Phantom Planet is a rock band active from 1994 to 2008, then again in 2012, then came back in 2019. Current members include Alex Greenwald, Sam Farrar, Darren Robinson, and Jeff Conrad. Then there are two past members including Jason Schwartzman and Jaques Brautbar. The band name comes from the title of a B-movie from 1961. They released four albums before going on hiatus in 2008, with the first album out in 1998 and the last one from the same year they left. There isn't any information on why they went on hiatus in 2008, but most member were very adamant that the band didn't break up. Odd though. Most hiatuses are because they need a break from the industry or to focus on family, and as far as I can tell most members were still in the industry during the break. They reunited in 2012 to play some shows together, and did do one new song, although it was technically from Alex Greenwald's solo album. They announced they were officially coming back in 2019, releasing their first new song which was the one from 2012 on the solo album, but reworked. Their new album was supposed to come out this month, but considering what's going on right now it's been delayed. But hey, something to look forward to.
