Year 2, Day 184

Blast from my past! Here's Clumsy by Fergie.

I always secretly liked this song, but I've forgotten about it over the years. Then someone attached it to a video about a tv show I watch, and I remembered it. I haven't listened to this song in forever...until now. Everyone always reacts the same way. "Oh, it's Fergie? Her songs are shit." Well...yes most are ridiculous, but I still like them! There is something almost hypnotic about them that makes me continue to listen to them even if I wish I didn't. Damn you Fergie, messing with my taste.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 183

Hello! So today is Impossible by Carrie Fletcher.

This song used to be a different one, but as I've been going through fixing links I decided to change this because the old one was a couple whose relationship ended with a lot of bullshit happening, so I don't want to showcase that. I am leaving it with Carrie like it was before, but just a solo song for her. So Carrie is actually Tom's sister. You know, Tom from McFly who I showed you yesterday. She is crazy talented, has a YouTube channel and is pretty funny. I love the video of her taking over Tom's house. That's pretty much what I do when house sitting, including scaring the cats then chasing them trying to apologize. If you get a chance you should go watch it.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 182

Today you get Love Is Easy by McFly.

Awww the boys grew up! I love them all. I take back whatever awful things I said about Tom only being good at pop. I Can't believe how great they are doing!! Harry is hilarious, Dougie's laugh is the best and Tom is so cute with his pink ukulele. And Danny! I've always favored him, but to be honest I didn't recognize him at first. Not until he started singing. He changed his hair and he looks good, but it took me a minute. I always hated that no one in Canada knows them. I am making it my mission to get Canadians to love them. It will happen. Check them out if you haven't yet, they are a giant ball of adorableness.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 181

Hi. So today's song is Please Don't Say You Love Me by Gabrielle Aplin.

Time to make up for yesterday's awful song. This one is cute. She has a very unique voice, which add something to the song. I can't put my finger on it, so I can't explain it very well. Sorry about that. I love the message too in it. Things are always awkward when one person says the L word, and you can't respond. Now there is a song to explain it to them before they freak out at you. The video also adds to the cuteness of the whole thing. Check it out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 180

Never thought this would happen. Here's Scream & Shout by Will.i.am and Britney Spears.

This is so bad, but so catchy that no one cares it's bad! I think it's hilarious that they add in the Britney, Bitch thing. Every time I hear it, it makes me giggle. I sing this to Sammy all the time because she doesn't care about it's catchiness. She just knows it's terrible. I enjoy singing dumb stuff like this to people. It's a great friendship starter because they think I'm a lunatic, then I'm comfortable being myself around them. It also scares away people who can't handle my friendship. It helps to not waste months before seeing people's true colors. I once told Sammy that these two would never club together. I stand by that statement, they are barely ever together in this video. These two should not team up ever again. What do you think?

Peace.

Year 2, Day 179

Hello everyone! Today's song is Love Song by Sara Bareilles.

I showed you this girl last time, and I showed you a cover she did. Taylor, who is dumb, chastised me because she likes the original way more. Here's my response. Fine, bitch. Listen to her original song, now shut up. This is an amazing song, and everyone knows it, but has no idea who she is. Now you guys will know.Welcome to the Sara Bareilles world. She has such choral ability that I am jelly. It's so good!! I just want to bop around to it. So today I leave you with this, do with it what you will.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 178

Hi. So today's song is The Mess I Made by Parachute.

I have never heard of this band before, but from what I can tell, I just somehow managed to miss them. They're been around for awhile. I love them now though. The guy had me hooked from the first line. After that first line I fangirled. I was all "You. Your Voice. Yes, you should have kissed me there. Wow." That sounds weird, but we've already covered that I am insane beyond repair. It's a great song! The lyrics, the instrumental, the vibe, the message; it's all fantastic. Listen to it, you'll see.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 177

Hey. So today's song is Comes And Goes by Greg Laswell.

This song is a bit more down than the last one, but I love it. It fits my mood today. This song is simple, it's him and his voice, and a guitar. Slowly more instruments and voices get added in, but it starts out so raw. I like the raw sound. As it builds it makes my emotions peak. I might just be really emotional today, but I feel like he knows me. Anyway, you should really listen to this song. The lyrics are so powerful.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 176

Hello. So today's song is Kiss Goodnight by Tyler Shaw.

