Hey guys. So today's song is The Light Is You by Said The Whale.
Said The Whale is one of the bands who found me. They followed me on Twitter which was weird, but I checked out their stuff and it was awesome so I saved it. They're from Vancouver, which is only a province over from where I am which is pretty cool for me. This is just a short little tune of theirs so check out some of their other music. This is a little short blog today for me too since I've been summoned to help my sister again. So enjoy the song and check the band out on Facebook, Twitter and their website.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 128
Hiya. So today's song is Let's Dance To Joy Division by The Wombats.
I'm so glad this band embraces their namesake. That's why I decided to show this picture. So Sammy is back from Toronto now and has gone crazy about finishing renovations. Apparently having nine days of doing nothing except relaxing at a beach means she needs to accomplish eight hundred things every hour. So we've been finishing the flooring in the kitchen, and building furniture as well as going through the mass amount of stuff they own. I can't help but feel like she doesn't appreciate me being there to do all this manual labor on an apartment I'll never live in, but as a sibling if I'm only doing it for recognition then I really suck at being a person. So anyway that's why this song is so late, but it's amazing and I think you'll enjoy it!
Peace.

Year 3, Day 127
Hey. So today's song is Ce Jeu by YELLE.
Here's some french music for your viewing pleasure. So obviously they are a french band, but they have started traveling and have gotten asked about singing in English. The response is the best I've heard. "Yelle maintain that they would not be able to express themselves in a language that they were not familiar with." The only ones obsessed with music to be in their language are the English speakers like me. I may not feature a lot of music in other languages, but I have done so and I do listen to music that isn't in my language because music is international. Everyone understands music, no matter the language. I choir we were always singing in other languages: French, German, Spanish, African, Latin...even made up syllables to get the correct vowel. The language doesn't count for much, only how the music makes you feel. So tell me, how does this make you feel?
Peace.

Year 3, Day 126
Hello. So today's song is 5 Years Time by Noah and the Whale.
How well do you guys know your friends? Sometimes I find it a little eerie how well certain people in my life can read my personality and apply it to questions and conversations. There may be very few people who know me, but those who do know me seem to know me more than myself. I've put it to the test before, making a ridiculously hard "how well do you know me" quiz. No one got above 50% on it. It had all kinds of questions on it ranging from middle names to favorite quotes to the number of crushes I've ever had. I keep this quiz and pull it out once in awhile to see what's changed about me over time. This is kind of what the song is about too, about questioning how much life can change in five years time. Answer: a lot. This blog is an example of that. I may only be on the third year of blogging, but there were also two years in between. I barely even remember what it was like five years ago when I started this. I wasn't in a good place, and I've come full circle since then, but I have come so far still. Makes me wonder what another five years will be like...
Peace.

Year 3, Day 125
Hey everyone. So today I give you In The Summertime by Mungo Jerry.
I dare you to not tap your foot or finger while listening to this. It is so great! Yes it's an older one, but that makes it even better. These guys are just groovin' and having a grand ole time. I wish I could have time with my friends like this... us untalented people go driving around at night eating french fries and discussing life. If I could learn how to play the jug, I would definitely bring it along with me next time. And look at this: they are singing about women! Singing about what they want to do with this woman. Whereas today's songs want to take them home and do as they please, these guys want to take her fishing. What a difference 40 years makes! Anyway it's an awesome song so check it out.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 124
Hey. Today's song is Alright by Supergrass.
Let's have some happy music! For the rest of this month I'll be showing you music that I found one night on a playlist. I can't help but think that I showed you a song that had bits of this one mixed in, which is why I feel like I've heard this song before. Either way I still think it's great and super catchy, so what better song than this to show you? The fact that this song is about twenty years old and still makes me feel so good is amazing. It just goes to show that there is good music in every year if you look hard enough. Enjoy it!
Peace.

Year 3, Day 123
Hi. So today's song is Our Lips Are Sealed by the Go-Go's.
People suck. Someone hacked my twitter and sent links to everyone following me. Which is only thirteen people because I don't really use Twitter, but that is a moot point. For all the things I do online, I have never been hacked by someone I didn't know. So this is just a PSA for you guys to change your passwords and never use the same one for all accounts. Find something really hard and then don't tell anyone, like the song title says. The Go-Go's are an all girl rock band formed in 1978. Fun Fact: They were the first (and maybe still only) girl group who wrote all their songs and played their own instruments. Since being a group they've all split up and done their own thing, but none have been more successful than Belinda Carlisle. I'm sure I've mentioned her before, but if not I'll add her to my list. For now enjoy this old hit from the band.

