Michelle Branch is an American musician active since 1999. She was into music her whole life, but she really got started when she moved to homeschooling during high school to focus on music. Her parents helped find her gigs around the area, and paid for her to release her own album. At the end of 1999 she sent two of her songs into the Rolling Stones website, which got her the attention of Hansen who invited her to open for a couple of their shows in 2000. She produced her first album in 2000, and it was released through and independent label. She got signed in 2001, also releasing her first major album the same year and that is actually where this song is from. She released her next album in 2003 which didn't do as well as the other one, but still earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Vocal Rock performance. From 2004 until 2007 Branch focused on her duo (which was officially formed in 2005) that was formed with her and Jessica Harp called The Wreckers. They released an album in 2006 before eventually splitting to focus on their solo careers. She's released two albums since coming back to her solo career, with one in 2017 and another in 2022, along with some singles in the interim. So if you like what you hear go check out some of her newer stuff.

Peace.
