Day 313

Hey. So today I give you To Write Love On Her Arms by To Helio.

There is so much media now revolving around To Write Love On Her Arms, as an organization. It started out as a simple way to raise awareness, a little like how all the girls on Facebook freak people out with their statuses to raise awareness about breast cancer. I remember when I was in high school and I participated in TWLOHA Day. Almost every person I saw had love on their arm. It's a silent way to raise awareness, and silent protests, for lack of a better word, are the most effective. At least that's my opinion.

Peace.

Day 312

Hello. Today's song is All Of Yours by Making April.

Okay first impression: crazy emo music just by the first line. Second impression: They are super awesome for posing with ridiculously classical music instruments. This is actually a really cool song. It's one of those songs that's a soft power ballad, all about lost love and in the woe is me mood. I can dig it, sometimes you just need a little pity party, I've been there. That's the beauty of music. There is literally a song for every emotion, everything that you want to say to someone. I would so much rather a guy serenade me with a song about how he loves me than just say it. So much better. Anyway, check out the song, or save it for a pity day.

Peace.

Day 311

What Up! Today's song is Fallin' For You by Qwote.

Can I just say how awesome this song is?  Just how it begins is amazing. Starting with the piano that gets everyone interested, then adding the snaps that make you feel mellow. Adding these components at the beginning one at a time makes it easy to follow the beat. You can either get sucked into the rhythm of the snaps or the melody of the piano. Personally, I can pick up both but right now I'm swaying to the snaps. It just makes the song feel so soulful...if that makes sense. Anyway give it a listen.

Peace.

Day 310

Hi. Today I give you December Nights by Love She Wrote.

Okay, acoustic beginnings make me gush. When It's just the guitar and the voice, oooh when they do it right it gives me shivers. This is what I'm talking about, the classic music style that yesterday's song lacked. They start out soft and mellow, then move into the normal sound. It keeps you guessing throughout the song, wondering what they're going to do next as far as sound goes. Music like that makes you an active listener, it's not just white noise, but something you're paying attention to. Good music should be like that.

Peace.

Day 309

Hey. So today's song is What It Means To Love by The Real You.

So I was surfing YouTube again. It feels like cheating to continue to take music off my ipod. The point of this is to find new bands, with new music that I like. These guys are classified under that. I had no idea who these guys were, but this song is definitely not what I expected when I opened the video. Just the way it sounds, I didn't expect that. It has such a strong beginning, it doesn't take the usual music route of leading up to a climax at the chorus, but draws you in with the first seconds of the song. It's not easy to do, but they pulled it off. So check it out.

Peace.

Day 308

Hey everybody. Today's song is Where Are You Now by Honor Society.

I love when I watch a movie and it gets to the credits, but I don't feel like getting up and shutting it off so it just plays. Sometimes you find hidden gems of video clips or music in the credits that weren't in the movie. This is what happened to me today. I'm bunny sitting, so I didn't want to get up and freak the bunny out by trying to shut off the movie, since this bunny is chillin by my feet. That's when this song played, and I loved the lyrics as soon as I heard them. It's one of those songs that everyone can relate to even a little bit, and it really makes me want to go find everyone I ever knew and make up. So check out this song, it'll give you nostalgia.

Peace.

Day 307

Hello. Today I give you Good Times by Finger Eleven.

I'm surprised I haven't given you any Finger Eleven yet, it's not like me. Anyway, I love this song. I rarely feel like I'm allowed to listen to music like this, because of all my bubblegum power pop, but I like all genres. This song in particular I  listen to all the time. It's in my video game which makes playing it more epic, and I just want to sing along to this. The song is so versatile, with the scream singing, but also hitting those high notes. Just listen to it and see what you think.

Peace.

Day 306

Hi. So today's song is Clockwork by AutoPilot Off.

This song is so great. When it first started and I heard the beginning I was about to shut it off, but then the guy started singing. When it got to the chorus I was hooked. It's catchy, but not in the poppy way, it sucked me in the same way Hedley and Relient K did. I don't really know what I can say about this song, it explains itself, so give it a listen.

Peace.

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

Day 305

Heya. Today I want you to listen to Stare At The Sun by Thrice.

Yes, it's another song from my video game. It's not my fault that they chose good music for it. This is how you discover new music, so just try it. I like this song, his voice makes me want to listen to it more, but people seem to think his voice ruins the song? I don't get that, but whatever. Everyone has different taste, but don't blame him if you aren't diggin the song.

Peace.

Monday, August 22, 2011

Day 304

Hi, so today's song is Play It Loud by MxPx.

