Year 2, Day 153

Hey. So today I give you The Autumn Carnival by The Dandy Warhols.

This is another excellent band with a fanbase that doesn't represent their quality. They put together a video that fits the feeling of the song perfectly. It's a kid whose doing everything he can, to get a bike, so he can escape. I understand the feeling of needing to get away. I've thought about just hopping on a plane and going somewhere. I don't think I could ever do that though in reality. Anyway, you should check out this song. It's got a really unique sound and feel.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 152

Morning! So today's song is Blue Ice by Shout Out Louds.

This song is very interesting. It's laid back, but still uplifting. Stuff like this I like to file away for while I'm studying. Calming music helps me understand thing like how to find the quartile of a group of data about meeting times. Statistics. It helps when what you're learning is a total mindfuck, but the music is really chill. It's like a voice saying "Hey, calm down. This is a stupid school assignment! Breathe, and listen to me." Music: the reason I am not an alcoholic university student.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 151

Hey Guys. Today's song is Home by Phillip Phillips.

This track is really moving for me. Awhile ago, a friend of mine got in a car accident and was hurt pretty badly. He was in the hospital for a long time and everyone was worried. His mom relayed all the Facebook posts back to him of people wishing him well. It was a lot of work for her...most likely to keep from breaking down herself. So I posted my wishes to him, and then I also posted this for him and his family. I thought the lyrics were perfect for the situation. He's home safe and sound now, but I hear this song all the time since then. I thought I'd share it with you guys too.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 150

Hello. Today's song is Until The Sun Comes by Rival Sons.

I wanted something a little more upbeat for you guys today, and that's what this song gives you right from the first chord. It's the type of song that you want to party too. I didn't think it could get any better...but then the voices split and did octaves which made me go all girlish. It sounds so cool! I am noticing a pattern lately of band's music videos not actually having the band in them. The animated videos or (in this case) toy videos are becoming a trend. Strange. Anyway, give this song a listen.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 149

Hi, so today's song is Leaf by Cave Painting.

This is a little bit more on the mellow side, a good song to play when driving around. I like that his vocals have a unique tempo in the song, differentiating it from the rest of the music. It brings the focus where they want it to be, which is on the singer himself. There's a prediction on YouTube that these guys are going to get mainstream soon. Well, I believe that. Once the Of Monsters and Men aftershock is up these guys could be the next featured band to rock the charts. We'll just have to wait and see.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 148

Hey! So today's song is Cold Skin by To Kill A King.

This is a great song, found once again in the underbelly of YouTube where it's hidden from most people. The one comment on the video says everything about this song. "The music video is about changing your ideas of who you were and start seeing yourself for who you truly were. It's about confronting yourself, your past and your future self, it's about childhood conflicts to adulthood crisis. All in all, it's about changing yourself." It's not just the music video, but the actual song too. Either way I couldn't have said it any better myself. So check it out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 147

Merry Christmas Everyone! I give you Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) sung by Michael Buble.

This is my second favorite Christmas song, and I gave you my favorite last year so ta da! I chose Michael Buble because despite every person on earth redoing any carol possible to make more money for themselves...his Christmas record is amazing. He doesn't butcher the songs and give them all the best production possible. From the big band playing and the carol girls, he gets the Christmas feeling right and holds on to the traditional piece while still giving his own flare. It's a nice mix. If you are up to it, go check out the song he does with The Puppini Sisters. It's another favorite of  mine.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 146

Hey. So today's song is Go On Strike by Lower Than Atlantis.

This band rocks so hard! Once again it's something I found on YouTube sidebar. These guys are not nearly as famous as they should be. It continues to amaze me that people like them are so underrated because the current generation is in love with artists like Justin Bieber. I know I went through a boy band phase, but I listened to other types of music that whole time. If I ever have a kid, they are going to listen to everything. Mark my words. Also, can I just say how much I love that everyone is fingering the camera in their video. It's so bad ass.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 145

Hi. So today's song is Young Heart by We Are The Ocean.

Here's another incredible band. This is a song everyone can relate to, and We Are The Ocean performs it perfectly. I'm not sure what I can say about this, it's just good music. That should be enough to peak your interest and check them out. This is a great song and I'm pleased to share it with you.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 144

Hello Again. Today I give you Little Talks by Of Monsters And Men.

Congratulations on surviving. For the record, I didn't think the world would end, but I know people who did so I thought I'd mention it. Now I know the only thing more annoying than preparing for an apocalypse are the statuses that come when it doesn't happen,so this is all I will say about it. Now on to the music! This guys are rising in the ranks of fandom. Vevo is featuring them now, so it's only a matter of time before they do like Imagine Dragons and The Lumineers did by ending up topping the charts. No complaints from me on this though, they're great. So are those other bands, I'm just happy that bands are becoming more popular. Give these guys a chance, you wont be disappointed.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 143

Good Morning. So today's song is Worry About You by Tyler James.

