Hey everyone. So today's song is Stacy's Mom by Fountains of Wayne.

Ah yes, the iconic song that ruled my childhood despite being released way before I was an idea. I actually discovered this song because of a different YouTube video. Rather than seeing the music video, it was a video of the two dudes lip syncing it and I found it to be hilarious. The faces... so great. It's doubtful I'll be able to find the link since it was one of the first videos I ever saw on YouTube, but I'm going to try. Regardless though can we talk about how creepy of a concept this is? Like why are boys so gross. I can confidently say I've never hung out with a friend and thought "damn look how fuckable her dad is. I want that." Gross. Just...ugh. I don't care what the mom looks like in the video, in my mind all parents should be considered anatomically incorrect like a barbie or a ken doll. My rules of entertaining the ideas of a romance: married people are off limits, parents are off limits, people in serious relationships are off limits. Things are a lot less complicated in my brain that way, but it really should be common sense.

Hello. Today's song is Living On A Prayer by Bon Jovi.

I cannot believe I haven't featured this song until now, it's legitimately shocking to me. It's obvious that most people know this song, but for those of you who have never seen the video and basked in the glory that is men's 80's hairstyles it's a must watch. I belt this song every chance I get much to the irritation of the people around me when it happens. You would think that it would be expected by now. I wish I lived in a musical where it's okay to sing in public because no one realizes it's singing to move the story forward. But no, if I sing suddenly I'm the crazy woman everyone stares at. Oh well, I'm used to it by now since I can't stop myself regardless of opinion. But seriously just one day in a musical world and I can die happy.

Hey. Today's song is I Don't Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith.

I've gotten through enough years on this blog before getting to this song, so it's about time. What can I say? It's iconic. I don't know anyone who doesn't immediately sing along to it when it comes on, much like what happens with Bohemian Rhapsody. I'll admit it, I'm not a big Areosmith fan. Steven Tyler doesn't really do it for me, but regardless I can appreciate how important this song has become, so if I'm talking about old hits this has to be included.  Hope you enjoy.

Year 4, Day 126

Hi guys. Today's song is Don't Shed A Tear by Paul Carrack.

So the Juno's came out with a video about when they visited my old high school and it's a great day for me to share it with you, because it made me get all emotional and teary eyed. Basically my love of music that gets expressed by doing this blog really got started when I was in high school. I mean I loved music before and was a part of musical things, but the support I had musically at Beave changed my perspective for the better. When the Juno's came to Calgary they made a stop at the school to give some new music equipment to our arts program thanks to my old teacher. So this video is a sum up of that event which featured Alessia Cara (yes, you heard me) and my music teacher Mrs. Wood, who did a lot for my confidence. Her speech is what really touched my heart, but I'm not going to shed a tear because it's just another thing I can be proud to have been a part of.

Hey. So today's song is We Belong by Pat Benatar.

I love Pat Benatar. I am unapologetic about my love of her...yet people always seem surprised that I even know the words. Most people at least know part of this song, as it was very popular (and is a major movie track.) If you hadn't noticed the pattern yet, we are getting into a little 80's greatest hits kind of cycle for this week. Greatest hits that I haven't already had featured at one point or another clearly since these are well known, but not the most well known songs by any particular artist. Okay I'm rambling without saying anything of consequence so I'm ending here, enjoy the song.

Morning! So today's song is Moonlight Desires by Gowan.

Consider me officially worried if you've never heard this song before. It's a song that is from a generation older than me, the kind of music my mom or dad would listen to, but it is able to move through the generations because it's that good. 40 years from now I bet people will still know it. Surprisingly there's nothing better I can say than what is in the YouTube comments, so I'll add some of those in. "This is a haunting beautiful song. It is dark, it is hopeful, it is stirring. I am always stunned to listen to this when I hear it. And it is Canadian. I sense no age from this song. Gowan knows!" And another comment for those of you interested in the hilarity rather than the mild euphoria: "Gowan in all his Aztec pyramid fueled mullet glory." Well...that does say it all.

Year 4, Day 123

Hi guys. So today's song is Talking Body by Tove Lo.

Can we talk about what is, or should be, the tolerable amount of PDA in public? I mean yes obviously I know the P in PDA stands for public, but there are different levels. So I just spent the last hour trying to avoid eye contact with the most sickeningly touchy high school couple I’ve encountered since well…high school. I assume that’s what they are and it’s a relatively new relationship since their still in the honeymoon phase. You know, when the significant other walks on water and is sooo awesome that you can’t bear to not only be without them but to not be touching them. I get PDA. I understand wanting to show affection to the special person, but I am at a restaurant to eat and catch up with the others at my table, not to witness you sucking face and feeding each other and laying on each other because you’re sharing a seat made for one. Stop it. I’m extremely hormonal right now which means that my fuse is very very VERY short, but this is still something that would bother me at a normal time…just not to the extent that I’ve been annoyed today. I just want to clarify it, like what is the limit of PDA? Is there some unspoken guideline? I think there has to be otherwise everyone would be boning in the streets, but I need to know where the line is drawn.