So this song is from my video game, but I also know it from the movie Raise Your Voice. I love this song, it just sounds cool. It has the heavy instruments of rock, but the singer actually carries a tune. As most of you already know, I like when people actually sing, not scream so this works perfectly for my music tastes. I hope you enjoy it, I know I do.

Peace.

Sunday, August 21, 2011

Day 303

Hello. Today you get Mas by Kinky.

Yet another song from my video game. If it hadn't played so much during the game, I never would have given it a chance, but it's grown on me as I play. It's good for snowboarding to, just the way it sounds makes the experience more enjoyable. So check the song out, I have renovations to go do.

Peace.

Saturday, August 20, 2011

Day 302

Hey, today's song is Like This by The X-Ecutioners.

As you can probably guess, this song is also from my SSX3 video game. It's awesome. I don't normally like music with scratching in it, but these guys do it in a way where it adds to the song, instead of taking away from it. It's a really hard thing to do, but since they pulled it off, I give them praise. So give it a listen.

Peace.

Friday, August 19, 2011

Day 301

Hi there. Today I give you Jerk It Out by Caesars.

So I finally pulled out my old PS2 and hooked it up to play my favorite game from it, SSX3. This is one of the songs from the game. It's such an awesome song, and definitely good to snowboard to, since the game is snowboarding. I feel pumped when I listen to this song. I need to be pumped, we're finally starting to get our renovations done. Flooring goes in tomorrow!! I'm excited. Anyway, check out the song.

Peace.

Day 300

Hi. So today I give you I Believe by Nikki Yanofsky.

Today I have for you a Canadian Artist! Woohoo! I love Canadian artists. So I think everyone knows this song. It was played constantly throughout the Vancouver Olympics. I could not go two hours without hearing it. Now I know that if you aren't from Canada I probably sound stuck up, like I think my country is better than all the others, but I don't. I'm just a happy citizen, and she is amazing. Just listen to her voice, it's beautiful.

Peace.

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

Day 299

Hiya. Today's song is Wavin' Flag by Young Artists For Haiti.

Now, I put a picture of K'naan because it's his song. I mean he wrote it, but no offense to him, I like this version better. Maybe because it shows how special a cause they have, or the fact the my Canadian pride is showing, but I love it. It's been stuck in my head for days. There was another song done for Haiti with all kinds of artists, but I'm a Canadian and stand proud for Canadian artists sticking together. Anyway check it out, I guarantee you'll play it twice.

Peace.

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Day 298

Hi. Today I give you Quit Your Job by Jamie Foxx.

The song title is very important because today I gave my notice at work. No more Tim Horton's for me! After Sunday I am a free woman, and it's about time because that job sucks. People are so dumb. Anyway, I wanted to celebrate it and what better way than with a little Jamie Foxx, am I right? Now the job hunting starts for a job better than the last one. Wish me luck.

Peace.

Monday, August 15, 2011

Day 297

Hey. So today's song is Right Back Where We Started From by Maxine Nightengale.

I can't believe it took this long to put her up. I love this song, always have. Every time I here the beginning it instantly puts me in a better mood which is something I really need on a day like today. This is the only thing that makes me wish I was in the disco era, with the huge hair and crazy outfits. Although those outfits still exist if the hospitality rally I went to for work is anything to go by. Anyway I hope you like it.

Peace.

Sunday, August 14, 2011

Day 296

Hey Hey Hey. Today's song is Dance With Me by The Media Says.

So I just found this song on YouTube. It was in my recommendations so I thought I'd take a look at it because the recommendations are pretty good. At first I thought I might have shown you this band already, but I'm pretty sure I haven't. It definitely fits into the bubblegum power pop genre, but one thing that's unique that I like are the little bell type sounds at the end. Those make me really happy. So check it out, tell me what you think.

Peace.

Saturday, August 13, 2011

Day 295

How's it going? Today I give you The Middle by Jimmy Eat World.

This song is great. Always has been really, it's very under appreciated. As for the video, it is possibly the strangest way for them to cover feeling left out. If I was at that party, I'd be really confused as to why they think I'm weird for actually wearing clothes. Anyway, this is an amazing song, so you should give it a listen.

Peace.

Friday, August 12, 2011

Day 294

Hey. Today's song is Secrets by One Republic.

This is simply an amazing song. The way it starts, with the cello is beautiful. Adding string music adds a whole new level to music. At least that's what I think. I've never been one to be interested in classical music, but when the mood strikes, it really is indescribable in the best way. This song does a good job of bringing today's music together with something classical, and it has a cool effect. Everything about this song is enjoyable, so check it out.

Peace.

Day 293

Hello. Today's song is Day After Day by Inward Eye.

