Day 129

What up to the masses. Today's song is Pocket Full Of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield.

Today I worked a full shift with my sister. The other girl we were working this played this song and my sister and I both immediately thought of Easy A. That one part of the movie is hilarious. I thought it was pretty cool that we both had the same thought process. It seems to happen a lot, even though we don't live together anymore. Oh well, hope you are one of those people with a pocket full of sunshine.

Peace.

Day 128

Hiya. So today's song is a little strange, but I like it. Crocodile Rock by Elton John.

For no reason, this got stuck in my head at work. It didn't play on the radio. No one started to sing it. It just appeared in my frontal lobe as if it had been hiding there since the last time I heard it, ready to strike at my most pissed off moment. And honestly, it helped me not be so pissed off. Something about the word crocodile, I don't know. So hop and bop to the crocodile rock for me.

Peace.

Day 127

Hey, so today I give you Missing You by David Guetta.

There wasnt really any songs today that spoke to me, so I gave you the only song that got posted on facebook by someone I know. Hope you enjoy it.

Peace.

Day 126

Hello! So today's song is Shadows Of The Night by Pat Benatar.

So this song played on the radio when I was mopping the floor at work, and has kinda stuck with me all day. So there you go. A cover of it was done in a movie when I first heard it so I hadn't realized it was Pat Benetar till now, and I love it. She was a great role model if her songs are anything to go by. But that's really all I have to say so listen and enjoy!

Peace.

Day 125

Howdy. So today's song is Do-Wah-Doo by Kate Nash.

This song explains exactly how I felt about...well, pretty much every girl I went to school with. Girls are mean! They say things with their eyes and do their dirty deeds under the radar. Let me tell any guys out there that read this, you do not know what a girl is like until you have seen her angry. It's some scary shit. I should know, my sister's ex boyfriend is legit afraid of me because of it. Watch yourself, I'm telling you.

Peace.

Day 124

Hey everyone. Yes, it's actually me today! So, I give you what Taylor showed me yesterday: Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode.

The way this band sounds is really cool. It's like a part from every genre was thrown into a blender and this is what came out. At first I was a little unsure about this one, but it's growing on me with each time I play it, and that is what music should be like. It should grow on you more each time, instead of the radio playing the same stuff over and over again until you can't stand it anymore. That is why I don't listen to the radio. Stick with your ipods people. It's how you can tell a lot about a person.

Peace.

Day 123

Hello there to whoever reads Steph's blog! I'm her beloved and cherished friend Taylor. Today she asked me to do a guest post! I was originally invited to write about Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence", but I feel like I wouldn't be able to do that song any sort of verbal justice, as I'm just getting into Depeche Mode themselves.

I assume that because of who I am, Steph will have expected me to do a Beatles song, or make an ass out of myself by writing about Big Booty Hoes by Notorious B.I.G. or something. (Don't worry world, it'll happen one day.)

Instead the song I picked was The Times They Are A-Changin' by Bob Dylan. I don't want to put music in the blog that Stefi herself won't enjoy, but I honestly don't know her opinion on Dylan, or if she has one at all.
I find this song to be extremely powerful in so many ways. Almost too many to properly write about. The lyrics for one, and how they're complimented perfectly by the simple acoustic guitar and harmonica. Just listening to it again, trying to find a perfect line to some up the song, I feel like the best one is the title name.
This song speaks to every person or action that has tried slow progress. The first verse speaks directly to you. Love the change and wonder around you, don't fight it. The next verse declares itself to anyone artistically inclined (in my opinion). To those whose inspiration comes from events, landscapes, and the people around them, "For the loser now will be later to win, for the times they are a-changin'." The following verse is an obvious stab at the older generation of any time period. The people generally don't like change. Dylan writes that you need to embrace it, as your youthful companions are "beyond your command." After that, there comes the politicians. Dylan begs for them to not try and stand in the way of development, or there will be an uproar.

The final verse sums up to everything he's already said, but in such a way that's almost heartbreaking. It's a plea, in my opinion, but also a very confident passage explaining how he sees the world. And how it's changing.

Heavens, I feel like I wrote too much.

