Year 2, Day 122

Hi. So today I give you Your Love Is A Lie by Simple Plan.

Oh Simple Plan. At one time this was my favorite band, but then they kind of disappeared from my radar. I'm glad that they're making a comeback, it's proving to a new generation that our music was not crap. I do like the old music better though...like this song. It's my favorite by them. Anytime I was freaking out, I would blast stuff like this and just belt it out. My mom was not too cool with this. Obviously though, she liked the band too because she never made me turn it off. So give this song a listen and tell me what you think.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 121

Cover Day!! Today I give you Sexy And I Know It covered by Noah.

If you hate LMFAO, you might still love this. It is taking something that was barely music, and actually gave it some musicality. This just goes to show you that you can't judge a book by its cover. He looks so nerdy, and then he sings and every female in the world faints. The first time I heard it, my jaw dropped. Literally. Apparently some guy did this song on XFactor, and got a lot of praise because they thought he arranged it. No. It was Noah. This is a legit musician, I want more guys like this to be in the top 40. You seriously need to check this one out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 120

Hello. Today's song is Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen.

Here's an old favorite of mine. You can never go wrong with Queen, they are just so awesome. They put this song in the kinect Just Dance game that I have so now every time I hear this song I see the dance moves in my head. There has been a few times at work that I've ended up doing the dance moves...which looks awkward when no one can hear the music except you. Story of my life though, so whatever. That's all for today.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 119

Hi guys. So today is a little different. Here's What Makes You Beautiful by ThePianoGuys.

Obviously this is a cover of a One Direction song...but not in the way you'd think. If you don't like piano, go away. This is a piano cover, and possibly the best use of a piano I've ever seen. I want to be best friends with all of these men. They seem like the biggest music nerds of all time, but such cute dorkiness fun being had. This is one of those things where you need to watch the video. It's unbelievable, and I watch it at least three times. I can't leave it at one view, it's too good. Keep in mind, these guys know what they're doing. Do not pull the top off of a piano and think you can rock out like this. It takes effort. Haha, the end too. They jam full out and then the song ends and they just walk out. Brilliant.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 118

Hey everybody. So today's song is Boogie Love by Alexz Johnson.

This song is so fun. It really does make you want to boogie. Although when listening to this on an ipod, do not boogie. You get weird looks. Her voice is so unique. I'm sure I said the same thing last time when I discovered her from Instant Star. Fun fact: some of her cast members are in this video. I thought that was kind of awesome. Also her eye makeup is wicked. I wish I could pull that off. Anyway, give this song a listen.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 117

Hey. So today's song is I Could Be The One by Avicii vs. Nicky Romero.

The video for this song is mostly good. I like the fact that they use what I'm sure everyone is feeling. I definitely know people like that bitch. "Is it because you gained weight." Why, yes it is. Want to know how much weight I've gained? I'll sit on you and you can feel my fat crush your lungs. Sorry, it just bugs me. So the song works perfectly for the mood they've set. Just letting everything go and having fun. I wont ruin anything, but you need to watch the entire video. Don't stop it until the end.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 116

Hello. So today I give you You Are Never Alone by Socalled.

This is such a unique song. It's very cool to listen to, because it's got so much going on. I kind of love it. This band is definitely underrated, but lets put the music aside for a second. What is with this video? It freaks me out. This dude just taking apart his face. It shouldn't creep me out, because I know this isn't actually happening, but the way it's done...ugh. It gives me shivers. I refuse to watch the video; I will stick with the awesome music. That's enough for me.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 115

Hi. Today's song is Come Undone by Chron Goblin.

Local band. Awesome band. I hate when musicians are greatly underrated. This is an incredible song, and seeing them perform would probably be even better. Some people just don't know what good music is. My school does though. These guys will be playing at SAIT in January...I think. So if you are in town, you should look up the show and give these guys a chance.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 114

Sup. So today's song is Gay Bar by Electric Six.

I heard two guys talking about this band, and one of the guys was trying to explain who they are. The thing is...everyone knows this band, they just don't know that they know them. Does that make sense at all? Everyone knows the music, just not the guys. They are mostly known for the song Danger High Voltage. Though I knew that song first, I chose Gay Bar for Anna. The amount of times I have had her singing this at me is ridiculous. Now every time I hear it, I see her in my head singing it...she is crazy, and so is this song. Coincidence? Probably not.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 113

Okay, today we have Rise Again by The Mahones.

Let's get away from mixed songs. Instead I give you...an accordion! My mom played an accordion when she was in junior high. She showed it to me once and I definitely thought she was insane. Over the years I've come to realize how sweet it is. It's a mini side piano that you also squeeze. It looks difficult to play actually. Anyway, the Mahones are wicked. If you are in a good mood and want to stay in a good mood, this is the perfect song.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 112

Hello. Today's song is Blinding by Jakwob.