Hi. So today's song is Take Shelter by Years & Years.

This is another song I've has saved for awhile, but it's kind of blown up since I added it to my list so chances are you've already heard it. Whether it's new or not the song is great so no complaining. I know people always complain about there only being a few artists who are relevant (the fact that The Weeknd got nominated for 16 awards in one awards show is coming to mind) but there is actually a huge amount of bands and singers that aren't too popular yet. I say yet because Imagine Dragons opened a door for all the other kinds of bands to walk through on their way to the top 40's. I feel like these guys have the potential to be another breakthrough kind of artist, if they haven't become that already.

Hello. Today I give you No Rest For The Wicked by Lykke Li.

As promised we have Lykke Li who I talked about two days ago because her style is compared to Dillon's. This could be style as in fashion of which I have no comment, but I'm going to choose to believe it's music style. Now, I just listened to both of the songs I have to post, and the style doesn't really seem the same to me. Obviously it's hard to decide from one song per artist because all the really tell is the song's style, but I can honestly say that I never would have pit these artists against each other if someone hadn't told me to. Good music is good music, they have different types of voices which sets them apart from each other and that's all there is to it. Don't let me decide for you though, tell me your thoughts in the comments.

Year 4, Day 120

Hi everyone. Today's song is Clementine by Sarah Jaffe.

Okay so as I’ve mentioned some of these I write in advance so this post was actually written the day that the new SAIT logo came out, and I am enraged. Here’s a little backstory: SAIT is the school I went to a couple years ago. I chose to go there because my grandpa used to be a teacher there, and that’s where my uncle went to school, and I love that history. Well I’m graduated now and my mom works there now so there is still that tradition going. They are celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the school opening and decide that the best way to celebrate the centennial is to fucking change the thing that has been around for 100 years. Yes the logo had been tweaked before, but what they have done today is a complete scrapping of the old logo (which was better) for something that looks like it was drawn by a 2 year old. They have kept nothing from the old identity and that’s what represented the great school, and now it’s going to be wrecked forever. I lost respect for the institution when I saw the new design and I know I’m not the only one. It seems like not that big a deal and I’m more than likely overreacting, but I can’t help but be appalled by the amount of tuition wasted changing something that didn’t need to be changed when they could have bought new equipment for the students or built the student center the students have been petitioning for for six years. Personal opinion.

Hiya. So today's song is Thirteen Thirtyfive by Dillon.

So Dillon was born in Brazil, but lives in Germany so shout out to both countries on having someone so great. This song was from her first album in 2011, and she has another one that was released in 2014. In an odd coincidence, she get compared a lot in her style to another artist called Lykke Li which I actually have saved for two days from now. The fact that they are thought of together and I somehow managed to track them together is endlessly hilarious to me. So I guess in two days we'll see if what people say is true. For now though enjoy some Dillon.

Hey. So today's song is Foolish NaNa by Barei.

This is an incredible Spanish artist so let's give it up for Spain today!! It's an older song, but I just found out about it so you need to be excited with me. Plus it's still relevant because she is going to be representing Spain at Eurovision this year. Personally I'm still coming to terms with the fact that Eurovision is a thing that exists and gives us such gem performances, but also some incredibly questionable things... like Dustin the Turkey. Ireland...go home because you are clearly drunk. I kind of wish Canada was included just to see what kind of fucked up things we'd come up with, but I'm also very grateful that we aren't. Anyway good luck to Barei in it this year. Hopefully you guys will do well.

Year 4, Day 117

Hi. So today's song is Young Blood by Bea Miller.

This song is a bit more subdued than the other one, but I feel like they fit together pretty well. Apparently Bea was on X Factor and that's how she was introduced to the world. Personally I don't watch stuff like that because of the cringe-worthiness it usually has, but congrats to her for being able to make it into a career. I've told you guys recently about my secondhand anxiety and secondhand embarrassment so it shouldn't have been a shock to hear I don't watch that. Honestly anything that is reality and isn't necessarily scripted stays off of my radar. I prefer my sci-fi worlds when viewing things. Anyway this song is awesome, she's clearly underrated so give it a listen.

What's Up. Today's song is Wild Things by Alessia Cara.

I'm felling really sick and horrible today so I'm trying to cheer myself up with music. Alessia Cara is one girl that I'm super excited that her career has worked out for her. All right, you know it's coming so... woo Canadian!! Representing on the charts what!?! She's from Brampton, Ontario which does nothing to sway my argument that every famous Canadian is from that province. But props that for once it's not someone from Toronto. Obviously everyone knows her breakout song...I'm pretty sure I already featured it (if not it's on the way) so enjoy this other one and celebrate some more Canadian talent.