Year 3, Day 122
Hello. So today's song is Perfect Day by Hoku.
Today is going to be my lazy day, and for me that is a perfect day. A day when you just hang out at home, not needing to worry about doing anything or seeing anyone and you just do whatever you want. Perhaps watch Legally Blonde. Admittedly I haven't done that, but I am watching Psych and that's good enough for me right now. This song is kind of perfect for the lazy day too because honestly on my lazy days I don't wake up until after noon (which is why I'm writing this now) and I don't do any work. I leave it for later. Days like today also can stay awesome if I refuse to let people tell me things I don't want to hear. So no email, no phone calls...nothing. See if you guys can do it too!
Peace.

Year 3, Day 121
Hi guys. So today's song is Steal My Sunshine by Len.
So here is a song that I have listened to since my childhood. I keep my iPod on shuffle, and since I haven't deleted any music from it ever, sometimes the old stuff comes up. More often than you would think since my iPod has crashed a few times and my iTunes consists of only the old CD's from my childhood and corrupt tracks of newer songs. I know this post is a little later in a day than usual for me. I blame Will for that. My sister is on a vacation with her friend right now, so Will is having a vacation of his own....a vacation from her. Couples need that. He has been hanging out with his friends that he hasn't seen in awhile, and his brother. They both showed up for our weekly breakfast and right after I followed them back to his place. We proceeded to play Mario Kart until about half an hour ago. I didn't expect to hang out that long, I was just there to check on the cat, but I guess they wanted a third. So I played with the cat, held the dragon, and helped unlock a bunch of new characters before my brain felt like it would explode and I had to go home. Despite not doing much I had a fun day, and this song gives me the same feeling. So enjoy it and I'll see you tomorrow.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 120
Hey everybody. Today's song is I Summon You by Spoon.
I swear this had to be in a movie when I first heard it, bit I can't for the life of me figure out which one. These guys are from Texas and a rock band who formed in 1993. So they are essentially as old as I am. Fun Fact: the name for the band actually comes from the hit song by a 1970's German band called Can. I think it's pretty cool when bands find inspiration and honor other bands in their work. So today I have been looking up how to use this program for a possible IT Administrator position. I never reallt thought of myself as someone who could be in IT, but might as well give it a go right!? Anyway, this is an awesome song and I think you guys will like it, so give it a listen and tell me what you think.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 119
Hey. Today's song is While I'm Alive by STRFKR.
Sorry about the rant yesterday, I was having a genuinely bad day. My dad was pulling more money shit on me. Anyway, I'm trying to turn a corner today and let it fizzle out, so I picked a song that is awesome with a music video that could be slightly unnerving to some people, but makes me giggle. It's the eye contact. It wouldn't be so weird if the guy looked elsewhere while doing body rolls. The bathtub one though!! When I was showing it to Sammy she was very uncomfortable...so naturally I let my eyes bore into her while doing body rolls on her couch. It was entertaining for me although undoubtedly annoying to her. Because of this video I now cannot listen to this song without doing that move...I hope it has a similar effect on you guys.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 118
Hi. So today's song is Scissors by Emery.
I'm beyond angry right now. Hence music that has screaming in it which you know is not like me at all. Give it some time, it's not all screaming though, and the guy is a good singer. I have come to terms with the fact he most famous people are in the public eye because we as a society put them on a pedestal and sometimes they can't handle the pressure and end up doing something or saying something that causes a huge ruckus. I get that okay, but we need to have a serious discussion about YouTube stars for a minute. There are many YouTubers that I know of and enjoy the content of, but we didn't necessarily put them there. They are the ones who have made videos before anyone knew who they were without anyone asking them to do it, and then they gained a following. Some have done great things with the power by pointing out that body shaming and prejudice of any kind is wrong while others fuel the fire of hatred. I'm not saying they have no right to feel the way they do, but using their viewpoint to make the people following them feel bad about themselves, because what is being said applies to them is the most ridiculous thing I have seen. A great point was made in a response video that I found. Most responses are saying how idiotic the first video was and to get their two cents in (I'm guilty of this myself) but in this video she explains why those things shouldn't have been said. This is only one example, but I hope you check it out.

