Year 6, Day 356

Good Morning! Today's song is Your Love Is A Lie by Simple Plan.

So today we received our copies of the family history that my grandpa's sister took over from him awhile ago and... it's horrible. I haven't gone through it completely yet, but it looks like a seventh grader school project that they threw together because they forgot the due date was so soon. I don't know what else I expected honestly. This is from a pre-digital age generation. But because of the classes I've taken I'm irrationally invested in fonts, layouts and overall flow of things and I can barely look at this book without losing my mind. I mean there is a grammatical error on the front cover! Ugh.. I think I've decided that I'm going to cannibalize my copy and redo it in a way that doesn't make me want to stab something, but that's still 600 pages of information I have to deal with. If you guys have any suggestions for me about how to lay out genealogy stuff please share. This is going to be a hell of a project if I take it on.

Peace.

Year 6, Day 355

Good Morning! Today's song is Be My Escape by Relient K.

So these guys have been around since 1998. There are a lot of previous members so I'm not going to name them all, but currently the members include Matt Hoopes and Matt Thiessen. There have been eleven albums so far in their career, the first from 2000 and the most recent from 2016. This song in particular is from their album released in 2004 which is right about the peak of when I found these guys. There hasn't been anything new from them since an EP in 2017, but they are still technically considered active so I guess we'll see if there will be more someday.

Peace.

Year 6, Day 354

Good Morning! Today's song is Pain by Jimmy Eat World.

Alright, this band has been around since 1993 and is currently made up of Jim Adkins, Zach Lind, Tom Linton, and Rick Burch. They also have one previous member named Mitch Porter. The band name came from Linton's brothers who I guess constantly fought and that led to a drawing of one brother (Jim) eating the Earth with the name as the caption. I don't know why it stuck, but I like it. They've released ten albums over the course of their career, the first from 1994 and the most recent from 2019. They actually started out as a punk rock band, but early on they started getting influenced by the indie scene and slowed their tempo. I've featured them once before, but not for awhile, so it's good to bring them back around. Enjoy.

Peace.

Year 6, Day 353

Good Morning! Today's song is Jesus Of Suburbia by Green Day.

This is one where I feel like the video detracts from the song, so I never watch it, but I attached the official video in case you want to see it. I've mentioned Green Day before so we're only doing a quick overview. These guys have been around since 1987 and currently made up of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool. Previous members of the group also include John Kiffmeyer and Jason White. They were really big in the early 2000's, but have been going strong since then too. They've got 13 albums to date, the first in 1990 and the most recent from this year. They're music has also moved past albums, with the American Idiot album being reconfigured into a musical that builds the story more and adds extra song into it. That musical won two Tony Awards. I'm curious to see it, so I made have to go hunting for that. Anyway, enjoy!

Peace.

Year 6, Day 352

Good Morning! Today's song is I'm Not Okay (I Promise) by My Chemical Romance.

You guys already know that MCR is a love of mine, although I came into it late. But music is eternal, so it doesn't matter when you find it, so long as you do. Anyway, this band was around from 2001 until 2013. They did come back in 2019 to do some touring and are going to do more once the world opens back up, but I don't know if they're officially back or not yet. Back as in making new music I mean. They've released four albums, the first in 2002 and the most recent from 2010. Some people call this emo music, others refer to it a pop rock and other variations of that. I know Gerard Way hates the emo moniker, but whatever you want to call it, there is no denying that this band has made an impact in the industry. I know that I'm doing lots of older songs right now, but this is kinda the mood that I've been feeling, so I think it's going to stay. And like I said before, music is eternal. Old, new, it doesn't matter. So long as it's good.

Peace.

Year 6, Day 351

Good Morning! Today's song is Fallen Leaves by Billy Talent.

These guys are a Canadian band active since 1993, though they were known as Pezz until 1999. They're made up of Benjamin Kowalewicz, Ian D'Sa, Jonathan Gallant, Aaron Solowoniuk, and Jordan Hastings. They had to change their name from Pezz to something else because their was an American band of the same name, so they were inspired by a guitarist character from a novel written by Michael Turner. They have released five albums so far, the first from 2003 and the most recent from 2016. Although they do probably have another album on the way because they've been releasing singles periodically through the end of 2019 to the beginning of this year so we'll see what happens in the next little while.

Peace.

Year 6, Day 350

Good Morning! Today's song is We Fight by Dashboard Confessional.

These guys are a rock band active from 1999 to 2011, and then again since 2015. Currently they're made up of Chris Carrabba, Scott Schoenbeck, Armon Jay, Chris Kamrada, and Dane Poppin. Throughout their career they've released seven albums, the first in 2000 and the most recent in 2018. Carrabba also has some solo stuff that he was working on in the interim years so you can look that stuff up too. They did release another album in 2019 that was re-recordings of previous albums. This year they did a 20th anniversary tour and released a greatest hits album to mark the event. So this is another one with a long career so check out the progression is you're interested.

Peace.