The best way to end this post is to give a recap on my outlook and a link to the song.
In many ways, Dylan has written an essay supporting the change that he sees around him and encourages others to adopt the greater good around them. Paired with the simple guitar:
(G-Em-C-G
G-Am-C-D
G-Em-C-G
G-Am-D
D-D7-Gmaj7-D
G-C-D-G)
and the moving harmonica line, Dylan created a symbollic masterpiece that yes, is also fun to sing along to.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7qQ6_RV4VQ - Sorry, this was only one I could find on YouTube with this good of quality. Plus this is a really good video to listen to it with I suppose.

We all need more Bob Dylan in our lives. <3

Day 122

Hiya. So today started RRRROLL UP THE RRRRIM TO WIN! at work. Awful. But, this song played on the radio while I was at work and it brought me some happy memories. So today I give you Black Betty by Ram Jam.

I'm sure that I am not the first person to say this, but this shit is legendary. I can't imagine someone living their life not knowing this song, so if you don't know it, or you know people who most likely have never heard it, make them listen!! The whole world needs to hear this song. It's sheer brilliance, and perfect for many different moods. Probably the only song that I can stand listening to a guitar solo in. Epic.

Peace.

Day 121

Whew! Last one. So today was aboslutely insane at work. I got my first break five hours in to my eight hour shift. Anyway, you know of my love for acapella, so today I give you Fireflies (acapella cover) by Mike Tompkins.

It's just so amazing to see the noises that can be made by his mouth. Amazing. If I was half as good as this, I wouldn't need to learn to play the guitar. The amount of epic in this one guy is great and I hope you agree with me on it. Keep an open mind, just see what you think. Deal?

Peace.

Day 120

Okay! So Saturday I went over and had a sort of guitar play date with this girl named Alexandra. She showed me a band and this is who you get today. Happily Ever After by He is We.

I love this band. I don't know why I've never heard of them before, but now I know them and it's great. I don't really know what to say about this band except that I hope you like them as much as I do. I've seriously listened to this song eight times today. Listen to it, it's great!

Peace.

Day 119

Let's start: friday I went out with my friends for the first time after my birthday. In honor of that, today's song is a mixture of songs. Check it: Dance Club Mashup.

This is the Back Alley, otherwise known as Crack Alley. We went here.
So, all club music sounds like this, for those of you who still aren't old enough for clubs. They are dirty and sweaty with creepy men everywhere grinding up on you. It's really kind of nasty, but it's an adventure. So enjoy!

Peace.

Day 118

Yo! Today I give you  4 Minutes by Madonna.

Timberland is in fricken everything. The dude knows everyone, it's crazy. Okay seriously, how old is Madonna? I feel like she's been around for forever and yet she still looks young. It's so weird. I love Justin Timberlake. I've never really found him sexy persay; but he is a very good dancer and singer. I don't understand what the time constraint is. You have four minutes to say the word. What exactly is the word? And what happens if you don't say it? These are the questions that leave me perplexed most days. I just want to point out that this video is longer than four minutes. Anyway, check it out.

Peace.

Day 117

Hey, readers! When Steph and I came up with the idea of me doing a guest post (this is Anna, by the way. Steph's dear friend and confidante), the ideas started churning. What would be the best way to force my music tastes down your throat? Maybe I could find a 20 minute long recording of Robert Plant screaming, or something else that poor Steph would hate.

Instead, though, we're going into Cat Stevens' classic, Peace Train.

Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens and whatever name he was born with before that, has been running around musically tossing good vibes everywhere for decades. He wrote about finding your place in the world, being yourself, loving people, all that good hippie jazz, and I love him for it.
Also, the beard.
Yesterday, this song played in the grocery store and I stopped the shopping for an impromptu dance party. Today, it cropped up in my ipod shuffle and I played it four consecutive times. My favourite lyric? "Now come join the living, IT'S NOT SO FAR FROM YOU!!". Something about Cat Stevens yelling at me to get over my issues and be awesome just makes me smile every time. Love you, homeslice.

Anyway, that's it for me. I hope that all of Music 365's readers can enjoy a good Cat Stevens jam as much as I do.

Thanks!
Anna. =)

Day 116

Afternoon everybody! Today's song is No Limit by 2 Limited.

So, today is my eighteenth birthday. I know, so amazing. This is the only song I could find that is semi close to when I was born. It came out January 18th, 1993, and I popped out pretty much a month after that. Is it strange that I find it semi comforting to know that my birthday song is 90's eurodance music. I think this song, band, and video are super hilarious. It makes me smile, so it's a good choice. But I have a challenge for you. See if you can find a song that came out February 15, 1993. Tell me if you do!