The comments say it all for this song. It's so emotional, but emotion is a good thing. It lets us know we're still alive. This song is also mixed like yesterdays. What can I say, I want the weekend back. Can you blame me? I love the classical instruments in this. Listen closely and you can pick them out amongst the mix. Beautiful.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 111

Hey. So today's song is Days To Come by Seven Lions.

Now this I didn't discover myself. Some people I keep on Facebook only for the fact that they share music they like that I can share again with you. This is the product of that. Normally I leave these mixes for the weekend, but the weekend never lasts long enough. So, this is your Monday song. It's a little slower, quieter....but still has that beat for the partier in you. Hope you enjoy it.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 110

Hello. Today's song is Kisses by The Shivers.

You know how on YouTube you can see how many people like or dislike a video, and that will tell you a lot about what you're about to view? This song (when I'm posting) has 21 dislikes. It has 3, 239 likes. The bar is completely green as far as I can see. That is how beautiful this song is. It reminds me of a Beatles era type love song. Mostly because it's pretty, but sad, and happy all at once. I have so many emotions that I don't know what to do with. It's a precious gem pulled from "Narnia-tube." Listen to it.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 109

Hey Guys. Today is special. I give you Sweat It Out by The Paper Lions.

I watched this guys perform tonight at the Gateway. They were incredible. That doesn't even begin to cover it. Amazing. Beautiful. Inspiring. Nope, still doesn't do it justice. I swear, if you ever get the chance to go and see one of their shows, you have to. I had been really bummed because no one wanted to go with me, so I was going to stay at home and study. Then they put a song about their show on YouTube, and I immediately hopped on the train to see them. Alone. It was so worth it. I had only known one song by them when I got there, but by the time I left, I knew them all. This song in particular is my favorite that I heard that night. Check these guys out. They are one of my favorites.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 108

Hey guys. So today I give you White Days by The Lighthouse And The Whaler.

Oh YouTube sidebar, how I love thee. Screw radio stations, this is how you find stuff. It's brilliant just how much stuff you can find by clicking random videos. Once I ended up on an endless kitten loop for five hours. No joke. At least today my loop ended with fifty new songs to share with you. I'm saving them up for the next month and a bit, so prepare for epicness like this song. It's a little quieter than most upbeat songs, but it still give you the same feeling. The feeling of happiness and sun, even though it's dark and cold outside. Yay for music.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 107

Hey. So today's song is Wandering by Radical Face.

This is quite an entertaining song to listen to. It has so many parts that are all doing their own thing, but work together too. If you separate them, you could have a bunch of different songs, that are in genres all across the board...but then there is the actual song, which is a type all it's own. I don't know how I can explain it, you will just have to play it. Put on headphones, close your eyes and focus. It's amazing.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 106

Hi. Today's song is Colourblind by The Art Of Sleeping.

I'm trying really hard to find music for you guys right now, but my head is throbbing. So I picked something that is not going to make my brain explode. It's still great though. This song builds slowly to bring attention to the chorus, and the emotion that is going through it. It's not enough to just say you're sad, you have to make someone believe that you're sad. This song plays of the falsetto of the singer, with drum beats that add the umph. For a guy, it's hard to hit those beautiful high notes while still giving the ...down beat...ish feel to the words. The lack of emphasis portrayed through the words are inherently picked up by the instruments and it is such a beautiful effect. Listen closely to this one.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 105

Sup. Today's song is This Is The Light by Les Jupes.

So this is the band that had opened  for The Arkells when I went to see them. It feels like it's been such a long time, but whatever. So I saw this guy before I heard him, and when he opened his mouth I was shocked. His voice is not what I though it would be. Just, wow! Plus, in this song having the girls voice helps to even out his bass tones beautifully. Unfortunately when I saw them, it was her last day with the band. So hopefully these guys get another female to jam with. I would volunteer myself, but I suck...and don't play piano like this girl does. Anyway, you should check these guys out.

Peace.

Monday, November 12, 2012

Year 2, Day 104

Hey, so today's song is A Fine Mess by The British Columbians.

The British Columbians. Haha. As in British Columbia. I love Canadian things! It's just fun for someone from Canada who knows what British Columbia is. Anyway, the sound these guys produce is amazing. I love that bands are making a comeback rather than artists. Even "the hits" are starting to become more band-filled. This means there is hope for the music world after all. If these tweens start to like bands (good ones) then eventually the rest of pop culture will head in that direction. When that happens, you can bet that these guys will be chart toppers. I don't want to analyze their music for you, so you will just have to listen to it yourself.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 103

Hello. Today's song is This Is Our Science by Astonautalis.

Here's another group that made an appearance at SAIT that I missed. It's a good thing YouTube exists though, otherwise I never would have found his stuff. He seems like a cool guy since he's laughing at himself in his comments. It's really awesome. I don't mind his rapping either. Normally I tune out rapping in songs and just focus on the music, but his works with the song. We live in an era where there is so much music for all different kinds of people. I love exploring all the different crossed genres. You find the most incredible music, like this. Give it a listen, it's fun.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 102

Hey everybody. Today I give you Throw Me To The Rats by Tom Fun Orchestra.

