Year 4, Day 317

What Up. Today I give you Last Of The Red Hot Fools by The Jitters.

Here's another Canadian band that pretty much ruled the eighties. If you aren't Canadian it's possible you wouldn't know these guys, but props if you do. They were only really a thing for a decade before leaving the music scene, but the were efficient in those ten years. They toured constantly, released two albums and were nominated at the Juno Awards for Most Promising Group of the Year. This is another of those songs from my childhood that is seared into my brain and isn't gonna go away anytime soon. Thanks for that mom and dad. I will admit that I enjoy the song, although the music video (while probably cool in its time) gives me creep vibes now. Listen and watch if you like.

Hey. So today's song is Everybody's Got Somebody But Me by Hunter Hayes featuring Jason Mraz.

I'm excited to finally feature this one because I love it so much. It's a great duet. I mean it doesn't hurt that the song is relate-able for my forever alone ass, but still if you look at it objectively the tune is beautiful. I also have a lot of respect for Hunter Hayes because he seems like an unproblematic celebrity. I've never heard anything bad about him, which is rare for people in our age group. So hooray for unproblematic people and I hope you enjoy the song.

Year 4, Day 315

Hello. So today's song is My Window Faces The South by Brad Paisley and Asleep At The Wheel.

This is one of those songs that is sung by everyone and their moms so you can find a ton of different versions. It's not quite at Christmas covers level, but it's up there. This version is the one I always had saved to show you, but in the time that I found it and am posting it, I've had to relink it several times. I guess the copyright is strong with this one. So fair warning that there is a possibility that the link will die after only one day. I mean I expect things like that which is why I always write out the title and artist so if the link craps out you guys can go look it up yourselves. I try and keep an eye on them though. Let's just all send good vibes and hope that this one stays live for awhile.

Hiya. So today's song is All About The Girl by Jordan McIntosh.

Alright we're barely into the new year, but I just woke up so I'm going to write this out and not have to worry about it for the rest of the day. I'm trying to set the mood for this next year with the first song (while still finishing the country set list I've got going on.) It's upbeat and feel good so it's the song for today in hopes that I can keep my year upbeat too. Wish me luck.

Year 4, Day 313

Hey guys. Today I give you Stay A Little Longer by Brothers Osbourne.

I know it's technically New Years but it's another fake holiday so I'm not going to choose any special song for it. That being said it is nice to have a set day where you say "okay, time to get my shit together." So in honor of that tradition let's all share a resolution that we want. Twist though: it can't be a typical one like losing weight, eating better, or being better when it comes to procrastination. Make it something ridiculous and totally obtainable so you can get one done out of the gate. My New Year's resolution is to put together a list of the DC timeline for television much like what Marvel did. Or make it something super hard and personal that you'll absolutely hate doing, but probably should handle anyway. My New Year's resolution is to get rid of my debt and tell my dad that we're no longer tethered to each other so get the fuck out of my life. Or make a resolution to pay it forward, however small a gesture. My New Year's resolution is to pay for everyone's coffee at Tim's and create a conga line of (literally) paying it forward in drive thru. Leave yours in the comments, I'm anxious to read them.

Hi. So today's song is If It Makes You Happy by Sheryl Crow.

Sheryl Crow used to be my mom's thing. The amount of times we listened to this CD in the car is astounding and I still know all the words to all the songs. It's one piece of my childhood that I can still look back on with fond memories that hasn't been tainted by the sheer ludicrousy that are my parents. This song is my choice to showcase simply because I like being able to belt out the chorus. It's a good outlet for emotions, much like the nightly screamfest a college in Sweden has. So just in case you guys have some feelings about this year you need to expel, try belting along to Sheryl Crow.

Year 4, Day 311

Morning. So today's song is Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood.

I've been listening to a Carrie Underwood song a lot lately (not this one) and it affected me enough to want to include her in the list. This song was one of the first that got really big and introduced me to her. The songs of hers that I've listened to (and I'm sorry that doesn't include a lot) all seem pretty... empowered I guess is the word I'm looking for. When it deals with the betrayal or destruction caused by another person the way she sings the story makes her not seem victimized which I like. Too much woe is me is not so good. For music I mean, actual victimizing for real crimes is a different story just in case you try and read something into my words that isn't there. I'm off the rails today so I'm just going to end it here.
