Year 2, Day 92

Hi. Today's song is Keep You by Wild Belle.

This song sounds so strange. I can't wrap my head around her voice. It's unique and so cool! So I got this song from Pitch Perfect. They played really good music in the movie, a lot of stuff that I'd never heard of before. I decided that I had to find it and therefore, I give you this song. The whole set up for this song is pleasing to the ear so give it a listen.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 91

Hi. Today you get Keep Your Head Up by Andy Grammer.

This is the best song I've heard so far this year. That's how great it is. I only found it because of Pitch Perfect (which I've now seen three times) but where you find good music isn't important, finding it is. It's physically impossible for me to listen to this song once. I play it four or five times before I'm satisfied and I have to fight a bad urge to sing along right now, considering I'm siting in the middle of a hundred students eating lunch. Me bursting out into song isn't really in the cards right now, but be sure that when I get home I will be partying alone to this. If you are going to only listen to one song from my blog ever, it should be this one. Listen to it.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 90

Hey. Today's song is Had It With Today by The Saturdays.

Oh this song is so perfect right now. My day is still in it's early stages, but it's been such a shitty day. I barely passed my midterm, while everyone else I've talked to has above 90% and it's snowing which made transit awful. It took twice as long to get to school and no ones even here today! I'm alone. Seriously, what the hell. Not to mention I didn't do anything this weekend for Halloween even though I was aware of stuff my friends were doing. I can't really freak out about that because I was invited, but not to the party I wanted to go to. In conclusion today just sucks and so therefore: this song.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 89

Hello everybody. So today's song is Wild Animal by Rival Sons.

Here is a song that the guy I like actually put on Facebook, telling people to listen to it. So, because I'm a creepy like that, I did. It's really good. The drumming is amazing and I love his voice. They are a pretty amazing band, and I'm kind of sad I hadn't heard of them until now. I at least found them now, and with this blog so have you. So check them out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 88

Hey. Today's song is The Words We Say by Straylight Run.

I found this band last year when I was running low on people for this blog. Since then, the amount of music by them on my ipod has increased greatly. I chose to showcase this song because it's so pretty and gives you a good sense of what kind of band they are. All of the songs I've heard by them are unique and make you question how it can sound so weird, but so good at the same time. They make all kinds of sounds work together that usually wouldn't. So give them a listen.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 87

Hello. Today's song is A New Day Has Come by Celine Dion.

I normally dislike Celine Dion. Let's just get that out there right now. She is one of the most well known Canadian artists and that makes it so there are a lot of jokes about her and the people that like her. It's sad, but that's how life works. Even so, I can't get over this song. I love it, and used to sing it when I was sad. It doesn't have too much of the voice inflection that is uniquely Celine, so you can kind of separate it from all the talk. You can still here it if you try to though. Now I don't care what you think about her as a person, or an artist. Give this song a chance.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 86

Sup. Today I give you I've seen The Light / Inside Of Clouds by N.E.R.D.

A repeat artist from last year, but a completely different sound. When this played on my ipod, I hadn't even made the connection to what band it was because it sounds so different than the last song I showed you. I love this one. It has an interesting feel to it, kind of mysterious but happy. I don't really know how to explain it to you guys so you're just going to have to listen to it for yourself.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 85

Hi. So today's song is Sweat Of Your Brow by Jully Black ft. DeMarco.

Remember when I said we had been going through all the old mix CD's I owned? Here's another song from one of those. It's a song I constantly forget about until I hear it, yet when I hear it I start dancing and singing along. I got some weird looks at work when I did this a couple days ago....If you've been reading all my posts, you can probably guess that there's a pattern happening: I find music I like, dance to it, get caught dancing to it, have people think I'm crazy. With Anna being in Lethbridge I look even more crazy because I don't have someone that will join me in my insane dancing. That doesn't stop me though, so take one second today, even if you're alone, and dance to something you love.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 84

Hey. Today's song is Follow You Down by Gin Blossoms.

Another blast from the past as far as music goes. This song is so great! I love how it sounds, because no matter what kind of day I'm having, it makes me happy within the first measure. Songs that can do that are severely lacking these days, so I've started reverting back to the stuff I listened to in junior high. So far it's working great. I can actually focus on what I'm doing instead of finding music I feel like listening to, which is making studying a little easier. I'm one of those people that learn better when I have music playing. I don't need silence to study, just organized noise. Anyway, check this song out and if you have any music for me feel free to share.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 83

Hello. Today's song is Your Man by Down With Webster.

Hunter has converted me. She is obsessed with Down With Webster, and I can see why. They have some really good music, and honestly I didn't expect them to. You really shouldn't judge a band by what people tell you about them because I expected them to be crap. So that's my bad, and something I need to rectify by sharing it with you. They have good music, go listen to some!