Canadian! I spot a Canadian! This dude is from British Columbia, and won a Much Music contest. Apparently they still do music, who knew? Well, kind of. Anyway, he won so he is now famous and came out with his own song. I heard it in an ad from Vevo and loved that little piece, so I went to find it and share it with you. I don't know why I like it so much, but I'm not going to argue it. You should give it a listen. Maybe you can pick out what draws me to it.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 175

This is unorthodox. Here's Why Don't You Do Right by Jessica Rabbit.

I never found many people who knew who Jessica Rabbit was. It didn't seem to be mainstream Disney. The Roger Rabbit movie was on TV a few months ago, and I stopped everything I was doing to sit down and watch it. I always loved it when I was a kid. I don't know why, thinking about it now I must have scared my parents. This isn't really right for children, although children don't know that. My whole life I always wanted hair like Jessica Rabbit. Look at it! It doesn't ever move badly, and it's so voluminous. I never really told my friends about my hair envy, but it's always been evident in the way I have my bangs. They sit how hers do, with only one eye showing. Oh Jessica Rabbit, why can't every girl have hair like you?

Peace.

Year 2, Day 174

Hey! So today's song is Good Day by Luce.

This song makes me feel so happy. Perfect road trip song. I know it from a movie soundtrack, and I have to say that whoever chose to put it in the movie was brilliant. It sets up scenes perfectly. No one is as brilliant though as the band who created this masterpiece. It looks like there is no music video, so all you have to focus on is the song. I'm sure you'll like it though so check it out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 173

Hi. Today is another cover. Here's Pumped Up Kicks covered by Corey Gray and Jake Coco.

I'm sorry for all the covers, but people on YouTube are so talented! Like these two. Corey's voice gives me shivers, I can't help it. I'm a sucker for musicians, this is not a secret. I didn't know who Jake was before this, but his harmonizing is so good!! I learned it, and I sing along in the harmony. I can't wait to listen to the original with someone so I can switch to this harmony and confuse them. I always like singing the harmony. I do it all the time, like in the song Africa or when I listen to Evanescence. It sounds cool when people split, as long as it doesn't screw up the other person's part. Really popular songs are good to do, because most people know the melody without thinking about it. Anyway, take a look at what these guys can do.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 172

Hey. So today is a little different. I give you a Bruno Mars Medley by Victoria Justice and Max Schneider.

Obviously this is not the original. I do love Bruno Mars, and he is awesome at what he does with every song. I like this because it's got parts for many incredible songs that fit together in a great way. This one you need to watch the video. The whole thing. It's all done in one take, one continuous stream with only three people. I have watched enough times that I know how they do it, but you should see the mastery of it all. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 171

This is amazing. Today you get Transcendence by Lindsey Stirling.

I decided to find study music, and got really wrapped up in Lindsey's stuff. It's great to listen to while you're working, but I had a hard time not watching the videos, because of what she does. She is a dancing violinist, if you didn't know. This is her song, and one of my favorites. I like the video of her performing this live, but the music video has better sound quality, so I opted for that. If you're up to it you should go watch the live video to get a real handle on what she does. I could go on for hours about all the reason I like this, but they all come from the same point: it's just good. Please give it a chance.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 170

Hello. So today's song is Paradise by Coldplay.

This is such a beautiful song. The PianoGuys did a version of this with an African twist and I love that one, but it's hard to compare them. They both are amazing in different ways. I figured I'd show you the original though, since I already had the other guys up here once. I don't understand the elephant thing...was it a gimmick? Or does it have some underlying meaning or significance? I don't know. Either way I still feel emotion when the elephant finds her pack. I'd like to point out that the driver was smart. Never pick up a hitchhiker in an elephant costume. I know I should say to never pick up a hitchhiker, but I was one once and needed that ride. Just be careful. And listen to the song.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 169

What's Up! So today's song is Trailer For Rent by Pistol Annies.

