Morning. Today's song is A Change Would Do You Good by Sheryl Crow.
The CD this is from used to be a go-to for driving with my mom. I wish I knew what happened to it, but it went missing a long time ago. When she started in the music business, it was actually in her spare time while she was a music teacher during the day. She met a producer named Jay Oliver who would use her for jingles he wrote. It earned her a lot of cash because she was the voice for some major companies. By 1987 she was touring with Michael Jackson doing backup vocals for him, as well as some other notable names. By 1990, her songs started appearing on soundtracks for movies. She had been working on a debut album in 1992, but ultimately didn't like the sound so it wasn't release. By 1994, she was part of a songwriting collective called the Tuesday Music Club who shared credits when she finally did release her debut album. The album won three Grammy's. In 1996 she released her second album (which is where this is from) that dealt with some pretty heavy topics. This one also won her some Grammy's. She kept releasing music throughout the 2000's while raising awareness for the Scleroderma Research Foundation and protesting some war movements. By 2010 she had seven studio albums out. In 2011 she did writing for the musical Diner, which is a nice little caveat in her career. By last year her album number has jumped to nine. She has a really good musical career, but it coincides with a real shit disturber personality. She's not shy about what she believes in and doing what she can in advocating for it. I don't mind that, but it is interesting to see how much she's impacted stuff throughout the years. Look it up if you're interested.
Peace.