Peace.

P.S. I have an interesting fact for you. YouTube and I share a birthday. YouTube is 6 years old today! So, Happy Birthday YouTube.

Monday, February 14, 2011

Day 115

Well, hello, hello! Today's song is Locked and Loaded by The Arrival.

So I don't know anything about this band. It was hard enough trying to find a picture to use. They were a suggestion from YouTube, as many of my songs are. It's because this band fits in to my bubblegum power pop genre. You know, Anna thinks it's strange that I like this type of music, because I'm the only one she knows who listens to it, but a lot of people like it. All the bands in this genre share their fans. It's great! They could all do a concert together and it would be epic. If you don't know what I'm talking about, when I first started my blog I went through a bubblegum power pop phase. Check it out.

Peace.

Day 114

Yo. Today's song is Just A Dream which is originally by Nelly, but that's not who's singing it.

So yes, this is a cover. It's by Sam and Christina on YouTube. I love YouTube. It's such a fabulous invention to give us all the chance to hear such amazing people, from all over the world. So many new artists have been discovered through it, and that gives me hope. Now to get up enough courage to post a damn video of myself. Anyway, I love how this sounds and these guys are definitely on their way to the top. Also, major props to Kurt, who is doing the music for them.

Peace.

Day 113

Hi. Today's song is Re: Your Brains by Jonathon Coulton.

So today's song actually comes to us thanks to Facebook. I was trying to load one of those ridiculous games that I'm now addicted to thanks to my sister's boyfriend Will, when it popped up to a screen. On this screen it said they were doing maintenance and gave me two video links. One of them being to a video playing this song. I have got to say I think it's brilliant. If I could write music half as decent as this, I'd be happy. I've never been into the whole zombie thing, I'm more of a dark vampire person. I'm  not talking about the Twilight shit, I mean Blade, and Underworld. Even though I'm not a zombie lover, this song just makes me smile. If there ever is a Zombie Apocalypse, I will not be content until the zombie's start singing this.

Peace.

Day 112

Woot! Look how lucky today is! Anyway, today's song is Faith by George Michael.

This is thanks to my sister. I don't know how she found it or why she wanted me to see it, but every time I go on facebook it's right there and I play it. It's a good song for today because it sounds the way I feel. Well, I'm sick so I feel terrible, but my manager let me go home instead of working, so I'm currently sitting on my bed in my pajamas instead of pouring coffee. That makes me very happy. I love his guitar dancing. So hilarious! I just love everything about this video. His look, his boots, his dancing! But I do have one question: what does that girls face look like...

Peace.

Day 111

Hey everybody, today's song is Stuck Like Glue by Sugarland.

So I've always been a fan of Sugarland. I used to listen to it in the car with my mom when I was younger. Apparently, my friend Taylor absolutely hates this, but she doesn't read my blog anyways and is ignoring me right now so it's the song of the day for me. I think this video is so hilarious. She can make herself look crazy so easily. It just makes me smile how every time she's doing something, the guy playing the guitar is just chillin in the background. He reminds me of me when my friends do crazy shit, because I'm always just kinda there, observing the crazy. Well I hope you enjoy it like I did!

Peace.

Day 110

Hey Guys. Today' song is Bills, Bills, Bills by Destiny's Child.

So, is it just me or wasn't it just three of them. Like, who is the fourth girl in the video who just kinda stands with them the whole time. Honestly I don't know the names of any of them except for Beyonce...I wonder what happened to the other ones. Anyway, yes Glee brought me here. I have to say it's really sad to see that the most liked comments are all about Glee on the videos of songs the show covers. That's gotta suck for the artists. I know I would be upset if people only knew my song because someone else sang it. Of course, that's assuming that all those artists write their songs, if they use a songwriter the same thing happens even without Glee's help.

Peace.

Day 109

Hi! So today's song is Good Days Bad Days by Kaiser Chiefs.

I'm really bad at paying attention to crib, so I've been smacked with spoons a few times. That's what happens in my family when you don't pay attention to the card games. Through the smacking, I managed to find these guys thanks to Anna. This song is by an English band, and I have to say: it's catchy. I'm really confused by this video, but in a good way. I want one of those cube things that they have! Anyway, I'm tired and so that's all you get.

Peace.