Now we forget the crossover style of music. Here is straight up country music, no Taylor Swift crap. Although note that the singer from yesterday was a member of this group. I love that in country music is got so many strong women singing their woes, but also about how they fixed them. They don't wine, they say that this is shit and they wouldn't put up with it. Growing up listening to country music was not strange in my town. We're in Calgary, everyone in the world thinks we're cowboys anyway, but most people let go of that country music and never look back. They continue to grow insecure and lose their backbone. Sure, I may get mad and do things that most people would put me in a looney bin for, but I still have my edge. I'm stronger because of it. This song is an example of the strong women I'm talking about. Check it out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 168

Hi. So today's song is Only Prettier by Miranda Lambert.

Bringing a little bit of country to the party. Literally. It's kind of a crossover between country and a little bit of rock, which makes for an interesting combination. I love the lyrics. She looks so sweet and innocent and then is singing about how awesome she is. She is singing about being together, throwing hate and differences out the door, but still saying she's great. "I'm just like you, only prettier." Wow. Check it out.

Peace.

Monday, January 14, 2013

Year 2, Day 167

Hello. So today's song is Daughters by John Mayer.

I assume everyone knows who John Mayer is. It's kind of hard not to. His voice is crazy good, and I can't get enough of it. I'm not a fan girl in the slightest though, so you will not see me at a concert of his screaming my head off while holding a sign that says "marry me." I refuse to be that crazy in public. This song is extra special because it has such a good story. He's telling everyone to be good to everyone, and that's what we need. Less violence, more love. Love starts in the home too. If you raise them right, they will make a difference.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 166

Hey everyone, so today I give you Better Way by Ben Harper.

This is a really cool song. I was immediately drawn to it because of the harmonies. The harmonizing starts right away and just continues to be perfect throughout the song. The song has a great message too. Plus he has mad skills! Watching him play guitar the same way you would play a piano is so cool. Most people don't know how to do that. Although he loses points for burning perfectly good guitars. There should be no guitar death, I'm against that. All in all though it's a good song, so you should give it a listen.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 165

Yo! Today's song is Look At Me Now by Chris Brown.

I blame Hunter for this. She got it stuck in my head, and I could not get rid of it for the life of me. When I finally managed to get a new song in my head, I got the picture of the girl in the tub with mock lyrics sent to me. I stared at that picture for an hour trying to figure out why it was so funny. Then it clicked, and now I'm stuck with this song again! Although now I'm making the most of it. I can do all the rapping, except for Busta. His will take me awhile to get down, but I can do all the other stuff. I always screw it up in front of people, but when I'm at home, I'm pretty good. You should check out the song, if only to hear Busta. He is the king.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 164

Hi. So today's song is Cupid's Chokehold/ Breakfast In America by Gym Class Heroes.

Interesting name for a song...I've been thinking a lot about cupid lately, only because my birthday is soon. A.k.a. right after Valentine's Day. Everyone is always crazy around that time, all like "OMG I'm in love!!" This song sums up those relationships pretty perfectly. Thinking they are in love, that they'll be together forever...and then they break up. Then everyone's sad until they find a new mate to latch onto. Ridiculous. I think I'm pretty smart because I've never had to deal with that shit. Though if I ever end up like that, someone must knock some sense into me. I need to say a couple of things about this video. First, that little kid angel has awesome dance moves, and second I laugh every time you see his friends duck in the house. Watch and you'll see what I mean.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 163

Hey. So today's song is Cooler Than Me by Mike Posner.

It takes awhile for the song to start, so if you want to skip right to it, it's about a minute in. I feel like I've known this song forever! I never figured out who he was though, it was just always playing when I listened to the radio or hung out with friends. It's only when I was surfing for music that I rediscovered it. I thought it was kinda funny that when I found it, I managed to sing along. I definitely pretended to be cool, dancing around my basement wearing sunglasses and blasting the song. Everyone thinks they're cooler than me. They are right, but whatever. I sing this and then I can feel cool. Check it out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 162

Hey. So today's song is You Used To Hold Me by Calvin Harris.

