What's up. Today's song is How You Like Me Now? by The Heavy.
So these guys are a British indie rock band from a town called Bath. I've actually heard a bit about Bath, one of the more interesting things being the painted pigs all over the place. That always made the town stick with me because in Calgary we (used to) have a bunch of cows painted and placed all over the city. I had wanted to go on a scavenger hunt to try and find all of them, but part of the beautifying of the city saw most of the cows disappear....why am I talking about cows? Sorry, back on track. This is song been featured in everything. I'm serious. The Vampire Diaries, Entourage, Community, Rookie Blue, White Collar, The Fighter, Horrible Bosses, The Change Up, This Means War, Ted, Borderlands 2 and a bunch of commercials. The fact that it's in so much stuff makes it incredible that I found this song by surfing YouTube and no where else. Weird right? Was there ever a song that you should have known from something, but found it somewhere else? Let me know!
Peace.

Year 3, Day 104
Hey everyone! So today's song is Flavor Of The Weak by American Hi-Fi.
The song starts 30 seconds in if you want to skip the shit at the beginning. This is a song from 2000...it's weird to think that was fourteen years ago. I was in elementary school at the time. I'm not sure when I first heard this song, it might have been high school? The stuff at the beginning I said you could skip was basically saying the they LOVE METAL. This song is not metal. I'm sorry. The song is alright, the band is good, but it can not be classified as metal in any sense of the word. Pop punk fits better. Anyway this song is okay, but my favorite by them as I mentioned in previous years on the blog is The Art of Losing so if you want to see more by them, I would say look up that song.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 103
Hey guys. So today's song This Blood Is Our Own by The Love Languages.
I've had a lazy day today, and this song's tempo basically fits how I've been all day. It's slow paced and a nonchalant track which has helped me to keep myself calm too. I haven't talked to anyone today either (I've been ignoring my sister's texts and calls about helping her with shit) so I have had no mood fluctuations because of other people. It's quite the odd realization that my mood has changed so little now that it isn't being nudged by life. If you guys have the chance, spend a day like that and see what comes of it. It had an eerie effect for me so who knows what will happen for you. Seriously try it.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 102
Hello. So today's song is Winter by Daughter.
For this one I would highly advise wearing headphones. It's makes the beginning sound so much better. It's a very relaxing song, so if you're in a dancy mood it wont hit the spot for you. This is an active listening song perfect for those deep meaningful thoughts and conversations about your life and your existence. It went perfectly with my mood this morning listening to it at 5 am in the dark through my headphones. Group music listening is great, but I love having moments to myself to delve into tracks like this and just let myself take a break from what is bothering me so much in the real world. So give this one a listen, I hope it gives you the same calm as it does me.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 101
Hi. So today's song is Graveyard by Feist.
The problem with making music and sharing it is that people will do covers of it, and there will be viewers who think the cover is better than the original. I'm at fault as much as other people, so I'm being a bit of a hypocrite, but I always still value the original artist because without them, there would be no cover to like. This song is an example of it. Feist is the original artist, but all anyone can talk about is a cover done by Mitch Grassi. For those of you who don't know, Mitch is a member of Pentatonix which is a group I do enjoy. They basically only do covers, and they know how to make it their own while still respecting the original. I'm not saying to stop enjoying covers, but just try and remember that the original artist played a role too.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 100
Hey guys. So today's song is Big Jet Plane by Angus and Julia Stone.
So originally I had found a different song to show you, until I realized it was legitimately just this song with a club beat put to it. The fact that someone can do that and give it a new title is ridiculous, so I scrapped that one, and found the original. I can't remember if I featured these guys on a previous year or not, so just in case I didn't I'll give you a little backstory. They're a brother sister group from Australia, defined as a kind of blues folk music band. Before having kids, their parents had actually been in a group together so it's almost like a legacy performance. Both siblings write the songs, and basically switch back and forth. This song in particular I believe is written by Angus, since it's adapted from a solo project song by a different name. You can check them out and more of their stuff on Facebook, Twitter and their website.
Peace.

Year 3, Day 99
Hello. Today I give you Do You Love Me by The Contours.
What better song to blast from the Humvee while taking out a bunch of Croats? It is the apocalypse afterall!! In case none of you have any idea what I'm talking about, it's a Supernatural reference. Actually today is all just one big Supernatural reference so if you don't watch it or haven't gotten very far...be warned! There's kind of this fandom thing going on today that I was debating whether or not to join. I mean, I'm 21 and looking for legit adult type jobs, so writing a word on my arm in permanent marker is not exactly appropriate.
Then I thought why the hell not? It's one day, this year only, so why not be a part of something! I didn't go all out like most people did with the full arm press, but I did join in and confuse the hell out of my sister. The writing wasn't so bad for her, it was more shocking when I started quoting the episode.... Supernatural fans will understand. I wanted to share not just the picture I did showing my support (gritty and dark just like the end of the world would be) but also the cutest apocalypse gif I have ever seen. I joined tumblr purely because of the fandom, and I found people reblogging it from the original artist.
If you have tumblr, it's from the user dark-squishy. Despite all the dark stuff and total heartbreak everyone felt during the episode, the gif shows it all in the most adorable way possible and I absolutely loved it from the first time I saw it. Anyway, today is Croatoan Day so I wont sign off with peace, but instead tell you guys to watch out, and check your blood for sulfur haha. And if you don't get that then I want you to start watching Supernatural.