Monday, February 7, 2011

Day 108

Hello! So today's song is When It's Over by Sugar Ray.

Such a blast from the past. You know, I knew this song, and I knew the lead singer from a movie, but I didn't know he sang this. I discovered today. I thought is was so weird, makes me feel differently about him... So there was another snow storm today, and it was completely dead at work, so I got to spend some quality time learning to bake timbits with my sister. It was fun, and this song reminds me of when I get to hang out with her, it's just so happy. If you have siblings, go get together with them. Just try it.

Peace.

Day 107

What Up! Today's song is When It Falls Apart by The Veronicas.

I'm super tired right now, so this is going to be a fast one. I'm tired because I thought I worked at 11 am today, but my phone rang at 8 and my manager was like "umm....you're supposed to be here right now..." So I've been going like crazy all day and am now back sitting in my bed, probably about to fall asleep. Anyway, this is something YouTube thought I would like and once again YouTube has proven it knows me as well as my friends...at least when it comes to music. These girls are Australian sisters. You can tell that they're related, they look exactly the same! Before I die I want to be at a party that somehow ends with an alligator in the tub. I just want to know how in the hell it got there! Well, that's it for now.

Peace.

Saturday, February 5, 2011

Day 106

Okay, back on track. So today's song is Trololo by Ed Roll'D.

I really don't have a description for this. I just have another video link and would like to say damn you to Rebecca (Anna's sister) for showing this to me and getting it stuck in my head for the rest of my life.

Peace.

Day 105

I'm so sorry, its so late but I haven't been home. I wrote this the day of just never got the chance to post. Sorry! Hi everybody. So today's song is Sh-Boom by The Chords.

So today I am writing from Anna's house, where I'm  hanging out with her and Taylor. Anna made us waffles when we woke up and have been sitting here at her kitchen table  listening to oldies music while doing the crossword. Yes, this is what happens when I'm not at work. Anyway, I love this song. I think it is absolutely impossible for someone to not love this song. It's just so epic at all times. I wish I could have seen these guys perform live, but there from a different era for me. Anyway, if you've never heard of them, check them out because everyone should know who The Chords are. And I mean everyone.

Peace.

Day 104

Hello Blogger world. So today's song is This Week The Trend by Relient K.

Can I just say how much I love this band? When I was at work on my break I listened to my ipod on shuffle. And every song it played was a Relient K song. I think it was fate. Seriously, no matter how I'm feeling listening to them makes me feel so much better...although this is the first time I've ever seen a picture of them. It slightly creeps me out, but then again I attract creepy people so I should see this as a good thing. I noticed today that one line in this song is a little emo.... "And I just want to get mugged at knife point, to get cut enough to wake me up, cause I know that I don't want to die, sitting around watching my life go by." Wow. It's crazy depressing, but so damn true. I don't want my life to just flash past me, which is currently what it's doing. Honestly, I've been doing this blog for over 100 days and all that I've done in those days is work. It's sad to think about it. So don't let your life go by, and listen to this song.

Peace.

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Day 103

Hey everybody. So I found something disturbing today and it's kinda thrown me off a bit so I apologize in advance if I seem scatterbrained to you. Today's song is I'm On A Boat by The Lonely Island Featuring T-Pain.

This is so hilarious. Really, anything that The Lonely Island does is fucking amazing. I love them. Okay, please tell me I am not the only person in this world who wants to be best friends with Andy Samberg. He is just so crazy all the time. Jorma gets my heart though, every time. It's so sad he didn't get to come on the boat, I love him. In case you don't know, in the picture it goes Andy (left) Jorma (center) and Akiva (right) T-Pain doesn't get his picture taken, stupid auto tuning. And okay, I know you guys don't share my love of A Capella music and choirs, but I honestly think this cover by Acquire Music is better than the original. Mostly because the girl can actually sing. Also, I want her pants. That is all.

Peace.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Day 102

Word to my Internet followers! So today's song is Open by Demi Lovato.

I don't care about all the drama that surrounds this artist. If she cuts herself, she cuts herself. If she has an eating disorder she joins the billions of other girls who have it but just don't have their life publicized. All I know is she has an amazing voice and I want a voice like that badly. The fact that she got herself out there with her music by starting with Disney kind of means she's bound to have a meltdown. Almost every female Disney star ends up having one, and that is not an exaggeration. Anyways check out the song, and tell me what you think.

Peace.