Year 3, Day 117
Hey guys. So today's song is Collide by Howie Day.
If you have never heard this song before, I'm so sorry. I enjoyed this song so much when it first came out that it's now embedded into my brain. As soon as the music starts, all the lyrics come back to me. This video has the lyrics in the description in case you want to look at them. This song simply makes me happy, and has a some great lyrics. "Even the best fall down sometimes, even the wrong words seem to rhyme, out of the doubt that fills your mind, you finally find you and I collide." Beautiful. Give it a listen and I'll see you guys tomorrow.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 116
Hello. So today's song is Roll The Bones by Shakey Graves.
I gave you guys a live recording yesterday and after doing that I realized I have another live recording save4d to show you. So I figured this was as good a time as any. This dude's voice is ridiculous. Oh the growl. I normally am impartial to the growl, but he uses is flawlessly. I always loved that one could could create a recording like this, doing all the music. Sure you look a little strange, but playing the drum with one foot and a tambourine with the other takes coordination.... coordination that I don't have. This song has gotten a lot more popular than when I first found it, but it still deserves more air time. Check it out.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 115
Hey. Today's song is Crime by Real Estate.
So these guys are an indie rock band, originally from New Jersey, but they're based out of New York now. They formed in 2008, with some member changes in 2011 and have released three albums, one EP and a plethora of singles. This recording is a live performance, which shows how great of a band they are. It was recorded pretty recently too, on March 6 of this year. If you're curious why the drummer has t-shirts on his drums, it's because the shirts help muffle the sound and vibrations. It makes a huge difference on live recording so the drums aren't overtaking all the other instruments and vocals. Check out more of there stuff at their website and follow them on Twitter.

Year 3, Day 114
Hi. So today's song is We Used To Be Friends by the Dandy Warhols.
I am like the mass group of commentors on this song that know it from Veronica Mars. I think I mentioned awhile ago that there was a new Veronica Mars movie and I was absolutely stoked for it to happen! The series was epic, although my sister didn't agree, and the movie continued it with perfect synergy. I've gotten a lot of flack over my love of the character Dick Casablancas, but in the third season he had kind of redeemed himself and became loveable. I also just truly enjoy Ryan Hansen. Which is why I was so excited to find out that a web series is being created about the character. To make it even better, almost all the actors are coming back the reprise their roles...except Duncan Kane. The guy who played him is a lawyer now. Instead the character will be played by an actor who played a different character in the original Veronica Mars series. I'm curious how it will all play out. Anyway, enjoy the song.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 113
Morning! Today's song is Let Go For Tonight by Foxes.
Happy Friday to all of you. All little about this song: Foxes is the stage name for this girl from England. She's had vocals featured on other artist's tracks including a song from Zedd. This song in particular is from her own album released this year and is a top 20 track. I thought I'd share with you a song that's all about giving up what's going on in your life and just having fun. Usually everyone does that on the weekend, so I want you guys to enjoy it. I will try to do the same...the chances are slim, but listening to music like this helps the process. So whatever is holding you down right now, try and forget it for a few hours.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 112
Hi. So today's song is Hearts by Johnny Neon.
This is an extremely happy dog. Actually though, I don't think this is the real music video for this song, but it should be. Watching this dog's life through the camera on his back makes me feel happier. There's so much love, and food, and playing, and sunshine. His ears are perked up and he's just having a hell of a time. This is extremely important to me right now because I've been having a shitty day so far. Parental assholes, money problems, job hunting and panic attacks. I had to calm myself down fast, so I watched this video about six times in a row. This song obviously helps because it's upbeat and fun to listen to, but right now the video is why I wanted to show it to you. So watch it, listen to the song and enjoy the day.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 111
Hey. So today's song is Can We Talk? by Tevin Campbell.
This song came out the same year I was born, but can we just talk about how amazing of a song it is? He is one talented dude. I will admit that the only reason I know who he is can be blamed on Disney. He was the voice of Powerline in A Goofy Movie and I still stop and jam to those songs every time I hear them. Granted they are more upbeat and faster than Tevin's tracks, but what do you expect from a Disney movie. Tevin's songs have so much soul in them that I don't even mind that they're slow jams. I chose to show you this song because in 2012 Tevin did something incredible. He uploaded a video to YouTube of him singing this song. That may seem insignificant, but there aren't a lot of people in the industry who can (or would) do that with their own songs. He sounds just as good as he did on the original recording, if not better. So if this is the kind of music you enjoy, look up more of his stuff.
Peace.

