? Whatever. It's good music I'll leave it at that and not think about it, I tend to over think things.
Little side note: the girl kind of scares me...
Peace.

Hello. So today's song is Let Me Know by The Audition. This is a new band I found, but I really like them so there you go.
Sorry about the video, I couldn't fins a music video for this song anywhere. Oh well, we'll make do with what we got. So this is a band from Chicago, and the singer is from Detroit. They've had a lot of people in and out of the band over the years, but it seems to have finally settled down. I can't even imagine how it would sound with a different singer....at least I wont have to since these are the definite members now.

Singing About her.
What's in a name? A LOT!! Well, when it comes to singing about a girl, it matters to me. There's no doubt thousands of songs out there about different people, whether it's the title of the song, or just mentioned in the song in every verse. And although there are so many songs about people out there, I have yet to come across one about a Stephanie or Steph or Stefi. I would accept it being an angsty song, where this Stephanie character is the evil girl who broke their heart...so long as there was a song about her. I know it sound weird, but I just really want a song with my name in it that can sort of act as my anthem in times of trouble or confusion.
I know in a lot of the rants I do and will do, I tend to over exaggerate just a bit too much, but I assure you this time I'm not:
The song Chelsea that summer set did. It's super catchy and the main part (the one that everyone knows by the end) is just a repeat of her name six times. Don't believe me? Go back and listen to the chorus. Half the words in it are 'Chelsea.'
And what about the song Becky by Be Your Own Pet? (to appear later in the 365) Sure the song is about some bitch named Becky, but still it's about her, named after her, and once again her name is part of the chorus...even though it's mostly the guys in the band saying Becky in the background.
Don't even try and blame it on names that are generic. I have never met some one name Rhonda (yes that's right, I'm talking about the Beach Boys) and I have met a lot of people. Yet, the song is called help me Rhonda and they say that line many many times.
Is Stephanie just a bad omen? I notice in movies the character who ends up dead is (more often then not) named that. Well I must say it depresses me a little bit. So if you know a song about someone with my name, dare to share. Or if you write music and are itching for a new project, take up my cause, and write a song about me....which will be a difficult challenge if you don't know me well.
Peace.

I know, I know! I'm cutting it really close, but whatever, it has been a long day. The song is Somebody Told Me by The Killers. Awesome, right?
So this is the song because that's what was playing when I was in my dad's car, and surprisingly I remembered the words. It's been awhile since I heard it. That's how you know it's a good song, is if you can play it after so long and still sing along.
Peace.

Day 15
Hey Guys. So today's song is Unfriend You by Greyson Chance.
This guy is amazing. Before he came out with his record label songs, there was a video of him on youtube playing and singing a song by Lady Gaga. You could see in that video that no one really expected much; and then as soon as he started to sing, the mouths of the girls in the background just dropped. It was unbelievable and hilarious to see. So to honour people that can actually sing without autotune, Greyson is here for today.

Day 14
This is a day for old favorites. Today's song is Seasons Of Love from the movie RENT. I haven't seen this movie in forever, but today a commercial played this song and made me think of the movie, so there you go.
Now, if you have never seen the movie, I suggest you go watch it right now! It deals with a lot of mature themes, like gay/lesbian love, homelessness, STD's, drag....all of that. And it doesn't do it quite in the same way as rocky horror does. This movie tries to show that everyone has a personality and everyone needs love, they just find it in different ways. It's been years since I saw the movie, but I still remember the words to this song.
So watch the movie, then tell me who your favorite characters are, maybe they will be the same as mine.

Day 13
Lucky Number 13! Awesome. So today I've been watching more Video On Trial, which led to a string of pink videos. So today we have Funhouse by P!nk.
I've listened to P!nk my whole life. She just made it look so easy to be an independent girl, and she still does....although most of her videos show her trying to beat the shit out of someone, oh well. In this song you can hear the uniqueness of her voice, which I like. It also manages to make me hate clowns even more than I do right now. So I would like to know, what is your favorite P!nk song?
Peace.

Day 12
Well hello there. Lately on Supernatural they have been playing a song at the beginning, while showing what happened in previous episodes, so in light of that today's song is Carry On My Wayward Son by Kansas.
This band/song brings back a lot of memories of when I was younger cruising around with my dad, with my baseball cap turned backwards as I jammed. I was just that cool of a kid, you know you're jealous. These guys look just so epic, as you can see in the picture. Oldie bands with power solo's on guitar should never be forgotten, so they have come back from the past for today to show you what music really is. Enjoy.
Peace.

A Waste Of CD Space.
What has happened to CD's nowadays? I'm talking about the fact that there is now only even 8 - 10 songs on a CD when back in the day (when I was younger) there used to be about 20. And not just filler songs, but legit twenty good songs.
And the industry wonders why people download songs (illegally or otherwise) instead of buying the CD? It's because we aren't getting our money's worth to purchase one today. I am not going to pay twenty bucks for eight songs, when a few years ago I bought a CD for that amount that had thirty songs on it. Screw that.
They didn't used to release singles either when I was younger. What is the point of buying a disc, when every song you can get already as a single. I do have to hand it to them though. They are making it harder and harder to get music without buying it, now that limewire is dead. I have had to resort to a video converter, and even that isn't for sure. It is a sad sad day when music costs more than it's worth, and with the music in the charts lately? That day is everyday.

Day 11
Hello world. Today has been such a long day, I just want to sleep, but I made you a commitment. So today's song is Because which is a Beatles song, but I'm showing the version from Across The Universe. Deal with it.
So this was inspired by the Jazz Night at my old high school that I went to tonight. The Senior Jazz Choir sang this song (and others) the exact way the recording sounds that I linked. It was pretty good. Obviously not as perfect as this one, but what do you expect? They had fun and I enjoyed listening so that is all that matters. I'll put the video of them singing it on YouTube in awhile, on my YouTube account...which if you didn't know is here.
I have never really been that big of a fan of the Beatles, but I know some of their stuff. My question to you is which Beatles song from Across The Universe is your favorite??
Peace.

Day 10
Woot! We have reached the double digits! Not really that surprising considering how much music there is to show you but, hey, we should celebrate anyway. Today's song is Here It Goes Again by OK Go.
Now, I'm not particularly in love with their music, (except for this song) I have a much bigger love for their music videos. The things they do are just amazing, and you need to watch some of their videos if you haven't seen any.
Side note: any band with a bald dude with side burns who also wears big glasses just defies all things that make up the status quo. Sheer brilliance, that one.
Peace.
