Year 4, Day 344

Hiya. Today's song is Go Big Or Go Home by American Authors.

I’m going back through my Supernatural episodes again. I had been trying to before to see if any of them has glitches or sound issues, but gave up halfway through. As much as I love the show it gets a little hard to pay close attention when you’ve watched every episode at least five times already. If you’ve seen something you tend to veer away from it and let it become background noise while you do something else, but then that makes it hard if not impossible to figure out which episodes are the ones with the problem. I’ve found about ten so far and I’m into season three now. I’ve just hit the Mystery Spot episode which I know runs perfectly…. But it’s too good not to watch. What can I say, I’m a fan.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 343

Hey everyone. So today's song is Sound of Your Heart by Shawn Hook.

I know I showed you another of his songs not even a week ago. That's my bad I messed up and didn't realize his stuff was so close together. But both songs are ones I had bookmarked for you and we're getting to the end of this year's blog. So let's all just pretend that this is something new and exciting, okay? Okay.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 342

Hi. Today's song is Your New Boyfriend by The Orion Experience.

Have you guys ever seen the game Would You Rather? I mean would you rather has pretty much always been around, but now it's in a game form for people to enjoy and collect a consensus on a large group of people. I love watching people answer because everyone thinks about the questions differently. It's easy to do since the options are pretty open ended and don't have a lot of caveats to say definitively what each option would be like. I was hanging out with Sammy and Will last night so I had them answer a couple of the questions and it was intense. They like to argue so much! The link for the game is here so you guys can check it out yourself, but be warned: it can start some shit. Good luck!

Peace.

Year 4, Day 341

Morning. Today I give you Rock Your Body by Justin Timberlake.

Netflix ruined the Archie comics. I'm so beyond upset about how much they butchered this wholesome thing. Yeah sure I know creative license and all that, you need to switch it up a bit for the new people but switching it up is totally different than what has been done. Honestly. Making Archie sleep with the teacher?! Moose is apparently closeted even though him and Midge were perfect for each other? Betty is petty rather than nice and Veronica is immediately out for Betty's best interest instead of being a stone cold bitch. AND ARCHIE DOESN'T EVEN LIKE BETTY. All of that sounds bad, but what's worse is that my favorite character was always Jughead, so I kept watching the episode with a glimmer of hope praying they at least would be kind to my guy, but no. He isn't Jughead. Jughead was an endearing idiot who was on everybody's side, but they made him the brooding know it all blogger with contempt. Which is fine, I love those kinds of characters normally but that isn't Jughead. Also casting a childhood star ruined it for me. I know Cole hasn't been around for years so that classifies him a the same kind of B-actor the rest are, but I can't unsee him in his past roles. He is not a Jughead. What sucks is everyone is going to lap this up while I mourn the loss of sunny Riverdale.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 340

Hello. Today's song is Drag Me Down by One Direction.

So my grandpa was approached by his doctor about being one of the first ones to switch to home dialysis when it's approved in the province. It sounds great. He's happy, I was happy but... that happiness immediately switched to anxiety when the words "I would need someone to help me with the needle" came out of his mouth. There's a reason I didn't take nursing like 75% of my graduating class. I hate needles with a passion. So does my grandma and my sister. We are a squeamish family. He jokingly guilt tripped my grandma, dangling holidays on the carrot, but I myself already feel guilty for how much I don't want to do it. I love my grandpa and I know I should volunteer but needles!! I don't know what to do. I need someone else's opinion. Help me?

Peace.

Year 4, Day 339

Hi Guys. So today's song is Me and My Broken Heart by Rixton.

As this blog year is starting to come to a close I'm playing happy music. Some are even my favorites from the year including this one. It's included in my songs for a bad day playlist. That makes it sound bad, but the playlist is for when I'm feeling down and is filled with songs meant to change my mood to something more optimal for dealing with people in the world. I love this song and have already convinced one person to download it so now I'm trying with you.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 338

Hello. So today's song is Hold On Forever by Rob Thomas.

