The Manhatten Transfer is a vocal jazz group whose been around since 1969. Their current members are Alan Paul, Janis Siegel, Cheryl Bentyne, and Trist Curless. The group was named after a novel by John Dos Passos. The original group made an album in 1971, but the label elected not to make a second, so they broke up in 1973. Shortly after, the group was revived with mostly new people and they made a demo which earned them a new record deal and a debut album in 1975. This was followed by another album the following year, then another in 1979. In the 1980's they started winning Grammy's, at least one each year for three consecutive years. They've continued releasing albums throughout their career, and were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998. I could break down more of their career from then until now, but it's basically just album after album and still going strong. They have 30 overall currently, with the most recent released in 2018. It probably wont be a song for most of you, but it's good to expand your listening pool to at least know for sure. So I hope you guys give it a chance.
