Hi. So today's song is You Girl by Jarek Hardy.
So fun fact: this guy is in the band from yesterday. Strange huh? Well I think this is so much better, very mellow and cute. It's a sweet song and the guitar in it is perfect, plus he has an amazing voice. I figured he was just a guitarist, but damn. When guys can sing, they should always flaunt it. Always. Anyway check this out and tell me what you think of it.
Peace.

Day 342
Hello. So today I give you Gone For A Long Time by The Johnstones.
So this is just a classic feel good song. It reminds me of warm days driving around with your friends. Although, there is a lot more skin showing in this video than ever has from one of my summer activities...it's slightly disturbing. At the same time you can't look away, which is what they wanted. The sound of the song is a little more rough cut than I usually like, but I swear I feel like I've heard it before a long long time ago. So it gets a spot on the blog. Enjoy!
Peace.

Day 341
Yo. So today's song is The Dance Routine by The Midnight Beast.
I curse Anna for ever showing me these guys, because now I constantly have one of their songs in my head. Do you know what it's like to wake up and hear "she must be a lesbian" in your head? It's ridiculous. So this is like the British version of The Lonely Island and as soon as one of their videos starts playing, you get sucked in. It is actually taking me so long to write this right now because I keep losing focus of writing about them to watch them. They are hilarious and addicting. You have been warned.
Peace.

Day 340
Hello. So today's song is Rest Of My Life by Sloan.
This is another song that Anna showed me. Now there's a lot of things that I could say to make fun of the video, but I'm not going to do that. Sometimes when a song is as amazing as this, you can't put anything connected to it down. If anything, this song makes the video better. You know, I have a cardboard guitar from grade six when my friends and I pretended to be a band. It was so awesome. This just brings back those memories. For that, i say Sloan is my music for today.
Peace.

Day 339
Good Day! Today I have for you Call Me by Shinedown.
This song I got from Will. It's the type of song that I never thought I'd hear him listening to, but it was playing in his car, on his CD. I love it. The piano in this song is just so beautiful, and paired with the voice is amazing. When I told Anna that I found today's song from Shinedown, she seemed skeptical. Oh well, music is always good when it's surprising. I love that music can change someone's mood, or bring people together. Like, if you told me that today I would be sitting in my sister's boyfriend's car singing along with him to a Kelly Clarkson remake? I would probably hit you, but it happened. So check this song out, you may be surprised at what you hear and who else likes it.
Peace.

Day 338
Hey. So today's song is Got To Lose by Hollerado.
So you have Anna to thank for this song. She discovered these guys when they played at the Stampede and insisted I'd like them. She was right. First of all, they start out with the best harmonizing possible. I was suspicious until that started. They have a kind of mellow sound while still being rockish. It's an intriguing mix. There are people out there who hate this video, but I think it's pretty cool. It's simple and easy to follow. I can't help but be reminded of singing in the rain just a little bit with the umbrellas. Anyway it's just a really interesting song so you should check it out.
Peace.

Day 337
Hello. So today's song is Queen Of Disaster by Colorsound.
So I wrote the name of this band down, but I have no idea when or how I knew their name. What I do know, is that I wrote it down so I would see if I liked their music enough to show it to you. Obviously, the answer is yes. I was hooked as soon as I heard the start of this song. The techno sound is just so cool. And when the instruments come in they match perfectly. The part where the voice comes in pleasantly surprised me. I didn't expect the tune that the singer did to be matched with the instrumental, but it works. And bonus, this song actually helped me to work on my math notes. So check it out.
Peace.

Day 336
Hi. So today's song is Written In The Stars by Tinie Tempah ft. Eric Turner.
I have a question: Exactly when did it become a thing that people say their names in their music. In this song it's not as obvious, but Tinie does at one point say Eric's name. And Jason Derulo? He does it every song. I find this a little strange...oh well I guess you can never forget who sings it that way right? So, I don't like rap. I never have, but when they mix it with singing like in this song it seems okay. I don't know why this song is okay with me where a 50 cent song wouldn't be. Maybe I'm just weird. Anyway, check it out.
Peace.