I have no idea why this video is unlisted or even how I found it for that matter, but I love it so I'm sharing it with you guys. Side note: it's also super cute that the actor in the video posted a comment on the video. The comment perfectly displays the overall feeling of this song, it's just so happy go lucky. It makes me feel like the world is a beautiful place, and considering the total shit show that the world is right now music like this is needed more than ever. Perhaps the video is unlisted because it's only the lyric video rather than the official one? Whatever this video is adorable and the actors are great. Plus I love getting to see the words so I can learn the song faster. Hopefully you do too.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 337

Afternoon guys. Today's song is So Close by Shawn Hook.

Apparently my sister has found my personality doppelgänger at her work. He's a nerdy guy she usually works with who likes video games, is an introvert, represses his feelings and drinks Dr. Pepper like it's his job. I also like video games (console though not PC), am introverted, repress everything, and drink Diet Pepsi like it's my life blood. Sammy's experience dealing with me is probably why she can handle him. Not everyone can handle the repressing types especially when dealing with conflict. Add to that that the other person is an extreme extrovert and it always ends badly. But I've trained Sammy over the years with my "I'm fine"s and "nothing"s. I don't know how she keeps finding these people. At her last job she found her personality doppelgänger too. So I'm wondering if you guys have found yours? Let me know, I'm curious.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 336

Hey guys. Today I give you American Hearts by Shawn James.

I know I've talked about this video before when I first found it since I loved it so much, but it deserves its own post. This time though I think I should probably talk about the guy who actually sings this song, as this one is just a cover. So this song is originally performed by A. A. Bondy (Auguste Arthur Bondy). He used to play guitar and sing in a band called Verbena in the 90's and went solo after they broke up. He released his first solo album which was called American Hearts which debuted his switch from rock to folk. This is the original version of the song. I prefer the cover myself, but without Bondy there would never even be a cover so we've got to respect that. The cover was filmed in a wolf sanctuary to bring to light what they do and raise funds to help take care of the animals so I'm going to leave you with a link to the wolf sanctuary's website.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 335

Hi. So today's song is Out of the Woods by Taylor Swift.

Awhile ago I had given Sammy a list of the songs I was going to put on my blog and asked her to pick one to write about. This is the one she chose so I'm handing it off to my sister now. Let's see what she says... "I can distinctively remember when I first discovered Taylor Swift, downloaded multiple albums, and then very excitedly attempted to show my sister my new discovery. She was more than unimpressed to say the least and very sternly told me she didn’t like Taylor Swift. This is why I am surprised to see it on the list of songs she has prepared for her blog. I personally am a large Taylor Swift fan and enjoy her song “Out of the Woods.” The song pertains to a few different relationships in my life including those of friendships and my spouse. The video is fairly simple but the visual aspect is quite beautiful. Taylor is seen running through multiple elements starting on the beach, through the woods, a snowy wasteland, followed by falling into a large body of water. Like most of Taylor’s music, it references her previous relationship issues. If you follow the media this particular song is about Harry Styles but thankfully the music video shows no sign of men, her relationship, or otherwise."

Peace.

Year 4, Day 334

What's Up. Today's song is I'll Be There For You by The Rembrandts.

I've never really been a Friends fan much to the utter shock and dismay of my friends, but I always did appreciate the theme song. It's a great song and will forever be shoved into the brains of my generation. Bonus points to the band and/or the director of the music video who knew they needed to just accept the fact that the song would only ever be associated with those actors an chose to put them in the video. People have tried multiple times to make me watch the show but the most that I can handle are posts from tumblr because some characters are just insufferable. Ross. I'm talking about Ross. Despite my feeling I am of the generation where everyone knows which character they relate to. It was too big of a show not to. So in case you were wondering Chandler is literally me... he couldn't be more me unless he was a women. So if you guys are familiar with the show give me a shout out about which character speaks to you.

Peace.

Friday, January 20, 2017

Year 4, Day 333

Hiya. Today's song is All That She Wants by Ace of Base.