That may seem insignificant, but there aren't a lot of people in the industry who can (or would) do that with their own songs. He sounds just as good as he did on the original recording, if not better. So if this is the kind of music you enjoy, look up more of his stuff.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 110
Hello. So today's song is Entertainment by Phoenix.
The beginning of this reminds me of an exorcise we always did in choir that freaked out people who were listening. So I was in high school, and essentially all levels of choir sound different because the gain more experience. My teacher always wanted us a a college choir level and to make us see the she would have us start off at a children's choir level. It sounded terrible and we were over exaggerating the 'e' sounds. The middle school choir which was better, but still terrible. Then high school which sounded alright, no more 'e' in it. Then we would hit college level and it was the only time we ever sounded ridiculously awesome and highly skilled. The fact we could go through this stages in a 30 second time frame made every bystander squirm because it was quite the shock. Just a little random fact for you there. I have no idea what is happening in this video. I tried to make sense of it, still don't know. Apparently though "this video is like watching a historical Korean drama and looking at modern Korea at the same time. Fucking Korean pride all the way!" I guess that makes sense. The song is called Entertainment so why not show clips of dramas that people would watch. I've never seen a Korean drama so I can tell you if these are legitimately from TV shows or if it's just something for a video, but either way I thought it was interesting. The video takes place in Korea, but the band is actually from Versailles in France. They've released five albums (this song being from the latest one) and despite the view count on this YouTube video, they actually have a huge following. Check them out on Facebook and their website.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 109
Hey guys. So today's song is Hunger and Thirst by Typhoon.
I've said it before and I think it applies for this song too...wear headphones!! Some things you just need the surround sound to get all the parts, and this group definitely has a lot of parts. Currently there are eleven people in this group, which consists of vocals, guitar, bass, drums, percussion, horns, trumpet, violin and the ukelele. In the past though they have also used the viola, cello, banjo, accordion, xylophone and the keyboard. They are originally from Salem, but live in Portland now, and are signed by labels in the States as well as Canada. They have pretty complicated arrangements that only people with music knowledge could really understand the complexity and thought which goes into it, but even without a musical understanding this is still absolutely beautiful to listen to. It makes me feel happy, and calm....which is helping since I found out the big news of today. All I'm going to say on it is O' Captain, My Captain because it hit me hard and I'm still processing, plus I don't need to blather on to you guys. If you know what those words mean, you know what I'm saying. Anyway, enjoy the music and I hope I'll see you tomorrow.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 108
Hi! Today's song is Make The Money by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
I'm not a big fan of rap because most of it is pretty repetitive and I get bored of it easily, but there are exceptions to everything. These guys are always putting out songs that are actually about something. Sure the ridiculous amount of fame came from thrift shop which was a strange song, but it was catchy and everyone loved it. Since then Macklemore had released songs about political and human rights issues, showing that he cares about things other than the fame he got. Also the fact that he started all this without a major record label should day something about the kind of music he creates. This song is a message about how he isn't in this business for the money and that it's something he has worked on for half his life. My favorite line about it is that "a true artist will be satisfied." It's something I believe to be true. The one comment on this video is right, he is on his way to rap immortality. Check it out.

Year 3, Day 107
Hey everybody! So today's song is Take A Walk by Passion Pit.
I am horrible at routines. I don't get it, I used to be so good at them! I have been in such a bad depressed state where I hate everything and don't want to do anything so I don't. Doing nothing though of course makes a person feel worse, so the depression gets worse. It's a vicious cycle. Right now though I am feeling surprisingly optimistic (probably because it's three in the morning) and have decided I am going to jolt myself out of my slump and do something with my life. I have been loafing around for long enough. The question is....how? This song makes me incredibly happy, so I thought I'd share it in hopes it puts you in a good mood too.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 106
Hiya. So today's song is Beast by Nico Vega.
This is not the voice I expected looking at her. It absolutely fits the song, but it was just shocking seeing it for the first time. I love how strong it is. It's meant to be a revolution song, and the video has a lot of symbolism for that. There is the blindfolded masses that the band is performing for, trying to get their attention to show the injustice. She goes around ripping the blindfolds off and shaking them to wake them up before finally the drums are put down and the colors fly. It's pretty great. Fun Fact: The band is actually named after a former member's mother. Her had left the band to start his acting career, and has actually done pretty well. You can check the band out more on Facebook, Twitter and their website.

Year 3, Day 105
What's up. Today's song is How You Like Me Now? by The Heavy.
So these guys are a British indie rock band from a town called Bath. I've actually heard a bit about Bath, one of the more interesting things being the painted pigs all over the place. That always made the town stick with me because in Calgary we (used to) have a bunch of cows painted and placed all over the city. I had wanted to go on a scavenger hunt to try and find all of them, but part of the beautifying of the city saw most of the cows disappear....why am I talking about cows? Sorry, back on track. This is song been featured in everything. I'm serious. The Vampire Diaries, Entourage, Community, Rookie Blue, White Collar, The Fighter, Horrible Bosses, The Change Up, This Means War, Ted, Borderlands 2 and a bunch of commercials. The fact that it's in so much stuff makes it incredible that I found this song by surfing YouTube and no where else. Weird right? Was there ever a song that you should have known from something, but found it somewhere else? Let me know!
Peace.