Day 335
Hey everybody. Today's song is You And Me by Lifehouse.
I seriously do not know anyone who is unaware that this song exists. If there is any song that will last for generations and still be heard through all the fads, it's this one. I can't even explain to you how amazing the song is. His voice is like silky love on a summer night. It's just so beautiful that you get sucked into it. Everyone can relate to this song, and feel something because of this song. I don't know anyone who hates it. Give it a listen.
Peace.

Day 334
Hi. So today's song is In Step by Frankmusik.
So this video is kinda cool, but at the same time really creeptastic. I assure you I'm not a creep, the hula hooping is just really cool. She could use some pants...I tried to give this singer a chance to find a song I really liked. I settled on this one. He's a little too autotuned for me, but I'm going to try and let him grow on me. One song had a video that was like a lame remake of grease, which I was not impressed with. So I kept searching. In the video it looks like he's the one filming. I wonder if that's the case. Anyway check it out.
Peace.

Day 333
Hello. So today I give you Black Velvet by Alannah Myles.
This song is older than both me and my sister. It's twenty one years old. Even so, it's still a song that lots of people know. It's a classic. I don't know if any of you actually see the commercials for Canadian shows, but there is a new TV show called Cover Me Canada that we're doing. All different artists cover the same song and the audience picks the best one, I think. I haven't watched it so I don't know for sure. But one of the commercials has everyone doing this song. Honestly nothing will top the original, but some of those guys were awesome. So listen to this song and if you can, check out that show.
Peace.

Day 332
Hey guys. Today's song is Like A Star by Corinne Bailey Rae.
So when I first came across this song on YouTube, I wasn't sure what it was. It wasn't until the chorus that I realized I'd heard it everywhere. It is a classic romance song that they put in almost every chick flick ever. It is really perfect for that though. I mean the mood it creates screams romance. That's a really hard thing to accomplish, but it has been done here, so check it out.
Peace.

Day 331
Hi Guys. So today I give you Barcelona by The Plastiscines.
So I just found these guys on YouTube. Yay for a french band!! I like all girl bands, they help to shove it in everyone else's face that girls can do anything. And the fact that they're style is showing them as "yes I'm in a band, but I'm still a girly girl" is pretty damn awesome. Although they seem to be trying to bring the 60', 70's and 80's back. Though they're fans don't seem to care. Read some of the comments on the video. If there is anything I admire, it's loyalty of your listeners, so congrats guys, you have it.
Peace.

Day 330
Hello. So today's song is Fluorescent Adolescent by Arctic Monkeys.
Yet another video that just confuses the crap out of me. What does a mafia vs. clowns war have to do with this song. I can't figure it out, but it is very captivating to watch...considering that this is the second time I'm watching it. This video just reminds me of my dad, as sad as that sounds. A long time ago when I was just a little kid, he took my sister and I trick or treating. He was dressed as a clown. So when some teenagers started reeking havoc on the street we were on, my dad chased them while waving his arms and just being all around creepy. You should have seen how fast they ran away. So hilarious. Anyway, check out the song and if a clown chases you on Halloween? Well, I'd book it too.
Peace.

Day 329
Hey. Today I give you A-Punk by Vampire Weekend.
How have I not shown you this song yet. Man, I suck currently. Anywho, this is Vampire Weekend, who are pretty awesome, but also completely insane as you can see from the video. I was shown this song by my friends last year and it was one of our summer songs. But now I just watched the video. I normally let the song play while I write, but I had to watch it three times because I was so confused and intrigued by what they're doing on screen. My final conclusion to this: the song rocks and I want fishy gloves.
Peace.

Day 328
Hi. So today's song is Something Good Can Work by Two Door Cinema.
So this is a new band for me. Just found them on YouTube. I really don't know what we would do in this generation without that website, we'd all probably run around like chickens with our heads cut off. Anyway, this song. It's really sweet sounding. The type of music you play in summer when you hang with your friends, or in a summer montage you see in movies. This video is so simple. I love it. Just the changing color of the background. It helps to make you actually focus on the band instead of some random story on screen. Well I don't really know what else to say so enjoy!
Peace.