Peace.

Year 2, Day 82

Hi. Today I give you Bleed American by Jimmy Eat World.

This is another band from my past, that has reappeared on my ipod every time it crashed, so when this song played on my ipod I thought it would be a good choice for this blog. The video I'm showing you isn't the edited together version that you get on CD's, but a live performance. This way you can see how well they do in public. It's sounds pretty much the same as the album and that's something I love about them. No autotune shit here!

Peace.

Year 2, Day 81

Hello. So today's song is How Far We've Come by Matchbox Twenty.

I love this song so much. It's a really happy blast from the past. It reminds me of all the good times I had before my family started going crazy. I still remember the words to this song. It had been playing in a store that I was in and as soon as I recognized the song, I started belting it. I'm sure people thought I was weird, but I don't care. If it's good music you're singing, public displays of music (as I call them) should not only be tolerated, but should grow into a room full of people singing together...a flash mob of sorts. Anyway check out the song, it's awesome.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 80

Hey. So today's song is Too Close by Alex Clare.

Another incredible song. Every part of the song just works so well together, from the soulfulness of his voice to the dubstep in the middle. I normally hate noise like that, but for some reason I like it in this song. It adds that extra layer of awesome to make the song unexpected. When a song surprises you, it's a good thing. It helps me to remember that not everything is a remake of something else, and that mixing styles can be a good thing. So give this song a listen, and tell me what you think.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 79

Hey. Today's song is If I Didn't Know Better sung by Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio.

There's a new show just starting on tv called Nashville. I wasn't planning on watching it, but I somehow ended up stuck on it while flipping channels. It's pretty batshit crazy and I don't think I'm going to keep watching it, but this song was on right at the end and it was breathtaking. The first time listening to it, I was in awe. I stopped everything and just sat to watch and listen. It has a sound that is so under utilized in today's society because it's so quiet and slow, with all the emphasis on the feeling. Though, because no one sings like this, that makes it so much more mesmerizing listening to it. Seriously, you need to look at this one, it's unbelievable.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 78

Hi, so today's song is Lips Of An Angel by Hinder.

I love this song so much. I can't get over how beautiful it is. The best part is his voice. The type of voice he has really shouldn't be ale to work for a softer song like this, but I can't imagine it with anyone else singing it. The message is an intriguing one as well. I'm sure most people out there are with someone, but never quite got over their ex and this is what's going on with him. I'm not really in the predicament, but I still can appreciate the amount of emotion you hear in the song and how much it must mean to him, so give it a listen. You wont regret it.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 77

Sup. Today's song is I'm Shakin' by Jack White.

What an interesting sound. I like it! It's so different in the best way possible. I like that he's trying to bring the oldie look back. It's suave. The concept for this video is pretty cool too. I like the face off type of atmosphere with the two colors of bands. I've never seen that before in such a modestly epic gesture. Check it out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 76

Hey. Today's song is Here Comes My Man by The Gaslight Anthem.

Here's another great band that I didn't know about. I keep discovering more groups that I can just lose myself when I listen to them. I don't know if it's just that I'm more stressed than normal or that I'm just finding better music, but whatever it is, I hope it never stops. There are so many incredible songs out there in the world and I cannot find enough. I'm hoping that I'm helping you guys find awesome music like this, and hey, return the favor if you've got any.

Peace.

Sunday, October 14, 2012

Year 2, Day 75

Hello. Today I give you You Are Not by Young Guns.

Well for this band, the comments on the YouTube video say it all. This is an amazing band making incredible music in an age when lots of music is crap. It's rare to find vevo music that isn't another pop princess coming on the scene so it was quite a surprise to find these guys. Check them out if you're a fan of good music.

Peace.

Saturday, October 13, 2012

Year 2, Day 74

Hey, so today's song is The Reason by Hoobastank.

I haven't heard this song in so long, but I still love it. It's equal parts beautiful and tragic, which creates a unique feeling when listening to it. It continues to amaze me how I haven't heard this song in years, yet I can still sit here and sing along while writing this post. Some songs are just that moving that they stay with you forever. So I'm sharing this song with you, and hopefully you feel the same way about it that I do.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 73

Hi. Today's song is I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me by Fall Out Boy.

I really like Fall Out Boy, but they need to rethink they're song names. This one is so long! I guess it actually explains why they wrote this song though, so I'll let it slide. Most people know this song because it was in the movie Stick It. It's one of the songs from the movie that everyone remembers because it was used perfectly in the scene, in a way that made it set up the movie, but not be complete background noise to the point where you don't notice it. Fall Out Boy has always kind of been that band that people know, because of the strangeness of them, so if you don't know who they are, check them out. It's pretty interesting to see what they've done.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 72

Hey. So today the song is Taste It by Jake Bugg.