Another song from Anna. She's trying to show me that screaming in music is good, but this is very hard to prove to someone like me. In this song though, I can put up with it for a couple of reasons. One: it's in the background. Two: the lead singer is still, well, singing. Three: It's slightly harmonious, not just straight screeching. Four: it's pretty quiet. So there you go. That's why I tolerate it, and really this song isn't too bad. I like it. Hopefully you will too.

Peace.

Day 292

Hey. So today I give you Somebody Fix Me by Grace Potter.

Here is yet another recommendation from Anna. This came up because she was sifting through videos from Jazz Night at my school, and found some of the songs weren't jazz, but blues. So that brought her to show me this. I love this type of music, it just feels awesome. Really any song that has stops and goes in the instrumental, and songs you can hear soul in, I like. This song gets bonus points because she hits the sweet note. That perfect note that just makes you sound epic. You'll find it, if you listen.

Peace.

Day 291

Hi. Today's song is Be Ok by Ingrid Michaelson.

So this song is awesome. Sure, it can be repetitive, but come on, everything is nowadays. I like this song because her voice is so unique and it's so simple. It isn't overproduced like most songs made at the same time. I also like that she looks different than other singers. She actually looks normal, like someone I would go to school with, and I think that's really cool. This video kind of frightens me though. The idea of being lifted into the air and hoping no one drops you is not fun for me, but the song is still great.

Peace.

Day 290

Hi. So today you get Not Good Enough For Truth and Cliche by Escape The Fate.

This song has been stuck in my head for days. The chorus is just so damn catchy! It's a great song though so it's alright. This guy's voice is so strange, I've never heard one that sounds like this. Every time he sings Juliet I can't get over the sour note at the end. It sounds awesome, but so weird at the same time. So this song has one section that's screamo music, which I don't like. But the rest of the song is so good I put up with it. Anyway check it out, it's cool.

Peace.

Sunday, August 7, 2011

Day 289

Hey. So today's song is Wake Up by Story Of The Year.

Lot's of people think I don't like this kind of music. The music with hard rocking out on the instruments and no autotuning, but I do as long as the singer actually sings. Screamo music is not my thing. As long as the frontman is carrying a tune of some kind, I'm happy. Which is why this song is good, I like the whole thing honestly. The way the pieces of the song fit together just make it enjoyable to listen to. So do it.

Peace.

Saturday, August 6, 2011

Day 288

Hello everyone. Today I give you Rescue Me by Hawthorne Heights.

I love music like this. Where it's starts off instrumental, but you can still slightly hear what it'll sound like when the singer comes in, then when he does start singing, the way his voice sounds? It's hard to explain how much I love odd inflections in voices, or when he moves to a note I didn't expect. It just gives music a cool feel when they use crunching notes. Listen and you should be able to pick some out.

Peace.

Friday, August 5, 2011

Day 287

Hi. So today I give you Existentialism On Prom Night by Straylight Run.

This is just a really mellow song, but it's not about nothing. I love songs that can be either just music, or telling you something. In this song, it's showing existentialism, which I think is a pretty cool thing. It's in the lyrics and all the different people in the video. It all helps to create the image. Not to mention it's just a really beautiful song. Check it out.

Peace.

Thursday, August 4, 2011

Day 286

Hey. So today's song is I'll Follow You Into The Dark by Death Cab For Cutie.

There is no replacing the original of this song, it's just too beautiful, but I do want to show you a cover that girls from my choir did. They did a good job, and it will never be better than the original, but I like their's too. The link to it is right here.  As for the original, there's nothing really I can say about it. It explains itself when you listen, so make sure you do.

Peace.

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

Day 285

Yo. So today I give you Anti-Matter by NERD.

When I hung out with Anna yesterday, she played her ipod in my car. This song just happened to come on. It's very strange driving your car with all the passengers knowing the song playing and you don't. I don't like not knowing music, so I went and found this song myself. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet, but tell me what you think.

Peace.

Tuesday, August 2, 2011

Day 284

Hello. Today's song is Tomorrow from Annie.

The last few days I've been volunteering at a casino with an organization I used to be in. I went to The Forum For Young Albertans in grade ten and it was really fun. So when they asked if I wanted to come help out, I accepted. One of the guys decided that he was going to sing to us at two in the morning and this is what he sang. So I thought I'd share it.

Peace.

Monday, August 1, 2011

Day 283

Hey. So today I give you Nevermind by Soapbox Melodics.

This is the same girl from that a capella version of I'm On A Boat. If you haven't seen it, just go search it on you tube. I love her voice. Most people don't have voices like this anymore, and how low her range goes is wicked. I'd die if I tried hitting the notes she can, or doing the voice runs in the song. I just love the feel of this song, it's so mellow, from the beat, to the voice. I thought it was also cool how they did the video to match the feel of her voice. Epic.

Peace.