Day 327
Hey. So today's song is Bless Myself by Lucy Hale.
So this song is from the same movie as yesterday. The title is A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song. Because they haven't made enough Cinderella remakes already. I actually like this movie though. The Cinderella adaptions always feel like they come and go without any real climax and rising to the challenge. I don't know, maybe it's because I'm older, oh well. I like Lucy Hale. She is actually my favorite actress, and she's an incredible singer. She should have won American Juniors. Anyway, check out the song, it's pretty wicked.
Peace.

Day 326
Hello. Today you get Knockin' by Freddie Stroma.
So this is a song from a movie, but dude, he is amazing! 1. He's really hot. 2. He's British. 3. He plays guitar. 4. He sings so well. I have watched this so many times today. I just gush, it's not a pretty site. See, I always go gaga for cute musicians. It's a problem. But it's one I can't do anything about so I will just enjoy it. Look at him. Listen to him! I have no words. The second verse especially makes me just melt. Just listen, he's so great. I also just want to say props to the person who put the comment on the video about Harry Potter. It's a most liked, go read it.
Peace.

Day 325
Hi. So today's song is Am I The Only One by Dierks Bentley.
This is a funny song. I especially like the excuses for his friends bailing. "Sorry dude, I quit drinking" because now I drink milk. Got Milk? And the dude taking a bubble bath. You sir, are awesome. Now I just noticed this, but he looks a little bit like Billy Currington. They have the same hair. Remember what I said yesterday about the difference of what country stars sing about, based on their gender? Case in point right here, he is singing about partying while drinking beer, and picking up a girl. I have some advice for this singer: if you're the only one who wants to have fun tonight, just stay home and hang out with your dog. He seems to love you standing right there while you're on your phone. Just saying.
Peace.

Day 324
Hey. So today's song is Giddy On Up by Laura Bell Bundy.
Oh country music. The thing about country music is it's not the instruments or the beat that makes it country, it's how the voice sounds. Some people just have a country voice. I don't. Sometimes I wish I did because every true girl country singer seems so crazy and bad ass. Like this girl, she is ridicidonkey, but awesome. Country boys sing about beer and getting girls. Country girls sings about the jackasses they dated and how they told them off. One reason why I like to listen to country. Also, line dancing. Check it out.
Peace.

Day 323
Hi. Today's song is Back That Thing Up by Justin Moore.
Okay I am only putting this song up so I can rant about how disturbing and insulting this video is. Seriously, if I ever had the chance, I would probably punch this guy. Real farm girls do not need a mask of makeup. They do not wear the stupid "sexy cowgirl" outfits you find in a Halloween shop. I'm not saying they don't wear sexy outfits, but do you even know why they wear jeans and cowboy boots? There is a reason for it other than fitting the stereotype! I live in Alberta, that's cow county. Granted I don't live on a farm, but I know a hell of a lot more about it than he apparently does. Now I know that having those girls like that is to make people more interested in the video, but it really just makes me want to beat the crap out of him. And for your information, Justin Moore: undoing some buttons on your shirt does not make you cool. Just saying.
Peace.

Day 322
Sup. So today I give you People Are Crazy by Billy Currington.
This was a recommendation from YouTube, but I already knew this song. Although I didn't recognize it until the chorus. It's one of those songs that if you don't know the chorus, you don't know the song. I like the story in it, about the old man. It just goes to show what can happen from a conversation. People are generally good, if you give them the chance to be. They are crazy, but in the right way. This song just makes me smile. The thing is it's not like the instrumental is amazing, or the lyrics are stellar; this song just makes you feel good. So listen to it.
Peace.