This is weirdly cool. His voice is definitely not what I expected, but in a good way. Unique voices like this are always fun to discover, and the music is amazing. Tom Fun Orchestra is always great though so that's no surprise.  I'm not sure what to say about this video...it seems really random. I guess they were trying to go for a kind of puppet show?Maybe. It worked for Harry Potter Puppet Pals, but it doesn't really work for this. Whatever. The music is good and that's what is really important. So, check it out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 101

Hey. So today's song is Blame It On The Good Times by Poor Young Things.

Since yesterday was a bit of a downer, I thought I'd share something that makes me happy. This is a fun little tune that I can rock out to. It can fix a mood, especially when you can hear that they love what they do. When I listen to this, I hear passion. To be as passionate as these guys are about something would make my life awesome. I haven't found that passion yet, but I'm optimistic. Anyway, listen to this song. It is a perfect weekend party song.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 100

Hi. Today's song is Part That Breaks by Jeremy Fisher.

This is such a sad song. Beautiful, but sad. So I had never really heard of Jeremy Fisher until I saw a poster for a show of his at the Gateway. I couldn't go to it, but I decided to check him out. The fact that I did might have something to do with the fact we share a last name...it always makes me curious of people. He's really good! The lyrics are incredible too if you listen closely. It has an actual story, and examples and feelings!! That's rare nowadays... Obviously it wont be everyone's cup of tea, but I like it. To me, I see this song being played in a short film. It would set the mood really well for scenes. You guys should give this a chance, you might be surprised at how much you like it.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 99

Hey Guys. Today I give you We Came To Smash by Martin Solveig ft. Dev.

This song is club music. I'm telling you that now. I like it though, sometimes you need to let loose and party as if no one is watching and you are drunk. The combination makes hilarious dance moves. This guy kind of goes in the same section as David Guetta as far as genre goes, although I'm sure there is a technical name other than club music for it... Anyway, if you wants some dancing beats, check this out.

Peace.

Year 2, Day 98

Hello. Today's song is Magic by B.o.B ft. Rivers Cuomo.

Another song that I found from watching Pitch Perfect a billion times. Honestly I like the Pitch Perfect version better, but they could never have done that without this song and the permission of the artist so huge props for that. Music is finally looking up a little bit from the all time low we had a couple years ago, though I'm still not pleased with the continuation of autotuning. That needs to just go away.

Peace.

Monday, November 5, 2012

Year 2, Day 97

Sup. Today's song is Bright Lights Bigger City by Cee Lo Green.

I found this because of Pitch Perfect, and I love it so much now. Cee Lo is just a bad ass no matter what, but then he makes such kick ass music. Skylar definitely did this song justice in his cover. Lately I've found myself running around my house belting this at the top of my lungs, because in a quiet house that is what I do. It's a great song to pick up your mood and your day. So on that note, you should give it a listen.

Peace.

Sunday, November 4, 2012

Year 2, Day 96

Hey. So today's song is Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis.

This is pure awesome. Honestly. I love it so much. Every time I see the name or the artist I can't figure out what song it is until they start singing. It just makes me smile and is so fun. As for the video, what the one comment says is right. "There is a reason the word sex is in the URL." It has a lot of girls dancing around in undergarments, but really is that anything new in today's society?

Peace.

Saturday, November 3, 2012

Year 2, Day 95

Hi. Today's song is Open Season by the High Highs.

This song is so beautiful. It reminds me of a roadtrip or a fairytale dream. Those are the most peaceful things that I can think of and this song makes me feel relaxed and peaceful. I think I found a new destressor song for myself to play before tests. This is a perfect song for a Saturday and I'll try to let it bring my day to a vacation setting. I doubt it will work, but we'll see.

Peace.

Friday, November 2, 2012

Year 2, Day 94

Hey Guys, Here's a little Michael Jackson for ya. I give you Blame It On The Boogie.

No matter how crazy Michael Jackson was, his music is killer. Everything is so good! Some songs make me cry, some make me creeped out and others (like this one) make me just want to party. And even though I'm looking at a weekend in Accounting Hell, it is Friday and we should be dancing. So enjoy it while it lasts, and boogie.

Peace.

Thursday, November 1, 2012

Year 2, Day 93

Hey guys. So today's song is Release Me by Agnes.

Some artists out there have really weird names. This one seems weird to us, but it's bringing back an old favorite. I don't know anyone who could stand to be named Agnes, so props to her for rocking this name as best she can. The song is great. It's a mix of club type beats with lyrics that I would imagine more in a ballad, hard on the vocals. The mesh well together, pulling the feeling of both genres of music into the songs. I love listening to it and you should too.
