Year 5, Day 365
So today's song is High Hopes by Yours Truly.
These guys are from Australia and the band is made up of three people: Mikaila, Teddie, and Lachlan. At least according to Facebook, although from the pictures on YouTube it looks like there might have been more. Their website doesn't seem to be working so I can't give you that, but you can look them up on social media. The YouTube channel has only been active since 2016 so they seem to be relatively new, but I'm looking forward to more from them. The last song slot is one I consider special because I know I'm going to be gone for months, so I like to leave something good as my sign off. The first year I knew which one I wanted since the day I started. This year I had a different song that I was trying to build towards, but with how many days were left it didn't quite work out... then I found this one and I knew it was perfect. I hope you agree. So this is it for this year, it's been quite a long one. We'll have to see about this whole article 13 and how it effects my blog, but make no mistake I have a masterlist of music still to come if all works out. For now I need a little break, but I should be back next year. Until then, keep finding new music, I know I'll certainly try.
Peace.

Year 5, Day 364
Hi guys. Today's song is Rumor Mill by We Are The In Crowd.
Once again, we have already done the overview for this group so I'm not repeating it. Since it's near the end of the year and I'll be gone again for awhile we should talk about this article thirteen bullshit. For anyone who doesn't no the EU passed a copyright law that does not leave any room for fair use. So song covers: illegal; parodies: illegal; basically sharing anything of any kind: potentially illegal. I don't understand why it even went to another vote since it was dismissed in June, but whatever. I live in Canada. So the law itself doesn't actually effect me at all, but the internet is a universal thing and you can't really bar any one group from it (which seems like the easiest way to comply with the new standards). Only time will tell what happens, I anticipate enough backlash to hopefully make the participating countries make the law null and void, but if it does start taking its toll we'll all have to adjust. All I can say right now is... well, I'm worried. This wont be good for anyone, and the sooner the politicians and industries pushing for it realize this, the better.
Peace.

Year 5, Day 363
Evening. So today's song is Strangers Again by Against The Current.
These guys are a band from New York, active since 2011, and currently made up of Chrissy Costanza, Dan Gow, and Will Ferri. They got their start on YouTube with covers, so add this one to the list of people we'd never know about without free form internet. They released their first EP independently in 2014, then did some touring for it before releasing another EP the following year. A month later they got signed to Fueled by Ramen, which if you ever look up that label you'll see a lot of band I feature are with them. They toured that EP while working on their debut album, which was released in 2016. The next year they got involved with a video game championship, making some music for that; then as of this year they have another album out. So if you like this song go check out some of the other stuff.

Year 5, Day 362
Afternoon. So today's song is Defying Symmetry by Fifth Dawn.
These guys are pretty new still. They formed in 2014 and are made up of Sam Faul, Mark Robertson, Jamie Panucci, and Ethan Pye. They released an EP in 2015, and were a finalist on a radio competition in Australia which boosted their fan base. Their debut album was released this year, and this song is one of the singles off of it, so there are a couple more songs for you to check out now, but ultimately if you like this group you'll just have to wait for their career to take off more. But for now, hopefully you've found a new band for you.

Year 5, Day 361
What's Up. Today's song is That Something by With Confidence.
These guys are an Australian band, so shout out to the Aussies today! The group has been around since 2012 and is currently made up of Joshua Brozzesi, Inigo Del Carmen, and Jayden Seeley. They met and made the band in high school, then started on YouTube, releasing songs on the platform in 2013. They also released an EP that same year which got a fair bit of radio attention and led to them opening for some notable groups when they rolled through. They continued making music and touring until releasing another EP in 2015. They got signed to a label in 2016, which meant bigger tours and sharing the stage with more bands. They took a little break from performing in 2017 after getting rid of a guitarist for sexual misconduct and more allegations against another member. This song is off their second album which came out this year once they got back into the swing of things, so I'm hoping you like it.
Peace.