This is great. Like the song for yesterday, I love the beat and it's great for letting go. The rapping is amazing and makes me jam, then the guy comes in with his singing. It's like an angel, that's how much I love it. Oh my gosh, it's incredible. I honestly can't handle such good singers. I go all weird and scare people. I just love talent so much!! It doesn't help that the song is about them caring about a girl. If I don't end up with a musician, my life will be very sad...listen to this.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 142

Hey guys. So today's song is Learn To Love Again by Lawson.

Caution: this song gets stuck in the head easily. I don't mind having it stuck in my head, but you might not be as cool with it. I love the beat for this one. It's a great song for letting go and just being there. Something to help forget about everything that needs to be done for a few minutes to just bask in the awesomeness. And when he goes up in pitch in the chorus? Urgh, why must he be so great. Toner. All day, everyday.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 141

Hi. So today's song is If You're Never Gonna Move by Jessie Ware.

This song used to be named 110% but there was some copyright issues so she had to change the name. No matter what the name is, it's still great. Her voice is very cool. I didn't expect it to sound the way it does, but it is pretty and good for the song. I don't know what I can say about this one. You'll just have to decide what you think.

Peace.

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Year 2, Day 140

Hello. So today's song is A Drop In The Ocean by Ron Pope.

Ooooh. He would have my heart in a second. The lyrics are so cute! He just wants love so much, it makes me melt. You can hear the passion in his voice as the song goes on. There is nothing more attractive than a passion for what you do. It's infectious. If someone is passionate then they are so happy and that makes me happy. I think that's why I'm so obsessed with music. It's an archive of proven passion. You can feel it if it's strong enough. So listen to this song, and tell me what songs you find full of passion.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 139

Hiya. So today's song is Yes, Yes We're Magicians by The Crookes.

Oh the snapping. I love when you want to snap your fingers for a song. I just find myself smiling and swaying back and forth. This song starts out like a sixties song (at least in my mind) then once they have you hooked, they move into their rock party. This is not crazy hardcore rock music. It's a light watered down version that mixes a few sounds from different genres. This is like a stepping stone to show someone to move them toward music played by actual bands. It's just really amazing and you need to hear it.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 138

Hey. So today's song is Popular Song by MIKA ft. Ariana Grande.

I'm a big fan of this song. I've always loved him as a singer, and of all of the cast on Victorious Ariana had the most talent. That show has been cancelled now, but I'm glad to see she is still doing stuff. Her voice is incredible live and these two put together sounds incredible. The video is pretty awesome too. It reminds me of a Tim Burton film. I also noticed that there was a little piece from the song Popular from Wicked put in there, and that makes me day. This song and video is all around perfect and I highly recommend you check it out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 137

Hi. Today I give you We Are In Love be Cider Sky.

This is a great song. Right from the beginning, I love the contrast their voices give. Mixing her soprano with his base makes a good balance of pitch. It's a beautiful song about being in love, and I know that nowadays there are millions of love songs. You would think the world was sick of them, but they just keep coming. Later generations of artists have been confusing love with infatuation, but this song? This is about real love. It doesn't need to be big and vibrant, it just needs to tell the story. Exactly like real love should be. Listen to it, it's incredible.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 136

Hello. Today's song is Stay by Henry Krinkle.

Sorry I couldn't find a video for this song. It's all about the music anyways, so let's discuss it. It's kind of clubby. I say kind of because it starts out really slow and then moves in to the repetitiveness that normally is found in a club mix. Even though it's repetitive, I still like it. You can tell he knew how to put all the pieces together to make a great track. It's a perfect mindless song for when you need to drown life out. So give it a chance and tell me what you think.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 135

Hey. So today's song is Teenage Daughter by Dog Is Dead.

It might just be me, but I find that the music is generally better when it comes from unique named bands. I'm talking about when you look at the YouTube video title and can't automatically tell which part is the song title or the band name. This is a quieter song, but it's amazing still. It kind of reminds me of Imagine Dragons with a slower tempo. Check them out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 134

Hi. So today's song is This Ladder Is Ours be The Joy Formidable.

YouTube knows me too well. I go on my computer and open it up, getting stuck in an endless loop of awesome, thereby never doing the stuff I need to do. Everything I find is stuff I've never heard of before too. Like this band. I did not know they existed, and that's terrible because I love their sound. It kind of tricks you at the beginning, because it takes awhile before they add in more instruments. Some people are impatient and would close it before that happened. Don't be one of those impatient people. Listen to the whole thing.

Peace.

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

Year 2, Day 133

Morning! So today's song is The Boom by T Mills.