People on YouTube are funny. Most of the comments are mockeries of what the lyrics are. It probably makes me a terrible person, but it makes it more interesting to listen to the song and sing the new lyrics to it. My favorite so far is "you used the whole meat, you used the whole meat, you used the whole meat, BEEF BEEF DINNER." Haha, yep. I am a terrible person. I do like the song though! I can't unhear the beef thing now though, so I guess I kind of ruined. Oh well, you guys should still check it out.

Peace.

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Year 2, Day 161

Yo. So today's song is Bassline Junkie by Dizzee Rascal.

This is here because I think it's hilarious. It's terrible, but I can't stop playing it. This song has a pretty good message though, saying no to drugs...but still. It's so weird! I love it though. I would definitely follow this dude around like the one guy is doing. I showed this to Carmen and well....she thought I was insane. I haven't shown anyone since then, but I wanted to put it up here because I find it so funny. So give it a listen and tell me what you think.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 160

Hi. Today's song is One Night Stand by Sam Gray.

I have become obsessed with this song. I can't stop listening to it. This song lifts my mood, from the guitar to the voice and just the vibe. I find myself bopping to it at my study carrel....good thing no one is here this early, but me. The video makes me giggle. I love the group dancing of all the random women. Though I must say, that wedding dress is really awesome. I would wear it. Maybe not to a bar...but still. The songs that have a moment where instruments drop out and clapping begins always are the best ones. I also am just a sucker for the clapping part. Check it out!

Peace.

Year 2, Day 159

Hello. So today's song is Trouble by The Wet Bandits & Cugini.

We're back to the kind of clubby mixes for this song. It barely has any views, which seems strange to me because it's actually pretty good. At the start I was a little skeptic, but it builds. It's a good mindless song to focus on when deleting everything else from your brain. It's a good song to bring for the end of the weekend. One last jam before we go back to work and school and more things lacking in fun.

Peace.

Saturday, January 5, 2013

Year 2, Day 158

Hey Guys. So today I give you Love Is Noise by The Verve.

This is such an interesting song. It's from a few years ago, and from what I gather the band has since disappeared from public eye. At least we can still appreciate the awesomeness that they were. The video is pretty cool too. It's simple, but epic. Same as the song. You should go listen and watch the video, I think it makes a really intriguing combination.

Peace.

Friday, January 4, 2013

Year 2, Day 157

Morning! So today's song is Linger by The Cranberries.

This is an old one. It actually came out the year I was born. Lucky for me I watch older movies, otherwise I would never have found this song. I like being able to prove I know and like music from different generations, because music should really be universal; something everyone can enjoy with each other. Sure I'm (almost) twenty, and this song is twenty years old, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate it for what it is. Music was generally better during this time period, so if there is a song you know and want to share, drop me a line.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 156

Hello. Today's song is One Headlight by The Wallflowers.

So this is another YouTube sidebar discovery, but like always it's a good one. I love this song. The vibes you get from it are just so calming, which is awesome for my shit week. I didn't know this, but apparently the singer is Bob Dylan's son? Crazy. I just thought he was a really good singer, but now you find out it's kind of in his blood. He did make it on his own merit though. There are a lot of legacy singers that can't say the same thing. Anyway, check this song out.

Peace.

Wednesday, January 2, 2013

Year 2, Day 155

Hey. So today's song is One Man Wrecking Machine by Guster.

I love this one! It's an incredible tune and is so under appreciated. i really enjoy having the chance to introduce you guys to music like this because it's so inspiring. I can't even explain how badly I want these guys to be discovered. It's lyrical and musical genius. Just listen to it. This one is a really good one. If you give it a chance, you will most likely love it.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 154

Happy New Year! To celebrate, here is What Are You Doing New Years Eve? by Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

These two are so cool. They seem like the best people to be friends with. I love when famous actors haven't had some big scandal in the tabloids, but are still memorable. I can't help but smile watching them play and smile at each other. It's a total YouTube style video. Zooey does this a lot for the hello giggles channel, so if you like this one, go see the others. I'd also like to point out that the two top comments make me laugh. One is a New Girl reference, so you should go watch that too. Just saying.

Peace.