So I decided to get back into New Girl and have caught up on the show. I dislike the Megan Fox arc and I don't understand how people think she should permanently replace Zooey. Like sure okay Zooey's character isn't as essential as the writers made her out to be, but after six years of they were still focused on only one character in a show it would be boring. And Megan's character was only introduced because Zooey was super pregnant at the time. Regardless of the position on the girls I think we can all agree that Jake Johnson is adorable. I know many of you probably have no idea what I'm talking about. You guys should at least check out the trailer and decide if you'd like the show.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 332

Hey guys. Today's song is Hollywood by Michael Buble.

I've had this song stuck in my head for the last couple of days. I felt like it was worth sharing that Michael Buble does in fact have songs that are not Christmas songs. This one is hilarious because its a little bit of a roast at certain performers. Like watch the video. The first character he's doing is clearly a take on Justin Bieber and I love the lowkey shade that's being thrown. The characters get a little less discernible after that, but I'm going to make guesses. These will clearly be wrong, but whatever. So the next one for some reason makes me think of Steven Tyler. The guy with the smashed car is in no way supposed to be Justin Timberlake but I can't help but see him because of his looks in some old music videos he did in the sexy back era. The one driving on set for some reason the fist name to pop into my head was Selena Gomez and I don't know where that came from. But that scene is legit any artist who is seen driving a car in their music videos. I assume he was going for some awesome film star like James Dean or something. The cowboy scene all my brain has is Clint Eastwood and I feel like that's the right choice. Next is Dukes of Hazard, then for the space guy I can only envision the scenes from a YouTube Rewind of Ryan Higa screaming. So I want you guys to tell me what each one makes you think of. It's like a fun musical ink blot test.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 331

Hello. Today I give you Marvin Gaye by Charlie Puth featuring Meghan Trainor.

Chances are that this is not the first time you guys are hearing this song because it is one of the more popular song I've featured. I don't really care though because it's a good song and I love it. In fact I went through a phase when I was playing chauffeur to my grandma where I listened to this song constantly to try and get the notes right on Meghan's part. It wasn't a good plan since it's totally out of my range, but it's a pretty standard way for me to be spending my time. Anyway let's just listen to this great song (inspired by another great musician) and enjoy the day.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 330

Morning. Today's song is I'm Yours by Jason Mraz.

I know it's been awhile, but I figured I'd give you an update on my little Disney princess Sims challenge. So I've moved past Snow White and Cinderella, and now I'm on to Tiana. I used the hard coding tricks to change the kids looks so it actually looks like Tiana even though there was a possibility it would wreck the whole game. I took the chance and it worked out. I'm not totally through her story yet but she's an awesome student with a part time fry cook job and style. I normally have to change their outfits when the grow up, but Tiana came out looking punk rocker in pink an green... she looked cooler than I could ever make her so I left it. I don't play the game that much so don't expect another update soon, but when there is one you'll have it. Until then you get Jason Mraz.

Peace.

Monday, January 16, 2017

Year 4, Day 329

Hi. So today's song is Hold On by Walk Off The Earth.

I don't understand how these guys find ways to continue to captivate us with their videos, I really don't. I always see one and think it can't possibly get better... but then it does. Like this one: the concept is so simple. It's a song called hold on, so they just hold on to a bar, but I still consider it to be a great idea and found myself stalled on everything else so I could see how it ended. As someone who is incapable of not multi-tasking while watching things that's quite the feat. I'm glad these guys are still around in the music scene because it's obvious they love what they do. And we all love it too. So check out the song and video... plus their other stuff if you're up for it.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 328

Hi. So today's song is Air Guitar by McBusted.

This link is not the official song. Instead it's a clip pulled from Tom's blog of the guys on tour practicing before going on stage. This is the actual song, but I have a soft spot for a capella arrangements and you can't get the full effect of the song pieces until you hear them in the clip. Singing their guitar parts is actually pretty common for musicians. I know from Sammy that every time the band gets a new song the first couple play throughs is everyone just humming their parts before adding in the instruments. She was not in this kind of band, but the big band scenario where she played clarinet. She was also in a marching band too, but that's a little too corny to get into. Anyway check out both versions and tell me what you guys think.

Peace.

Saturday, January 14, 2017

Year 4, Day 327

Morning. Today I give you The O.R.E.O Song by Carrie Hope Fletcher.

