It's crazy to think about now, but Charlie Puth was actually a YouTuber, and that's where he started his career. He ended up entering an online video competition from Perez Hilton which got the attention of Ellen DeGeneres, who signed him to her label that same year. He left the label a year later and went back to his YouTube roots, writing some theme songs for fellow creators while working on his own stuff. He signed with another record label in 2015 and that's when he gained momentum, with the song Marvin Gaye. Since then he's been putting out bangers that always make me smile.