This dude I've seen advertised on Facebook a lot lately so I decided to check him out. Lucky I did, because his music is pretty cool. His voice is different than most you hear nowadays. It reminds me more of how singers in the 50's sounded. That's a good thing because it's bringing something I love to the present along with a great song. Give it a listen and tell me what you think.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 71

Sup. So today's song is Don't You Forget About Me by Simple Minds.

This is an epic song. Nothing has made such an impact on my life as much as this playing at the end of The Breakfast Club as far as music goes. It's the perfect mix of happy and sad, powerful and simple. The people working on that film made the perfect choice of song, although all those eighties movies were incredible. If you know this song, throw your fist in the air and remember the good times, and if you haven't heard it? Go watch The Breakfast Club right now.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 70

Hello! Today you get Outside Looking In by Jordan Pruitt.

Here's another song from my past. It's weird when you can't remember the song title or the artist, but as soon as it starts playing you can sing the whole thing. The mind is an amazing specimen to be able to hold on to that for so long, just having the tune sit dormant for six years. Crazy. This is a great song. I think I remembered it because this used to be like my anthem. I felt like I was alone most of the time. I know how whiny that must sound, but it's the truth. Today I'm alone again, but I'm strong enough to realize that I really don't need anyone else.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 69

Hey. So today's song is Reach by Caleigh Peters.

This brings me back to my tween years. Oh nostalgia. I still remember some of the words too, which is awesome. This song is a reminder of when Disney channel didn't suck and actually cared about the message they gave kids, when it used to be about being a good person, not being the most popular and making money. Anyway, this song is really good so you should give it a listen.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 68

Hi. Today's song is Beautiful Day by U2.

I think it's gotten to the point now that everyone knows this song so I don't have to explain why you should listen to it. I know I typically find you guys new songs, but I needed something familiar today, so that's what you get too.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 67

Hey. So today's song is Drinking Games Library Voices.

These guys are incredible. The amount of parts for the singers is beautiful, they mesh so well together. I don't think there is any category I could fit them into to describe the sound, it's just so unique. I figured from the name of the band that it would be heavily vocalized and I was right, but they don't do it in an overbearing way. Layering the voices on top of one another, especially in the chorus, is genius. You have to listen to this band, it's one of the best finds so far this year.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 66

Hello. Today I give you Seven Seas Blues by Monster Truck.

These guys are also coming to play The Gateway. They're pretty awesome in my opinion. Definitely the kind of band I would want to go see live. It's the perfect head banging song, where you can lose yourself in the music. I can't wait to see where this band goes in the future... Check them out. It's wicked.

Peace.

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Year 2, Day 65

Hi. So today's song is Honeybee by Wool On Wolves.

Here we have another band on the roster to play at The Gateway. See why I always want to go there? Such good music to rock to. I love the feel of this song, it just feels so happy and carefree. At least to me, I might sound stupid though...whatever. The video to go along with this is so cute too. It's the perfect song for a chill day like I'm trying to have. I can't wait until I have the chance to see these guys perform live. It will be awesome! Give them a listen, you wont regret it.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 64

Sup. Today's song is Paper Girl by July Talk.

These guys are cool. I saw them play live when I went to the Arkell's show and they made a good impression. They dealt with a tough crowd who wasn't really paying attention so well. By the end of their set most people were rocking out. My friend wasn't one of them unfortunately, she just kept whining about wanting to go home. I ignored her. She doesn't know good music, and this is good music. Just listen to the song! July Talk is bringing two incredibly different voices together and it works, not to mention the band members are creating such a cool atmosphere. They keep it up in the music video too. Also before I sign off for the day can I point out this is another Canadian band...I just wanted to put that out there.

Peace.

Tuesday, October 2, 2012

Year 2, Day 63

Hellur. So today I give you The Archers.

I warn you now that this is more Canadians being awesome. Behold, a band full of teenagers from British Columbia. Sorry that I don't have a song name for you, the video doesn't say what it is. Even so, the song is fantastic. They definitely have musical talent and the harmonizing just makes me melt. I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again: these are the kinds of musicians that should be famous. It should be the people that understand the art behind what they're doing and like to have fun while doing it. I think these guys will make it. So, check them out and spread the word.

Peace.

Monday, October 1, 2012

Year 2, Day 62

Hey, so today's song is Black Jack by Indigo Joseph.

This band has a different type of sound than the other ones I've shown you, but in a good way. They wrote the song in a way that all the instruments were showcased at different times, so you get the full effect of the music. He isn't really singing, but other bands have made it big by doing something unique on this front so you should check them out.

Peace.