This is an advertisement for Oreos that Carrie made, but I honestly don't care. It's adorable and the animations that Oli Putland did are mesmerizing. I know the girl in the animation is supposed to be Carrie, but I always see Sammy and Will as the little people. Reasons being that Sammy has curly hair and Will loves Oreo cookies. It's a simple reason, but sometimes that's all you need. I'm also a little ashamed to admit just how ridiculously long it took me to realize the main phrase of the song (oh, really everything's okay) hides O.R.E.O in the first letters. I hope you watch the video to see the little love story unfolding.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 326

Hey guys. Today's song is Bright by Echosmith.

I'll never get tired of Echosmith. They're one of those groups that is great to listen to when you're in a good mood and makes you feel like the world is fantastic. I love that. Apparently a lot of people were upset with this song though because they used the melody from a song called You by The Pretty Reckless. I had never heard it so I looked it up and it is very obvious that they're the same. Thing is though, Echosmith asked and had permission from the band to use it so the fans really shouldn't be using it as a catalyst to incite hate. If the musicians are cool with each other then we all should be too. Just saying.

Peace.

Thursday, January 12, 2017

Year 4, Day 325

Hi. So today I give you Little Me by Little Mix.

I've shown you guys Little Mix before, but when I found this song I knew I had to feature it. If you read the comments on the video you can see that everyone relates to this song differently. Everyone has specific types of oppression that they think of when they hear it. It's such a female positive song and relates to the way most girls (including me) grow up. I know how privileged it makes me sound when a white female starts spouting inequality stuff, but that's not my intention. This is just the way I relate to the song. Women are pushed down in such a way that no one really sees it happening or know they're doing it. Things like being quiet and polite and not acting out. You only notice when you're older and can connect the dots. Then when women start to empower themselves and act out in a way they have never been allowed to, they get hate for it. Personally I still am shy, quiet and polite... but it's only because the thought of standing out gives me so much anxiety it physically pains me to try. I don't want future generation to feel like that and this song sends a great message out for them to hold on to.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 324

Hey. So today's song is Riptide by Vance Joy.

This guy is an Australian musicians so props to Australia today! He's from the same place originally that my cousin is living in now so that was a fun little factoid for me to see. Obviously this song is one of his most popular ones, charting at number one in 2013 on the Triple J Hot 100 list. Vance Joy is a stage name, so this is actually James Gabriel Keogh. He's pretty versatile in his interests. He has a background in football and has not only a Bachelors of Arts but a Bachelor of Law. That's all damn impressive if you ask me. He's still active in the music business so I hope you check out his other lesser known stuff.

Peace.

Tuesday, January 10, 2017

Year 4, Day 323

Hello everyone. Today's song is White Dress by Ben Rector.

So this guy is a musician out of Nashville, and this is another song from the movie One Small Hitch. Oddly enough that movie is the only thing on my Christmas List that I didn't get. This song fits in with the other wedding ish songs that I've been showing off based on it's title. It's from Ben's third studio album, but is pretty old in the scheme of his career since it has been seven years since the album's release. So if you like his style look up some of his other stuff because I'm sure there's a lot to enjoy.

Peace.

Monday, January 9, 2017

Year 4, Day 322

Morning! Today's song is Love Me Like You Do covered by McBusted.

As much as I like Ellie Goulding's music, I prefer this version of the song. I don't think she'd be offended by that fact either considering she's dating one of the guys in this band. I mention it because I can only assume this radio station knew that fact and purposefully used it to convince the boys to do this cover. I like how in the video it's obvious they don't know all the words since they're staring at phones the whole time (with the lyrics open on it). If you aren't familiar with the band Dougie (the one in the hat) is the member whose dating Ellie. McBusted is a mash of two bands that became famous around the same time: McFly who I've shown you multiple times and Busted who flamed out pretty quickly after their formation. The guys have all stayed friends so they spent a year or two touring and working together. This is from that time period. So enjoy the cover and if it's not you style the original song is right here.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 321

Hiya. So today's song is Mr. & Mrs. Beautiful by the Workday Release.