So the link I gave you doesn't have video with it. Not because there isn't a video, but because I can't stand looking at the dude trying to be a hipster. I just can't handle it. It's like watching thirteen year olds acting like their drunk at a rave. When I was thirteen I didn't even know what a rave was, and all I wanted to consume was pizza. Obviously I have moved up from the current generation. On the evolutionary scale I think we're starting to move backwards....this song is evidence of that. Well, here's to hoping you are not a thirteen year old hipster.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 132

This song is ridiculous. Here's Gucci Gucci by Kreayshawn.

I know this song is terrible. I only am sharing it because I have a fun story about why I know this song. So Will and I have this thing that we do. I accidentally started it by singing at him all the time. Once I called him and sang Britney Spears to him. Anyway, one day I was singing to Sammy on the phone, and he stole the phone from her and started saying these lyrics. I, being a little shit, looked it up and started singing the entire song to him. Him and Sammy both thought I was losing my mind. I probably was...but anyway I thought I'd share my story and this ridiculous song with you.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 131

Hey. So today's song is Donald Trump by Mac Miller.

Yes, there is actually a song called Donald Trump. It's named after the businessman that the world hates. Is it the in thing now to write songs about celebrities? This is the first song I've found with a play on a celebrity. I wonder how the famous people feel about it? Like the Halle Berry dance. Did she like it? The sad thing is this song isn't even about Donald Trump. He is a side note of the lyrics, and is used as a new way to describe what you want to be. Apparently a rich mofo like Donald Trump...who raps. A rapping Donald Trump? That's not a good mental image.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 130

Hello. So today's song is Live And Let Die by Wings.

This is a powerful song. There is no better word to describe it. It's a sad song, and makes me feel really down at the beginning, but then it's also so rockin. When it's in that stage, all you want to do is headbang and enjoy life. Paul McCartney how do you do this to me?! I have such strong feelings about this song. So I can only describe it as powerful. Give it a chance.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 129

Hey. So today's song is Stand Behind The Music by Anjulie.

Did I ever tell you guys that I saw her in concert? Well I did. She opened for Hedley when I went to see them. This was before I knew who she was of course, but I was impressed. Watching her DJ try to party and dance like her while still doing his thing was entertaining. I know I normally complain about the artists of today, but this song is just so amazing. I love the message, about standing by what you're doing rather than all the other shit going on. It's pretty much her telling everyone to be themselves, and that's pretty cool.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 128

Prepare Yourselves. Today's song is Liquid Dreams by O-Town.

This is straight up pop from a Planet Pop CD. I've been moving away from my bubblegum power pop lately so I thought I'd bring it back. This is so funny. O-Town is the boy band that never really hit mega fandom. Everyone knows the Backstreet Boys and N*Sync, but these guys? I only know them because of this song. I used to listen to this when I was a kid, and I definitely just realized what he means by liquid dreams....eww. When I hear it now I just laugh about the people they mention in the song. It's the little things that make me happy haha.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 127

Hi everyone. So today's song is Birch White by Agalloch.

I stole this off of someone's Facebook again. That's pretty much all I use it for now, is to find music. I don't really know what to say about this song. I like it a lot, the instrumental of it is really good. It's a little strange that he's just talking...but whatever. It works. So check this song out and tell me what you think.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 126

Did anyone else watch Fantasia as a kid?? The Sorcerer's Apprentice with Mickey Mouse?

This just started playing on my ipod and immediately I went to Fantasia. Did anyone else watch Fantasia as a kid?? That movie scared the crap out of me, when the fire started and all the animals were running....but the Mickey part was fun. The video I attached shows the whole scene. When I'm at school, this is the kind of thing that I like listening to when I study. Instrumental pieces are easier when you're trying to retain what is being read. You can't really do that when you're listening to someone sing about something else. I know this one is pretty long guys, but you should see it. This is back when Disney was still good. Check it out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 125

Hey Guys. Here's something to brighten up the Monday. I give you Beauty Queen by Lash.

Maybe this wont brighten up your day. It has that effect on me though. It makes me feel so awesome, and I don't know why. It doesn't really matter though, as long as I feel it. Her voice is strange, but it works perfectly for the song. Australian girl bands for the win!

Peace.

Sunday, December 2, 2012

Year 2, Day 124

Hello! So today's song is As Lovers Go by Dashboard Confessional.

This song I got from a movie soundtrack. I don't know why it's taken this long to get this song on the board. I have always loved this, especially his voice. Not to mention, he sings in my key, so I can sing along without much effort. I love when that happens. There aren't really words to describe how perfect the song is...I just wish I had someone to sing it to. Check it out, it's beautiful.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 123

Hey. Today's song is Nocturnal House by Pretty Girls Make Graves.

When my ipod crashed last year, I had to put all new music on it. So Anna and I went to the library and checked out about fifty CDs. I grabbed anything that I thought looked cool and put it on my ipod. The Pretty Girls Make Graves CD was one of them. I had never heard of them before I selected them at the library, but I love their sound. This is such an interesting song! It's perfect for a movie soundtrack. Anyway, you really should give this one a chance. You might find it as cool as I did.

Peace.