Day 321
Hey Guys. So today's song is If I Die Young by The Band Perry.
This is such a beautiful song. It's so simple, but the words speak volumes. There has been so many people my age in the obituaries. It's sad to see someone you went to school with having their funeral when we're just starting our lives. It's not right. I feel so sorry for people who have to bury their kids. I just hope that my family never has to do that for me. The lyrics for this song are sweet, but anything about death is blurred with sadness. "If I die young, bury me in satin. Lay me down on a bed of roses, sink me in the river at dawn. Send me away with the words of a love song."
Peace.

Day 320
Hey. So today's song is Die Of A Broken Heart by Carolyn Dawn Johnson.
This song makes me feel conflicted. I love it so much, it's really beautiful...but at the same time it's just so damn sad! I mean, just look at the lyrics, they are so sad. Yet, I still sing along to it every single time. I am not ashamed to say that there have been times when I was upset singing this song while crying in my room. It sounds so emo, but everyone has a time of complete breakdown. This song though, is part of lots of happy memories in my life too. It's sort of a dual purpose song depending on your mood. Listen, and tell me how you feel.
Peace.

Day 319
Hello. Today I have for you Lucy Got Lucky by Chris Cummings.
Alright, this is one of his older songs, but it was one of his greatest hits. I love it. My mom and I always used to sing along to it in the car. It was one of the things I remember best about growing up. Now, this video needs a lot of praise. The amount of 80's movies references in this video makes me so happy. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a John Hughes junkie. The man was a genius. So when pretty much every clip in the video is a reference to a scene in his movies, well it makes me love this song a hell of a lot more. So check it out. And if you've never heard of John Hughes please, please go look him up.
Peace.

Day 318
Hi. So today's song is Take Me To Your Heart by Michael Learns To Rock.
Okay guys, so I just found this song on YouTube. First off, I love songs where you can clearly hear the lyrics. When you can't understand them it's hard to feel anything deeply about the message of the song. This song is giving me the power ballad vibe full on. It's actually pretty epic. They're doing all the classic rock things like having a guitar solo, but it's such a mellow sound that makes you hardly notice the set up. Case in point, it's a beautiful song, and I am pleased to pass it on to you.
Peace.

Day 317
Hi. So today's song is Walkie Talkie Man by Steriogram.
This is a song that got me through high school. I swear it was on a loop for an entire year. I love it, but I had forgotten about it. The only reason I remembered is that the book I'm reading now mentioned this song. This guy talks so fast. I can't even follow him, it's so insane. Perhaps I kept it on a loop to figure out what he was saying. The video idea is cool too. This is from back when music videos actually had themes or ideas instead of just gyrating women. Either way it's worth watching the video and listening to the song.
Peace.

Day 316
Hey. So today I give you Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden.
So the video for this song creeps me out. I can't say anything about it other than it scares me just a little bit. As for the song though, it's amazing. I first heard it playing rock band, as funny as that is. My friends would always get mad at me when I did the vocals because I'd do the chorus an octave higher. That's a problem for me, I like how it sounds having another part up top. Oh well, I don't do it in public. So listen to the song, and if you feel like it, do what I do. See what you think.
Peace.

Day 315
Hello. Today's song is Bad Day by Daniel Powter.
This is an amazing song. When you really are having a bad day it makes you feel better. Honestly when you see in the movies girls after a bad break up eating ice cream and crying? This is what would be playing in the background. That's all you need when you feel like shit. A blanket, ice cream, tissues, and Daniel Powter. This video idea is genius too. I love it. I love how they set it up, showing both of them. Honestly, if I was an artist, I totally would draw on ads like they did. Anyway, check it out.
Peace.

Day 314
To start off this month I have something special. This is Put It On Paper by High Quill.
Believe it or not, but I actually went to school with these guys. I was in choir with the drummer and the lead singer, Jen. We were in different sections though so we didn't talk that much. The video I am showing you is from the folk festival in my city, but the quality kind of sucks. So, I shall also give you the link to their MySpace page, where you can find the same song and others with awesome quality. That would be here. I really hope you check these guys out. They're awesome musicians and more fans couldn't hurt.
Peace.