Weirdly enough before Will had even told me he bought a ring for my sister I had scheduled a couple of songs with marriage references. It would have been a cool coincidence if their spot on my list had aligned with the actual engagement announcement, but I'll take what I can get. I found this one more than a year ago and I've been saving it specifically for Sammy and Will. It's a gorgeous song and I love to sing along to it which I do frequently. I keep showing it to those guys in hopes that it'll flood their brain enough that they'll choose it for their wedding song, but if not maybe one of you have someone it could be perfect for.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 320

Hello. So today's song is I Do by Colbie Caillat.

Thanks to choir there is a special place in my heart for songs by Colbie. Ever since I had to learn one of her songs and sing it for our pops project I've appreciated her voice. I had never heard of her before that moment. The songs are happy and feel good which helps set the mood for the day while I'm still in the neutral zone. It's working for me right now and hopefully it'll work for you too.

Peace.

Friday, January 6, 2017

Year 4, Day 319

Hey guys. Today I give you Sweet Friend by the Orion Experience.

I've posted a lot of songs by the Orion Experience and for good reason: they're a great band. I love this song the most. I can't explain why. I mean it's a simple song and shorter than the average, but the simplicity is what makes it beautiful. Plus it's right in my range so I can sing along easily. I wont do the full spiel about the band again because I've done it before, so I'll just leave this song for you guys and hope it makes you smile.

Peace.

Thursday, January 5, 2017

Year 4, Day 318

Hi. So today's song is Break Up With Him by Old Dominion.

This song falls squarely into the new country genre, meaning that it's a mix of country music with another genre as an undertone. This band formed in Nashville (the apparent heart of country) but oddly enough all the members have a claim to Virginia. So that's why the band is named how it is. Old Dominion is a reference to the Virginia state. The members have a lot of co-writing credits with some pretty big name stars from their early years as a group before they moved on to writing their own stuff. This song was the first released from their album and hit number one for obvious reasons. Hope you like it.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 317

What Up. Today I give you Last Of The Red Hot Fools by The Jitters.

Here's another Canadian band that pretty much ruled the eighties. If you aren't Canadian it's possible you wouldn't know these guys, but props if you do. They were only really a thing for a decade before leaving the music scene, but the were efficient in those ten years. They toured constantly, released two albums and were nominated at the Juno Awards for Most Promising Group of the Year. This is another of those songs from my childhood that is seared into my brain and isn't gonna go away anytime soon. Thanks for that mom and dad. I will admit that I enjoy the song, although the music video (while probably cool in its time) gives me creep vibes now. Listen and watch if you like.

Peace.

Tuesday, January 3, 2017

Year 4, Day 316

Hey. So today's song is Everybody's Got Somebody But Me by Hunter Hayes featuring Jason Mraz.

I'm excited to finally feature this one because I love it so much. It's a great duet. I mean it doesn't hurt that the song is relate-able for my forever alone ass, but still if you look at it objectively the tune is beautiful. I also have a lot of respect for Hunter Hayes because he seems like an unproblematic celebrity. I've never heard anything bad about him, which is rare for people in our age group. So hooray for unproblematic people and I hope you enjoy the song.

Peace.

Monday, January 2, 2017

Year 4, Day 315

Hello. So today's song is My Window Faces The South by Brad Paisley and Asleep At The Wheel.

This is one of those songs that is sung by everyone and their moms so you can find a ton of different versions. It's not quite at Christmas covers level, but it's up there. This version is the one I always had saved to show you, but in the time that I found it and am posting it, I've had to relink it several times. I guess the copyright is strong with this one. So fair warning that there is a possibility that the link will die after only one day. I mean I expect things like that which is why I always write out the title and artist so if the link craps out you guys can go look it up yourselves. I try and keep an eye on them though. Let's just all send good vibes and hope that this one stays live for awhile.

Peace.

Year 4, Day 314

Hiya. So today's song is All About The Girl by Jordan McIntosh.

Alright we're barely into the new year, but I just woke up so I'm going to write this out and not have to worry about it for the rest of the day. I'm trying to set the mood for this next year with the first song (while still finishing the country set list I've got going on.) It's upbeat and feel good so it's the song for today in hopes that I can keep my year upbeat too. Wish me luck.

Peace.