Year 5, Day 360
Morning. Today I give you Hey Now by The Regrettes.
So this band is actually the culmination of two bands: Genessa and Pretty Little Demons. The members were friends and ended up playing together, then after Pretty Little Demons (who changed their name to The Regrettes) released an EP and lost a member, the two groups merged. That EP I talked about made the rounds and led to them being signed in 2015. They did a lot of touring with other groups while working on their debut released in 2017. They've released another EP this year and did a cover for Hamildrop for Hamilton. They're still relatively new so I expect great things from them. And if you're wondering this song is actually the one that got them signed so it seemed like a good one to feature. Check it out.
Peace.

Year 5, Day 359
Hello. So today's song is Wish I Knew You by The Revivalists.
This band has been active since 2007 and are from New Orleans. It's a bit bigger than some of the other bands I've featured, consisting of David Shaw, Zack Feinberg, Ed Williams, Rob Ingraham, George Gekas, Andrew Campanelli, Michael Girardot, and Paulet "PJ" Howard. I don't have a lot of information about this group. I don't know where the name comes from, but I like that it got formed because of a standard movie meet-cute where two of the guys passed each other and decided to strike up a conversation. They self released an EP in 2008 which was really well received in New Orleans. Then their made their debut album in 2010. They did another in 2012, then that got re-released in 2014 once they were finally signed on to a label. They had another new album in 2015, then got a lot of attention as a featured artist in a bunch of places. There hasn't been much since, although this year they've started showing off singles from the album they're working on now. So if you like it, prepare for more.

Year 5, Day 358
Hi guys. So today's song is Genghis Khan by Miike Snow.
This is a Swedish pop band around since 2007 so shout out to Sweden today! The members are Christian Karlsson, Pontus Winnberg, and Andrew Wyatt. The first two I listed actually work together a lot as a songwriting and producing duo under the moniker Bloodshy & Avant. They met Wyatt in 2004 while they were working on a Britney Spears album and the rest is history. The name was from a friend by that name who emailed them while they were brainstorming and it just kind of worked out. Seeking inspiration? check email. Their self titled debut was released in 2009. It was met very positively, and a lot of artists have remixed their music since. They started working on their next album in 2011, releasing it in 2012 and following with a US tour. In 2013 they started on their next album, but ended up taking a hiatus instead. I'm not sure why, but it's not really my business anyway. They came back in 2015 with some singles and released the third album by 2016. They've been making the round performing since and I honestly can't wait for more.
Peace.

Year 5, Day 357
Hey. Today's song is One Love by Marianas Trench.
My sister is low key trying to murder me via cats. So we live together, and she has an old man cat whose health is declining, and I am very allergic. Normally I can manage it pretty well: bad days I live with my window open and I basically only hang out in my cat free room. Lately though because of the cat's health, she got these glade plugin things that pump out cat pheromones... which shouldn't be a problem. Except that I'm camped out in my grandparents house so I can breath without coughing and wheezing from it. I looked it up. Cat allergies come from a protein that lives in the glands of cats and comes out in saliva, urine and dander. Pheromones also live in the glands so I think that's the problem. I was wondering if you guys have ever had to deal with allergies in your house, and if maybe you've got some tips, tricks, or advice. For me, I'm just trying to hang on until I can move back in with my grandparents in a couple months. Wish me luck.
Peace.

Year 5, Day 356
Morning. So today's song is A Place We Set Afire by Yellowcard.
So this song is basically a love letter to the fans, a goodbye for when they stopped making music last year. Yellowcard was my jam in grade ten when I had pretty well exited my inner emo phase in favor of alt rock so seeing this made me happy. They formed in 1997 and the name comes from a phrase about people causing party fouls in school. Think soccer, it'll make sense. They made a bunch of music before signing with a major label and doing their debut through them in 2003. That album was the one I listened to the most. They released albums pretty consistently every few years for the rest of their career, with a brief hiatus is 2008. That hiatus ended up being for two years so all the members could deal with their personal stuff and work on side projects, before the came back for seven. The music has always been great, and I will miss them, but I appreciate the message they gave us at the beginning of the song, so it can be bittersweet rather than sad. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
Peace.

The music has always been great, and I will miss them, but I appreciate the message they gave us at the beginning of the song, so it can be bittersweet rather than sad. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
Peace.