Year 3, Day 104
Hey everyone! So today's song is Flavor Of The Weak by American Hi-Fi.
The song starts 30 seconds in if you want to skip the shit at the beginning. This is a song from 2000...it's weird to think that was fourteen years ago. I was in elementary school at the time. I'm not sure when I first heard this song, it might have been high school? The stuff at the beginning I said you could skip was basically saying the they LOVE METAL. This song is not metal. I'm sorry. The song is alright, the band is good, but it can not be classified as metal in any sense of the word. Pop punk fits better. Anyway this song is okay, but my favorite by them as I mentioned in previous years on the blog is The Art of Losing so if you want to see more by them, I would say look up that song.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 103
Hey guys. So today's song This Blood Is Our Own by The Love Languages.
I've had a lazy day today, and this song's tempo basically fits how I've been all day. It's slow paced and a nonchalant track which has helped me to keep myself calm too. I haven't talked to anyone today either (I've been ignoring my sister's texts and calls about helping her with shit) so I have had no mood fluctuations because of other people. It's quite the odd realization that my mood has changed so little now that it isn't being nudged by life. If you guys have the chance, spend a day like that and see what comes of it. It had an eerie effect for me so who knows what will happen for you. Seriously try it.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 102
Hello. So today's song is Winter by Daughter.
For this one I would highly advise wearing headphones. It's makes the beginning sound so much better. It's a very relaxing song, so if you're in a dancy mood it wont hit the spot for you. This is an active listening song perfect for those deep meaningful thoughts and conversations about your life and your existence. It went perfectly with my mood this morning listening to it at 5 am in the dark through my headphones. Group music listening is great, but I love having moments to myself to delve into tracks like this and just let myself take a break from what is bothering me so much in the real world. So give this one a listen, I hope it gives you the same calm as it does me.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 101
Hi. So today's song is Graveyard by Feist.
The problem with making music and sharing it is that people will do covers of it, and there will be viewers who think the cover is better than the original. I'm at fault as much as other people, so I'm being a bit of a hypocrite, but I always still value the original artist because without them, there would be no cover to like. This song is an example of it. Feist is the original artist, but all anyone can talk about is a cover done by Mitch Grassi. For those of you who don't know, Mitch is a member of Pentatonix which is a group I do enjoy. They basically only do covers, and they know how to make it their own while still respecting the original. I'm not saying to stop enjoying covers, but just try and remember that the original artist played a role too.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 100
Hey guys. So today's song is Big Jet Plane by Angus and Julia Stone.
So originally I had found a different song to show you, until I realized it was legitimately just this song with a club beat put to it. The fact that someone can do that and give it a new title is ridiculous, so I scrapped that one, and found the original. I can't remember if I featured these guys on a previous year or not, so just in case I didn't I'll give you a little backstory. They're a brother sister group from Australia, defined as a kind of blues folk music band. Before having kids, their parents had actually been in a group together so it's almost like a legacy performance. Both siblings write the songs, and basically switch back and forth. This song in particular I believe is written by Angus, since it's adapted from a solo project song by a different name. You can check them out and more of their stuff on Facebook, Twitter and their website.

Year 3, Day 99
Hello. Today I give you Do You Love Me by The Contours.
What better song to blast from the Humvee while taking out a bunch of Croats? It is the apocalypse afterall!! In case none of you have any idea what I'm talking about, it's a Supernatural reference. Actually today is all just one big Supernatural reference so if you don't watch it or haven't gotten very far...be warned! There's kind of this fandom thing going on today that I was debating whether or not to join. I mean, I'm 21 and looking for legit adult type jobs, so writing a word on my arm in permanent marker is not exactly appropriate.
Then I thought why the hell not? It's one day, this year only, so why not be a part of something! I didn't go all out like most people did with the full arm press, but I did join in and confuse the hell out of my sister. The writing wasn't so bad for her, it was more shocking when I started quoting the episode.... Supernatural fans will understand. I wanted to share not just the picture I did showing my support (gritty and dark just like the end of the world would be) but also the cutest apocalypse gif I have ever seen. I joined tumblr purely because of the fandom, and I found people reblogging it from the original artist.
If you have tumblr, it's from the user dark-squishy. Despite all the dark stuff and total heartbreak everyone felt during the episode, the gif shows it all in the most adorable way possible and I absolutely loved it from the first time I saw it. Anyway, today is Croatoan Day so I wont sign off with peace, but instead tell you guys to watch out, and check your blood for sulfur haha. And if you don't get that then I want you to start watching Supernatural.
